A couple weeks ago my wife sent me a link to this band's music. Twenty minutes later I'd bought the album off Amazon. Best band I've heard in ages! I can't wait to hear what they come out with next.
(Sorry for bad english Im from Germany) Im a scout and someone once found this song and showed it the others. And because it is so unbelievably beautiful everybody loved it. Since then we sing it very often so just imagine, a bunch of scouts sitting around a fireplace and singing "Saviour of the skies"with a guitar. Everybody really loves it and Im not talking about a few people Im talking about everybody at my scouts(130 people). Truly a Masterpiece ❤
@gothyboff ...Your wish is granted! Savior of the Skies is now on iTunes!
There actually were several steam-powered airplanes, notably the 1933 Bessler.
With some very interesting flight characteristics, too, such as a nearly silent engine and the ability to change propeller speed instantly, allowing them to suddenly reverse the prop’s rotation in order to land in a short distance.
looping back to this after a few years and hoh boy, why didn't I add this to my playlist when I first heard it?
I've listened to this for how many times already since I have found The Cog Is Dead.... I never get tired listening to this wonderful song
Rest in peace, Skyking.
Dammit man, thanks to you I know the history of Beebo. Fly high SkyKing
Crazy how the latest comment is from 1 year ago. More people need to listen to this song, and just the older songs in general, because this is so lovely ❤
The aircraft is a Sukhoi Su-7 Fitter, not a MiG-21 Fishbed. They're very similar looking aircraft however. The main "tell" is the shock cone within the air intake.
This song resonates my soul... and im not sure if I like that...
Why must it be soo beautiful!!??!
That is one of the wonders of the Steampunk universe; it's completely separate from our universe. Yes, in this reality it ran on kerosene or whichever fuel it used (not 100% with plane mechanics) but in the steampunk world it could be steam powered! Just because something doesn't run on steam in real life, doesn't mean it can't in somebodies imagination.
it wasnt a jet plane but there was a steam plane at one poiint it was a bi-plane i belive an old prop thouhg not old at the time
Not really, steampunk can include not just airships but early ww1 era planes(biplanes and the like) so if you were to make one of those out of canvas and add a prop on it, it'd work.
Reminds me of Guns of Icarus :3
The vocalist's voice is like M. Shadows and Jack Skeleton had a magical love child.
I love this song, just wish there was a cool video to go with it.
Being a fan of the book it's a pleasant surprise to see a soundtrack dedicated to it. I don't know many of the bands who worked on it besides Clockwork Dolls and you guys, which makes me a bit leery but I'm enjoying this song.
Internal Combustion Engine seems to suggest a propeller. This obviously has an intake, so it's a Reaction Engine (It provides thrust out of the back, Reaction Engines refer to Newton's third Law of Motion, that for every action, there is an equal and opposite REACTION. However, the way that most reaction engines work does use combustion on the inside, but not the process known in engineering as "Internal Combustion".
brilliant... wish the book was this well written.
*DANCES!* *POUNCES* This? It is me, seeing the list of awesome associated with the two discs, running off to Amazon to buy them both right now.
Is it just me or the clouds move a little, towards the back of the MiG-21? Very hypnotic effect :)
PIGineering by AngryBirdsNest I think they do
you need to get laid. stop sexualizing the goddamn MIG
Nah, it's an extra effect layered on
It’s not a mig21 tho, it’s a su-7
Hopefully in their next album!
Awesome job guys! I love the song!
Absolutely amazing.
i want my airship.
If you'll get one, come for me
I will also join your crew
i love both vocalists so this makes sense
I love the Russian Mig, not sure how it related to steam punk; but it's a great plane.
They are actually good, why so little subscribed?
@dimonium86 glad you think so to!
Nice waltz...
new favorite song
This song is so amazing :)
I imagined your voice as the same from the Old Spice commercials. Awesome. STEAMPUNKIFY HIM NAO. :D
Is there an accompaniment of this somewhere, I want to try out to sing a solo song in my choir. :P
I do wonder... Is the Savior of the Skies a steam powered automatic airship, or does she have a crew?
Amazing song
Guys, you are awesome!
Esta cancion me cambio la vida Estube a punto de suicidarme por causas familiares SE OS AGRADEZCO MUCHO por esta cancion me han salvado la vida
Beautiful feedback, I translate for english people :
"This song change my life. I was about to kill myself for family reasons. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH because this song saved my life."
Espero que ahora estes mejor.
actually, I see it fitting. Especially if you picture it going through the clouds with studio gibli doing the art work/production.
Love it! But the MiG21 fighter looks a bit oddball in steampunk, being powered by a reaction engine and all.
Do you have the new album? Last song tells us. GET IT!
i... didn't know there was a second album out! Prepare to be Purchased! All your songs are belong to me.
I got that reference
My Saviour of the Skies, when i hear this song, is Air Destroyer Goliath, from Castle In The Sky.
Perfect Battleship for this song.
beautiful :)
It's more dieselpunk, admittedly. So in a way you're right. But since diesel's a derivative of steampunk, it's kinda still under the category. But dieselpunk music tends to be heavier than this anyhoo =]
But I want it on iTunes...
This song is amazing! Lyrics?
lol :D ist it? :D look at that plane, or mig 17, 21 :D they feel like steampunk, after seeng them on an airshow they seem to be running on steam too ;-) but favorite is Su 17 :D
so does that mean there might be a new The cog is dead album in the works?
It's steam in the foreground of the picture.
That's a mig-21 "Fishbed"....no internal combustion and, what's worse, it has a REACTION ENGINE! D:
Is that a Mig-21
Also love the song❤️
No that's "they put a fin on a pipe and got a plane" Su-7B
(Not a big mistake though it was supposed to be a mig-21 competitor)
That looks _a lot_ like a MiG-21
Never mind, su-7
Nah it’s an airship
is it just me or does his voice sound like the singer from Avenged Sevenfold
I wish i could agree. But i dont /: its just you.
That would have been awesome though. Lol
+jayson mitchell YES! Thanks! Finally someone got it too... Specially in "anoooother fight..." (: But I think it's only in this song.. Because definitely they are very different. I prefer this one for much.. ;)
But I want it on Spotify...
"The airship fell down with a crunch and a splat
Thomas Livingston, just like a pancake, was flat.
Tra-la-la,
Hi-de-hi-de-ho."
Well, it makes the band-name "The Cog is Dead" very seem very appropriate then!
Listening to this and playing Guns Of Icarus online. It suited it.
reminds me of the anime Last Exile
Would make sense if you used a ww1 era plane
Since when is a Su 7 Jet attack aircraft steam punk ; ) Still its a cool song.
Maybe it is. Michelle became a vengeful pilot to kill as many pirates as possible. SKY BATWOMAN.
needs something more like a Handley Page 0/400
I'm just going to pretend that she eventually rescues Thomas Livingston.
anyone still listening to this in 2017/2018?
anyone still listening to this in 2077.
Almost 2019 now
Nope.
2019
Mid 2019
Does this remind anyone of Phyrra from RWBY?
Spirit Osborne no
Got this recommended to me by youtube
Lol.
could be a sabre :p
🛩❤️
Maybe it's launched from a carrier, via steam catapult? :D
since somebody invented dieselpunk......
UwU I wov this swong!!!!XOXO
i feel like this must relate to the song "letter to michelle"
MR. Livingston has been avenged
Yeah, he actually survived. Check "Voyage Home"
Actually steampunk likes airships. This is space age no matter how you look at it.
I don’t think so
thats a mig 21 and no no matter how you look at it a 1950s commie jet is not steam punk.
i feel myself bad so much becouse your voice is not on the music and its very disappointing...why is this so bad? i want you to prove your skills for a better album, and better track...
