This video proves great songs come from great minds pondering great ideas. Supertramp has always been the No. 1 existential guidepost in my life coming from the world of Rock HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Logical Song was my Zen meditation tool before I even truly caught on to the need to meditate on God and the meaning of life. If only people understood how significant the philosophy of the life of Rock is. Rock is NOT something from outside God's universe but definitely His own substance unarguably. Just as its mother the Blues is it is MEDICINAL. But unfortunately it is misused........ just as most good things are.
The Logical Song pretty much explains all of our problems. When I was kid hearing this brought tears to my eyes because I realized I wasn't crazy and I wasn't alone in all of this.
It's been helping me in the same way as an adult for decades. I know exactly what you mean by "crazy" and it's really tough to be torn between those two worlds inside of yourself. One is only held together by yourself and a few singers or writers, etc, who echo the things that you're seeing and feeling on the deepest level. The other is the false, performing you that's supported by an entire society of others behaving and acting in a likewise manner (mostly unconsciously). You doubt your own consciousness (intuition) because it gets such minimal support. But the unconscious performing you has the entire society backing it up because that's the way we're supposed to be in order for this clockwork horror to keep ticking along, ensuring that the one-eyed man remains king!

It’s a rare gift to be able to take a complex idea or emotion, and then distill it down into a song that others can hear and be made to feel understand what the artist was trying to convey. Roger has that gift.
I was sent off to boarding school, in 1978, at the age of 8 for 10 years. So, as you can imagine, I have always identified with the sentiment in the song.
for me 1974 to 1977 ---- and I recall so many kids at school were understandably enamoured with Supertramp. Personally, I found my solace when I discovered Stevie's, Songs in the Key of Life.
This song reminds me of my childhood and when I was older and understand the lyrics, I realised it was about my life. My mother screaming I had to be realistic and not a dreamer, that I should learn at school, and not just staring out of the window in my schoolclass. That I had to stop dreaming and fantasising, but be rational and for Gods sake study for a job to earn a living. My parents were desperate that I never find a job. So I did my best, with ups and lots of downs, learnt to be a nurse, earnt money, got realistic and wasnt feeling happy at all. Long story short, I couldn’t work anymore as a nurse because of a disease, and finally find my old self again. Now I dance, I sing, I sell my art and feel that that is who I am.
Roger Dale McKinney oh indeed, and somehow by recently going back to my hometown for a month and a half, I rediscovered Supertramp all over again and it’s been truly magical.

Late 1980s, I had to take an ethics course as part of engineering studies. I enjoyed the course. The final time we had class was kind of laid back. What a great and under-rated songwriter he is. Just beautiful lyrics from deep in the soul. I well remember listening to my brother's copy of the LP "Breakfast in America" when it came out in 1979, we listened to it over and over again. It was like alighthouse to all the kids out there who felt out of touch and confused with the world that that was ok. Thanks Roger.

I love Roger Hodgson. His voice is just amazing... one of the best and most underradet artists in Pop/Rock artists ever. He definatetly is just brilliant.❤
One of the best songwriters of all time. His melodies are incredibly sophisticated and lovely at the same time. While his voice is different it really serves the intent of his songs. Profound influence on my life.
Never get enough of Roger, i'm 58 now but if it wasn't for Roger & Supertramp, i wouldn't be here today. i can thoroughly relate to roger when he talks about the failings in the education system to teach kids about who they are as individuals and prepare them properly for adult life! Education let's countless people down!
The school he talks about is “ Stowe School “ in Buckinghamshire where he was a Border , my sons boarded there many years later , it’s a beautiful school in the heart of the country side . He played a concert there a few years ago , very sadly I could not make it , now I’m desperate too see him in concert while he’s still singing live , one of my very favourite artists who writes the most beautiful music 🎵

This guy just has it all; Musical ability, great voice and the songs he writes are just incredible. One word sums him up WOW.
I love Supertramp and Roger Hodgson so much! This was a beautiful look in to his genius in songwriting.
The most sympathetic singer songwriter in the history of Rock n roll if you ask me.
When Trevor Rabin left Yes, he worked with Roger on songs that were never released. I wish they'd be released someday.
Never get tired of hearing this song. A true classic.
Supertramp to Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
when was a child , one of my teachers described me as " Delightfully Quirky " I was eight , the next year a teacher describes me as : Not taking his schooling seriously enough and needs to knuckle down " , I was nine , kids needs to be kids , let them find their way in their own time
Roger has always been the highly educated and one of the best ever songwriters/artists and truly inspirational performer.
Sweet words from this inspired guy, not surprising he composed such beautiful songs...
Graduated in 78...sent to Alberta Canada for the summer, bought this album and wore it out...then fall. I began life in art school...what a beginning...
Very nice little documentary and a glimpse into one man and his song and life
That man was a big part of my childhood, he has written so many hits
No, not enough, I wanted to hear the whole song, his voice is so soothing and what he shares up to this day it's still very true.
I love Roger Hodgson. His voice is just amazing... one of the best and most underradet artists in Pop/Rock artists ever. He definatetly is just brilliant.❤
Oh wow! This is beautiful. What an incredible artist he is.
He's one of the best songwriters ever. His songs touch people, hard to choose a favourite
Timeless, music lives on. Even now, memories come flooding back, happy times.
One of the best songwriters of all time. His melodies are incredibly sophisticated and lovely at the same time. While his voice is different it really serves the intent of his songs. Profound influence on my life.
I love Supertramps "Take the long way home"!🤘
It's been exploited to much for car tv commercials too much downunder
@@rods6405 That's horrible. It's one of the most soulful songs ever written.
Never get enough of Roger, i'm 58 now but if it wasn't for Roger & Supertramp, i wouldn't be here today. The songs kept me hanging in there, i know every song & lyric, i adore Roger's Soul, it was like i understood deeply, everything he was singing & saying. Love You & Thank You For you! oxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxxo
I love him, his music just captures so much emotion.
One of my very favorites of all times.
Music is the sound track of our lives.
I've loved this song since I first heard it when I was nine years old.
This was played at my friends funeral. God blessyou,Bri
Logical song definitely brings up a lot of themes studied by philosophers!
That guitar was his in-touch-ness with his father in the years he did not see him.
Man now I know why these song melody's resonate.

What an amazing human being! You can see the hand of destiny all over his childhood with being given the guitar and then being away at school where it became his best friend. Thank you for sharing video!
I can relate to this song and his quest. I went to a lot of religious schools, including boarding school and I learnt that God doesn't exist. I found Supertramp in my Teens (80's) and their music was something I could relate to.

Logical Song is one of those rare pop songs that are so close to perfection they never sound old or dated.
I love this man , What a genius musician he is ! His music has so much meaning behind it , Helped me through my life that's for sure !
Thank you Roger, you make a lot of sense. I KNOW EXACTLY what you're talking about.
Great music with deep feelings thank you for all the great music.
Oh my universe... All these beautiful songs... They are still so good... A genious... One of the best bands of all time; Supertramp.
Right on!!!
Still one of my Favorite Bands of all time 😊
Thanks for the love and support . I decided to take out time today out of my busy schedule to get close to my fans and know their thoughts towards my career and I came across you through my official TH-cam CHANNEL insight...
That song and the album were a milestone for me. In a rare moment of brilliance by a teacher when he let us bring in one song, this was it...then he told me to stop chewing (gum) like a cow. 14 years old. Dreamer...he knew I was a dreamer
His songs are classics ✌🏽
The words to this song reminds me of my innocent youth growing up in the late 70's and early80's
5:07: Forty some years later and his voice is still just perfect
I knew he was searching and speaking to God in his music. God created music! That’s why it’s so powerful when we seek him with it!
i can thoroughly relate to roger when he talks about the failings in the education system to teach kids about who they are as individuals and prepare them properly for adult life! Education let's countless people down!
For me, there's no Supertramp without Hodgson❤
Supertramp should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I'd say that nonetheless Roger did alright for himself.
Such a great musician and masterful songwriter. Really enjoyed this video.
why is this guy speaking exactly what my soul has been trying to tell me for decades?
This Is One of the Songs that always move me...
