      @@Grow_Up_Man55 I must admit I don’t have any but that’s because I’ve not the growing conditions for them over winter. I’ve got a few pitcher plants and Venus fly traps, and a couple of drosera, but they’ll be fine in the cold.

    Nice! Your neps lookin amazing (especially that X Rebecca soper, wow) not fully sure what's going on with that x hookeriana, looks like it may be a bit burnt (too much light? Rafflesia and Ampullaria do like a bit is shade so) also if I may put forward a "suggestion" of sorts. I noticed a lot of those plants (and I assume) are from Hampshire carnivorous plants if I'm correct. May I also recommend Scotland carnivorous plants! They specialise in nepenthes and they sell so many, also including harder ones incase you may want to grow one of the harder to cultivate species.

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Liam. The Rebecca Soper is my oldest - obviously, but it's been nice this year to see the others really start to take off after the first couple of years with little movement. Yeah the Hookeriana is knackered I think - probably time to try it again with a new plant. I won't give up on it though. Several of my plants are from Scotland Carnivorous plants. I'd get more as I know he ships them in from BE, but to be honest I find his prices are rather high for me. I totally understand why, and don't blame him one bit if the market can take it, but at present I'm reluctant to gamble on a plant for so much cash. Hantsflytraps are a little less expensive, although they don't have the same variety. I'm due a new plant at the end of this month (as a reward to myself for ditching desserts!) so it's a toss-up between a Nepenthes or an orchid. Which would you go for??🤣

    Amazing video!
    I have a Rebecca Soper myself, it was my first carnivorous plant actually! Making 3 pitchers right now plus a basal :)
    You mentioned that Rebecca Soper is a cross between Ramispina and Ventricosa? Its interesting 🤔 it looks just like it!
    I remember reading that alot of people aren't entirely sure what it's a cross of though, I read some places that say it has Gracillima, others that say Alba, and some say it's something like Ventricosa x (Alba x Ramispina) or Ventricosa x (Gracillima x Alba) or something like that
    The parents of rebecca soper have probably already been released and I just missed it lol, but still, gorgeous plant

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah since the video I've also heard a few stories of differing thoughts on its parents. I got my information on its parents from the website of Matt Soper - the actual creator of the hybrid. So unless someone is prepared to argue he doesn't know what went into his own hybrid, I'm happy to go with his description. Unless of course he's being deliberately vague to avoid anyone copying it!🤣

      @HelgrafFireHammer ปีที่แล้ว

      @TROPICAL PLANTS at 53 Degrees ah I didn't even know he had his own website, let alone that he put what goes into a rebecca soper on there! I'll go with Ventricosa x ramispina then, thanks for the info!

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks David. I didn't mention it - but any orchid feed would do - I use one called 'Rain Mix' and dilute it to about 200 ppm - I then spray about once per week. You can feed the roots too if you wish.

    That is strange that highlands grow better and are easier for u to grow bc most people find lowland to intermediate grows more successful

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It totally depends on your growing environment. I'm growing them in a greenhouse so my temperatures are more closely related to those from the highlands. I expect people growing theirs in a house would have temperatures more associated with lowland plants.

    What orchid feed do you give them? I’ve been giving mine osmocote pellets but I’m not sure than I like the results so far. I’ve heard people using maxsea but that stuff is ridiculously expensive in my opinion.

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use an orchid feed called 'Rain Mix' - although any orchid feed will do. I only use around 200ppm though. It seems to work pretty well as my Neps have never looked so good in the winter. Popping an osmocote in the pitchers can kill the pitcher off - so I've heard!

      @Bobby11083 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one thing I learned from re-potting Nepenthes is that they really don't care! I'd go ahead and pot it up into a larger pot if the roots are poking through. I made a video on my first re-pot here, might be useful: th-cam.com/video/_GIjw4ByW-M/w-d-xo.html

    Hello again! About my Swiss cheese again (sorry!) So when you asked if there were bugs, and I said no... Well I've found bugs! Aggggghg! Really small yellow things. The last uncurled leaf died off, so I decided to cut of off and unfold it - to see what was inside. That's when I found them, those horrid yellow buggers. 😭😭😭😭 This must be why the leaves are dying! Please, do you know how to get rid of them? I would be so greatfull of your advise! Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺🥺

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never heard of yellow ones - aphids maybe? Pity you can't post a photo on here. You've 2 choices - chemicals or organic. For chemicals buy a systemic insecticide, or make up an organic soap-based solution and spray with that. There are plenty of recipes for an organic spray available on the web. If it is aphids then the soap solution should work really well.

    • @ShroomClay

      @@Grow_Up_Man55 thank you! From a little bit of research they look a little like spider mites? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I am wondering weather I should re pot it completely as I don't know weather their on the roots or not. I also don't know were the plant came from or what soil its potted in. I'll definitely try a spray though - thank you very much! 👍👍👍👍

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ShroomClay Spider mites are pretty tricky to get rid of indoors. They're very very small and make tiny web across leaf joints. Neem oil might work for the organic method, and systemics definitely work but in my experience they return after a few months so would need repeated applications.
