I am not him. But I usually fluctuate around 1700-2000 elo. So you can trust me. #1: dont memorize opening lines, learn the principles, the "why's" Ex: why does ruy lopez put the bishop on b5??! #2: Play on total focus, with high confidence. At 1200 elo, you are better than most {casual} players. Be proud. Confidence boosts your skill ngl. #3: Watch GM games and try to guess their next move {or maybe thats too hard for your level} #4: Reduce blunders. Do a blunder check, triple check your moves. In rapid, take your time, dont move every second. #5: Dont waste time, dont make a random pawn move. There should be a reason for every move you do. #6: Stop doing traps above 1300 elo, please. Especially the englund. Guaranteed loss for you. Training plans: Watch Videos, I Recommend Chess Vibes, NM Nelson Lopez, and analyze throughly the positions he demonstrates, and also your games lol. Do puzzles, thats what made my pattern recognition great. Thats all. Hope I helped.

Btw, play the opening you are comfortable with. If you cant handle the Sharpness and risks of the sicilian. Try Caro Kann.
