4 Ingredient Red Applesauce Jello an Easy to Make Dessert

- The title kind of says it all. With only four ingredients there will be smiles everywhere. This recipe was found in a card box full of handwritten recipes that we came across when we were going through boxes in the garage, and I really wanted to share some of these with the neighborhood. I really think you will enjoy this old school Jello recipe, and thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. Hope your day is an amazing one, and love you all 😊❤️.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup 55g of Red Hots candies
1 cup 240ml of water
1-6oz 170g box of strawberry Jello gelatin
20oz one small can, 567g of applesauce
Whipped Topping ingredients:
1/4 cup 34g of granulated sugar
1 cup 240ml of heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon 2g of vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon 1g of cream of tarter
Recipe:
1) In a small saucepan, combine the Red Hots and water. Bring the water to a small boil while melting the Red Hots.
2) Once Red Hots are melted, add the Jello (gelatin) to the water, and stir till it is dissolved.
3) Pour Jello mix into an 8x8, 20cmx20cm pan, then stir in applesauce till completely combined.
4) Refrigerate 4-6 hours till solid, serve with a dollop of whipped topping.
Whipped topping:
1) In a large bowl, add sugar, heavy cream, and cream of tartar.
2) Mix ingredients on high speed with either a hand mixer or a stand mixer with whisk attachment, till stiff peaks are formed.
3) When stiff peaks have started to form add in vanilla, and whip a few seconds longer.
4) Dollop onto Jello, and enjoy

This unlocked a early childhood memory for me, I am 50 now, but when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I visited my Great Grandmother in Nevada, and I vaguely remember her making this except with those soft peppermint sticks. So I am looking forward to trying this.

I grew up in the 60's and my Mom made a lot of jello desserts. My favorite is made with small packets of lemon and lime jello., crushed pineapple drained and cream cheese. Jello is made up with a cup total of water less than both boxes call for. Drain pineapple well and save juice. For topping use cream cheese and add pineapple juice to make smooth consistency. After jello and crushed pineapple is hardened in refrigerator smooth cream cheese mixture over the top and cut out and serve. I was never a favorite of savory jello dishes but the sweet jello dishes I loved then and now..
@@jaynecoin9805 the lemon and lime recipe sounds really good 😊, we had jello as kids but it was always just the jello. Every once in a while my mom would put a fruit cocktail in it, but most of the time it was plain. It's like I've found a whole world of ideas with jello 😂❤️

@@lablover1972 it was very good for sure. I personally can live with or without Jell-O for the most part, but I bet I've eaten close to half of that pan, it seems to be calling my name from the kitchen 😆❤️
