Sekiro has some incredible instances of body horror, and the more you look into it you realize it's really all over the game. My favorite example is probably the Headless, who don't really follow the typical "gore and bones" mantra of body horror, but rather look like an actual bloated, pale corpse which washed up from the lake and started shambling around. Plus they have a grab which literally reaches into Sekiros bunghole to rip out one of his Chakras. The more obvious example is the centipedes that invade their ghosts and make them immortal unless you kill the centipede itself. Great video
Thanks for watching, and yeah I remember I went to fight the headless to get their item to help with the demon of hatred fight, and I always dreaded fighting them
I love body horror enemies as you get to kill them using the most inhumane but satisfying way, torching them. Whether its the incinerator of HALO, the hydrazine torch in dead space, the inciendiary grenades of resident evil or the meltagun in 40k
if i meet some biohazard type enemies id prefer to use some sort of weapon that straight out leaves only inert vapor and soot from a mockup of a proper organism
The Flood really are the quintessential Body Horror Zombies, aren't they? Whether it be the early, almost animalistic depiction in Combat Evolved, or the more focused, Gravemind-led depiction of Halo 3, there's always something severely... off, about them.
Baldurs Gate 3 also has lots of unsuspecting body horror moments. Like the mindflayers transformations, gnoll transformations, that disgusting parasite hatching area under moonrise tower.
A place I wasn’t expecting to see body horror was Red Dead Redemption 2. The famous example is that murder mystery quest line , but the thing that really got me was how Kieran died. The O’Driscolls sent his body into camp, riding his horse like nothing was wrong. Neither Dutch and Arthur know what they’re looking at. Then the camera zooms in and Kieran holding his own head with his eyes gouged out. Something about it was just so unexpected that I had to pause the game, and I didn’t fully know what I was going on until Mary-Beth screams that “it’s Kieran!” Then the game immediately throws you into a gun fight. I guess another scene I didn’t expect was Sean’s death but the brutality of Kieran’s death just stuck out more. I don’t know if this really makes sense but I felt like I could contribute here.
Damn, I don't usually comment at all even on big vids, but nice content man. I haven't thought about GTA 4 in forever. And I like the contrast you draw between so many genres, Sci Fi, Fantasy, etc
Dude this was an amazing video! Right before I subscribed, i was shocked that you werent a 20k or 50k subscription youtuber because your analysis and production quality is WAAY higher than your subcount! By the looks of it, this video caught the attention of the almighty algorithm, so hopefully you get plenty more subs because of it! Looking forward to your next hyperfixation! Also I'm curious, have you ever played scorn? The body horror is simultaneously expected and yet, otherworldly
bro I was skipping thru the video and just step on the Conkers part and I just paused the video on pure unexpected fear, I didnt expect to see that game here and yes, when I played that game (when i was like 8) I just get "traumatized" until now I cant play that part of the game haha
I never looked the heart of the GTA 4 statue that way, it's way creepier than i remember
Honestly me too, before making this video I never got a good look up close at the statue
Gta 4 analog horror should exist

Man, you just reminded me of the statue's heart in GTA and how scared I was of it younger; great memories!
One for the books!
It’s like the Heart of Mensis from Bloodborne. Even in a game like that it comes off as uncanny and unsettling.

I relate to body horror because my body doesn't feel human to me (I know it's ironic)
I hope this will get a shit ton of views
