Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Roger McGuinn and his wife, Camilla, recently stopped by the Growing Bolder Radio Show for the entire hour, and our cameras were rolling. With his guitar in hand, Roger takes an intimate look back at his 50 years in the music business and tells us how he continues to grow and evolve.
Go behind the scenes for an unforgettable session with a legend.
In Part 1, Roger explains how his parents' "fear" of Elvis Presley made him want to play music even more, and he describes the earliest days of The Byrds.

He looks really good. Hope he goes on forever. After Tom Petty's passing, we need Roger more than ever. He is an original.

@@cliffbarber6058Jim helped raise me. I chose water, but had to mix w oil to pay my room. He would and did do before electricity where ‘ build me a Boat ‘ has always smoothed problem over. Roger steered me in the ‘it’s not trick at all’ direction ( a sentence from a Byrds tune ).

Roger McGuinn is a treasure. His live showes are captivating with the stories he tells and the songs he sings. His guitar will make ones hair stand up, and his guitar solos are stellar. If one has not had the pleasure to see one of his shows, do so, he will make you feel good when you leave!

I wish Roger would slow down when he speaks , maybe its nerves but he comes over as 'gushing' . Maybe thats the way he is but he's never an easy watch in an interview situation.

This is in no way an insult to the great Roger McGuinn, but merely an observation: I think he’s slightly on the spectrum. It does explain any idiosyncrasy he might have. But it also explains his musical genius and his incredible memory/super consistent storytelling. I’ve always wondered this about him since I first started watching him being interviewed. Again, it’s not a diss. Just a different way a mind can function, which clearly has given us great things.

it's the law. seniors get discounts. it's the way it is. He should be
penalized? What about all the tax revenue he's generated, etc. He should get it free.
