This is such a beautiful place! I wonder how they know so much about what the rooms were used for. The colors are SO gorgeous in the paintings on the walls, which is a surprise considering how old it is. Do you think the paintings were re-touched?
I've read that in Pompeii, experts use a laser to clean the paintings before carefully retouching their faded details. I don't know about Oplontis. However, unlike Pompeii, most of the roof was intact at Oplontis, which would have provided greater protection of the paintings. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this beautiful and incredibly informative video. Our family was there in August and I was having a hard time deciphering the photos from the Herculaneum and this beautiful home. This gives me clarity and I can now go ahead and start making my videos. Thank you so much!
Glad that you enjoyed it. You may also wish to check out our playlist on "Ruins of the Roman Empire" for more videos on other Roman sites. Thanks for watching!
Glad you enjoyed our video. It was truly an amazing place. You may wish to check out our "ANCIENT RUINS" playlist for more videos on Roman, Greek, medieval, and megalithic sites on our "81stainless" channel. Thanks for watching!
Am having a project under process. About frankincense tree and how did other civilizations use it . We are covering the story of Nero when Nero burned tons of frankincense at Poppaea Sabina's funeral.
How very interesting. I've learned something new about frankincense. The story of Poppaea Sabina and Nero is fascinating. I wonder what all his motivations were. We so enjoyed visiting the Oplontis Villa - still incredibly beautiful after all these centuries.
