If any leader of any real strength had a rebellion he'd put their heads on spikes. Putin just let him recruit and retrain in Belarus. Cook and Moore, along with Jonathan Miller and Alan Bennett, came out of the Oxford and Cambridge student revues, and then were in the original 'Beyond the Fringe', kicking off the 'Satire Boom' of the early 60s. Several of The Pythons (and The Goodies) were in the Cambridge Footlights Club a few years later, becoming famous with the show 'Cambridge Circus.'
