I performed this over the summer, as a cellist in the strings. I didn't like it at first, but the more we rehearsed the more it grew on me. By the concert I truly realized how incredibly beautiful it is! I find this same mentality with Britten's works in general...what a great composer
Very great job,Mr.Stagni!Lovely performance!I also appreciate that you play natural hamonic (no stopped notes) in Prologue and Epilogue as intended by the composer. Sometimes it is so hard to explain this fact to conductors (or even audience)...I wish you my Best!I took bold liberty to enclose my own attempt:-) Sincerelly yours Ondrej Vrabec
I've looked at these pieces a few times, but put them down because I don't yet have the technique for it. Ainsley does it very well with hardly any visible effort, it's pretty amazing to see and hear.
Having sung this piece before, I know those notes which the horn plays at the beginning may sound a bit out of tune, but alas no. Those notes were right and were played exactly as Britten wrote them. Even now, many years later, my head still tilts a bit when I hear those notes. :)
There are some truly dire versions of this, but this comes close to the Peter Pears version. Yes, horn notes in the beginning are as dissonant as Britten intends... "dark gears grinding underneath the surface"...
adaptación de siete poemas sobre la noche y la oscuridad, entre ellas el canto fúnebre Lykewake y elsoneto "duerme de Keats",es una composión atmosférica y cautivadora.
Wow. Some of these notes were a little bit out of tune at the beginning, but then I realized you were playing a natural harmonic horn! That they were so clear and awesome is CRAZY.
