What some people don't realize is that inline skating is I would say the best form of non impact (once mastered) form of cardiovascular exercise there is. I can skate 10 miles without any aching, impact etc, I also know what running 70 miles feels like and can assure you that inline skating is much less damaging to the knees medium to long term. The faster you go the better the cardiovascular effect....but stopping really well is an art in itself....

But anyways knee problems mostly suffer people who don't regularly exercise, and don't do stretching - t heir muscles are weak and shortened with lack of range and this then cascades into joint problems. Those who exercise regularly regardless of sport rarely suffer knee problems. Knees are very robust joint and can take a lot of beating.

For some reason people are not able to understand the complexity of techniques involved in slides. There are many skaters who are good with Slalom on cones but I guess slides are less popular and that's the reason people in these comments think that its not a big deal.

i haven't broke an ankle yet, did fell a bit when learning stuff of coarse on a controlled environment not on the city streets, but hey because i learned this i can stop anytime i want no matter what my speed is or situation i am in and i haven't been into any accidents, if you don't like the sport don't and don't want to do it , don't dish on it , it takes a whole lot of discipline and dedication to do this stuff, people who sits in front of the computer whole day won't comprehend this kind of sports or any sports at all

Dude don't know if ur a skater I'm 56 years old sliding or side stopping have been around forever perfected in the skating halls in the black community check out sk8 or California slide roller skaters or Detroit roller skating sliding
It is soul wheeling. It is a very easy slide Do soul but put the other leg on the first wheel. After that you can learn that transition by skating backward and doing a toe compass
