- The band starts playing at the 57:50 mark
Immediate Family members are:
Lee Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, Waddy Wachtel and Steve Postell
The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome The Immediate Family to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate performance and conversation hosted by Executive Director Scott Goldman. The Immediate Family consists of five of the world’s most iconic and recorded session/touring musicians. The group began as a studio project, recording Danny Kortchmar’s upcoming solo CD, set to release this spring, with guest performances by James Taylor, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, and Michael McDonald. However, the core band on the album decided to keep the vibe going and take the project on the road.
On guitar and lead vocals is Danny Kortchmar, who has played, produced and written for James Taylor, Don Henley, Carole King, Jackson Browne and many more. Also on guitar and vocals is Waddy Wachtel, the consummate rock guitarist, who has played with many of the same artists, including many years with Stevie Nicks, Kieth Richards, and the late Warren Zevon with whom he co-wrote and produced a number of hit songs. The band also includes one of the most recorded and revered rhythm sections in the world-Leland Sklar on bass and Russ Kunkel on drums. Together they have played on close to 5,000 records, many of them classics in the rock ‘n’ roll pantheon. Finally, lending guitar/vocals and co-production on the album, Steve Postell is a seasoned touring/session musician who has worked with Jennifer Warnes, David Crosby and many others.
It took me over 30 years to not use my chops when I was a young bass player and drummer I always wanted to play like it was flight of the bumble bee now I know the whole note may be the key love the song and play it like you love the song I love you Lee
Just joined Lee's Clubhouse!!!!
Danny Kortchmar is the essence of cool.
Kootch don't need hooch!
I know the sound isn't great but hey, sometimes you've got to 'listen' between the lines and just appreciate what is being played!
Many thanks to Lee for all the directions to the various artists I am now listening to, especially these guys!
FANTASTIC! jus love you ALL!
I'm a total stranger , but TRUELY feel like family, through the power of the internet now @ because I've listened 🎶 to hours @ hours,
Of your 🎶 music, especially LEE ❤
Lee must be the tallest??
Peace, love @ human kindness
KIM-N-CAROLINA 🚣♀️
Legends,... and they earned every bit of it.
Love this band!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶
love these guys.. have been enamored with their work for years but man they need a real singer here
Ric Rovey wow guy...its’ an interview. The people in the audience came to hear them talk and share their professional experiences. Playing was the cherry on the top. It’s not a effing concert.
So great seeing Waddy & Danny. I saw them in the early 80's with Linda Rhonstadt. I saw Linda three times in concert in Pittsburgh,Pa. I just love them all!
These guys are wicked perfection. Awesome thank you for posting!
I love it..........................but the audio, sigh, ending on a hi note I was on a show as a-2. Don Henley/ Danny 82. Burnin lead. I can Hera it now. Thank you gentlemen.
what does a-2 refer to? Being a singer, the only thing I can make of it is 2nd alto. But I know that’s no doubt wrong...I always like to learn, so would like a translation...thanks.
W. Geoffrey Spaulding hi. The term “A-2” is a production title in the sound department. On that show I was FOH ( Front Of House sound mixer for the audience) A-2. I moved up soon after. 22, great times!. This is part of the IATSE collective bargaining agreement. Don is very particular. I remember Danny as being brilliant. Cheers.
Thank you very very much!!!!
Waddy " ONLY THE BEST"
Best to use headphones to be able to hear the interview a bit more clearly
Wow!!! Soooo cool all members... Lovely and makes me so happy. Arigatou.
1:25:13. Hell, we all used to work for James Taylor, lmao nice!
Darn volume too low for me to hear anything
VOLUME ALERT! If you have to raise the volume to hear these quiet fellas speak, make sure you drop it before they plug in, or your head might explode!! ;-)
Great tip ... just wish I'd read it before they plugged in ... and yeah, your prediction just 'bout came true, ha!!
So cool.
videos like this are why god created the internet
I agree 💯. I've been able to listen to music that I haven't heard in a lifetime.
God forgot the sound
Be nice if the volume were louder
I agree, a great deal was lost here due the horrible sound.
the sound of conversation... low down poor . taken from out the sound system ...?
It's a shame the sound is so pathetic here. These guys all have mics, but still can't hear clearly.
pathetic audio. For these guys deserve a lot better.
Wer's noch nicht weiß, hier bei Y. T. gibt es noch mehr geile Sachen von den Jungs.
Mal bei " Waddy Wachtel at the Joint LA "stöbern !!! Vom Feinsten
What does Russ Kunkel say at 28:04?..."Well, you'd better ____________"
dadduorp “...play something fucking good on that song”
The sound in the room during the interview is miserable. All the punchlines are getting dripped....
"The Beard" Leland Sklar. Putting ZZ Top, Duck Dynasty and Osama Bin Laden to shame! Tried to grow mine that long, but it stopped at about the Duck Dynasty guys length, but I'm old so it was white. lol :) Rawhk Awhn, guys, Rawhk Awhn...12symon.
but coolest is bassman
Not really crazy about Waddy's tone. Its sounds like a load issue maybe. I know he plays a vintage Les Paul, but my ears do the listening not my eyes
Clearly know fuck all about recording live then do you. Really think a tone is bad because YOU can't hear it?
Who does not know yet, here at Y. T. there are more little things from the guys. Have a look at "Waddy Wachtel at the Joint LA" !!! AWFULL
Karli Kryst why have a look if it’s awful?
Horrible sound on this video!
Not only is this horribly recorded. I would expect a more professionally sounding project. They need a proper singer, harmony stunk, the middle guitar player's solos were hard to listen to. These guys were/are supposed to be the cream of the LA scene...Really? God bless Waddy and Mr. Sklar, you always shine.
We all know you're better but this does suck
yawn....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
