    They both sound nice. If you're playing live, with a band, I very much doubt that anyone would be able to tell the difference between these two dirt pedals.

    I minimized the video and just listened to it, without looking which pedal was being played each time, and both sounded really similar. Thanks for the great video!

    The Caline has a chip socket so you can pull and swap at will. I have a jrc 4558d in mine and it is more open an smooth to my ears. A fantastic pedal for less than 20 quid!

    • @michaelbarber1123

      Grr Argh Yup. The Caline uses two TL072 opamps, while the BB uses one TL072 and one JRC NJM4558 opamp (which would explain the slightly warmer sound). Thanks to the chip sockets, it's a very easy swap. I'm sure that the caps in the BB are also of slightly better quality as well, though that's not going to make a huge difference in sound.

    Sounds a little bit diferent. Caline is more harsh and midfat. The xotic has more definition and warm. However it doesn't matter... both sounds great. This is excellent point for the dummies who attacks chinese brands on you tube!

    My Muff pedal died recently so I asked online whether anyone knew of a half decent cheaper alternative. A number of people suggested the Orange Burst but given its price and place of origin I was a bit hesitant. In the end I decided I'd give it a go, if it was rubbish it was hardly a big loss. Best decision I've ever made. The build quality is very good and the tones and adjustability for the price are outstanding. It seriously stands up to much more expensive pedals and I'm amazed it's slipped under the radar for as long as it has.

  • @canaan_perry
    @canaan_perry 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    BB does sound slightly warmer and a tad more refined but they're are very similar. I think by moving the EQ (rolling of some tops and boosting bass a little) you could get the Caline to sound more like the BB. For the price you can't beat the Caline. If you have the $ and need to go on tour go for the BB.

  • @marketingTUNEUP
    @marketingTUNEUP ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you Pablo!.
    Finally someone who knows how to do a demo Strat neck, OD tone and choice chords. Very Very hard to find the basics in online demos. Strat Neck or P90, Fenderish amp settings, blues crunch mild to moderate, noodle near the nut. After that, ppl go crazy all pup positions, humbuckers etc.
    Orange Burst - Like it
    Had to sell my BB, need budget version. Orange with bit more bass is close enough. Great demo option. Andy Timmons, E Gypsy. Spark of BFSR and the darker Mesa type Woody Lonestar. Andy is a tone master. Love me some Eric Johnson 2/4 tone/melody, but I like the lose Woody tones foundationally with a managed bright top liek BFSR.
    Pablo, if your looking for future pedal demo ideas consider Joyo Vintage OD.
    I am trying to listen to more than just crunch range, but musicality of the crunch and open low E. The Joyo has a 3d vibe to it that projects those low open Es nicely and the crunch sounds better to my ears then TS808. I am always on the hunt for a pushed BFSR tone. as a baseline.
    Btw, weird I never liked SRV tone when he used the TS.
    Always sounded very pinched/Middy/Muffled, but his non TS tunes esp on couldn't stand the weather and Lenny is amazing. Not sure why I am not hearing that in the Joyo Vintage OD pedal. Plus, the Joyo is unique in that if you max out the gain, its still musical!. Its a recent find. Maybe the honeymoon will wear off.

For example the 2 transistor buffer are not bc550 but another high gain npn. The treble pot was not 100k. It was changed to 50k but look BB Preamp got a 47k resistor im parallel with the pot so caline just put a 50k. See what they did ? Ha ha ha. Another than that ...pretty much a direct copy.

    I have the cheap orange one and it's the worst pedal I've ever played through. I really can't stress enough how much this Caline pedal sucks the tone out of the signal.
    I'm embarrassed to even admit I brought one. Bad, and not the good kind of bad !

    Caline orange sounds shitty compared to Xotic BB. The Orange burst is CCC,
    Cheap Chinese Crap.
