- We take pride to make sure that all of our Laguiole knives springs are one of a kind. Instead of using machine decorated or welded springs, we carrefully work "at the old fashion style", doing an hand made file work.

that thing is cutting right through the metal like butter.
Well if you think so it's most probably because you've tried to file an hardenned steel which isn't the right way to do. We are filing our springs BEFORE the heat treatment while it is still soft. That makes our file looking like competition models :)
I guess I gotta try some metal I know isn't hardened
Good idea; even though, try to work with a new file, not the one you own since years : you'll be surprised !
