    One of the best tutorials I have come across. Very much detailed explanation of how both the technologies works. In ripples applications, you can still use Ultrasonic Level Transducer using a still pipe around it and Echo Suppression in transmitters. In GWR when deposition on probe goes above the radar circumference it showns inaccurate reading. For those applications, non-contact Radar Level Transmitters are available.

      Do you have any history of the GWR being used in the graphite floatation banks,will it be able to distinguish between the dielectric constants of graphite slurry and graphite thick froth since both are highly conductive.

    I believe you are talking about Solids level measurement, where you'll see inclined heaps etc. Generally in these applications you can install ultrasonic level transducer aiming towards the center of inclined surface. Another factor you need to consider in it the amount of dust particles. If there is high dust in tank, then you should prefer to install High Frequency Non-contacting Radar Level Transmitter with easy aimer.

    Excellent. Do you have any comments or explanation on non-contact radar vs ultrasonic? Specifically ones I am told can be mounted outside of a tank that can penetrate, for instance, a polymer blank flange or GRP vessel wall, and in this way avoid any H&S risk associated with exposure to the process media or perhaps a potentially explosive ullage space?

    How would the feedback be in this application? I have a tank with an agitator. The GWR rod would be near the wall of the cylindrical tank. the agitator blades are nearly the diameter of the tank and are distributed vertically along the agitator shaft so that there is agitation from top to bottom. The Blades would frequently pass close to the rod at all levels as the agitator spins. At and below the liquid level, the passing of the blades by the rod would cause a pressure wave as the liquid is pushed against the rod. Have you had these in any similar applications? How was the feedback? If not, how do you thing the GWR would handle this application?

    • @FlowLineOptions
      @FlowLineOptions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dale Michaels If you suspect that there will be a space issue with mounting the GWR probe in the tank with an agitator you may want to consider an alternate mounting arrangement or non-contacting technologies. A couple of alternate mounting arrangements would be to mount a 1/2” diameter stainless steel tubing directly on the sidewall of the tank to insert the single rod probe of the GWR level system in. This can also be ordered from FLO-CORP as a coaxial rod probe option. Another option to consider would be to mount a pipe external to the tank with an inlet in the bottom of the tank to the external pipe and top connection from the pipe to top of the tank. This is also called a “side arm”. The GWR probe can then be mounted in the side arm. If these alternate mounting arrangements are not possible you may want to consider through the air radar like the Tracer Air transmitters (www.flowlineoptions.com/level/level-transmitters/non-contact-radar-level-transmitters/) or the Ranger Series ultrasonic level transmitters (www.flowlineoptions.com/level/level-transmitters/ultrasonic-level-transmitter/). Please keep in mind the ambient air space, properties of the fluid to be measured, pressure and temperature and tank height when considering through the air technologies.

    • @FlowLineOptions
      @FlowLineOptions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, FLO-CORP's Tracer 1000™ 3G Guided Wave Radar level transmitter is recommended for use in petrol tanks. Within the petrochemical and refining industries, GWR is used for measuring levels in distillation columns, crude storage, blending tanks, and liquified gases amongst other applications.

    our tank length is 3000mm, but we procured guided wave radar level transmitter from rosemount -5301 of probe length 2000mm, can you help us how to prolong the probe length, can we add extra 1000mm s.s. bar rod to the existing 2000mm probe and configure the transmitter to 3000mm?
    is it possible.

    Through the air radar is a different type of technology. This tutorial focuses on Ultrasonic (non-contacting) and Guided-Wave Radar (contacting) measurement. The radar is guided by the probe in this case. These comments are monitored by our marketing team.
