I saw this guy win a world title in Maastricht in 1981. He literally obliterated the the competition. The guy he faced in the final managed to put up a little bit of a struggle! 😊 I can't believe he is still going strong. He must be in his late sixties and still looking good!
I had the amazing opportunity to train under him at Budai. You think that his Tomoe Nage is unbelievable you should see the endless attacks in Ne Waza. Truly a Legend. Great Video!!!
In his competition days his judo ne waza was pretty solid..and his transitions from sacrifice throws to ne waza are legendary..people that dont know should look it up
Most people have no clue how difficult Judo or martial arts are in general. When I was in Japan I trained with a 68 year old man who was extremely small (a coral belt). He used textbook Judo and would launch me across the room with the energy I put into the training session. He was super nice too, the language barrier made it extremely difficult to learn though.
Whatever it’s called in judo, his belt was white and red. As I said earlier they spoke Japanese and I only speak English. I also have very limited Judo experience.
I'm a former Jiu jitsuka - which is more or less Judo + Karate = Jiu jitsu You learn to fall the right way, and not sustain damadge. In my time, i could be thrown around for an hour or two without any problem. The most difficult thing was actually getting back up again, since you tend to loose your stamina 😅
@@PpAirO5 I got taught how to break fall from a stuntman. Those guys sure as shit know how to do it correctly! Sometimes they have to leap, or get yanked head high up in the air and slam onto their backs on hard ground without mats. Hard core shit. He did confess that it hurts like hell, so it's not his favourite part of the job, but pays well. Fascinating lessons when he taught me how to do it, and every Judo school could do well to get one of these guys in for a seminar on a regular basis.
Hmm? The Judoka observing directly opposite the camera at around 4 seconds in ......Looks remarkably like “Len Hunt” a Red and White belt from the 1970’s Romford Do Jo! Life goes on then?
This is how you get to be a red belt like them. Get thrown around for 3 minutes See the dude in the laughing his ass off. He's like that was me once😄😄😄
Without getting hurt on a soft floor, like. If you fall on the street or on concrete, it would be another story... Aikido falls would work better there because you roll...
The most beautiful martial ever but for some reason died out in America taken over by BBJ. Rolling on the floor for 20 minutes is bullshit and nasty and dangerous while training. Judo can be a very effective self defense it’s really a shame no dojo’s exist anymore
That's just silly. Many people have effectively incorporated Judo into MMA including some all time greats. Fedor, Petr Yan, and although deficient in her stand up, Rousey was obliterating people with her Judo.
Tomoe-nage. Don’t know if there’s a specific name for the roll-through version, and I think around the 2:20 mark there’s a yoko tomoe-nage. But I’m not sure.
I only saw one. Which in judo I think is 9th-10th Dan. Saw 3 coral(red and white) which is after black, including the demonstration. Represents a senior rank.
This would be much improved for the viewer S an instructional video if the other party was actually trying to overpower or, even TRY to counter. He’s just a limp fish holding a gi.
This was the opening segment of a seminar from the legendary Kashiwazaki Sensei showcasing his techniques that allowed him to become world champion. His partner is following Japanese etiquette and allowing him do demo his moves freely.
You can still apply judo for shirtless, or what you’d traditionally train as No Gi like Jiu Jitsu. The handwork is just a little different. Wrist grabs instead of sleeves, underhooks, grabbing the head instead of the lapel etc…
I guess this was impressive in the 1960's now it looks like a game two little children would play. Like a mugger would come at you "open arms" to embrace you so you can play 'tumble, tumble'.... give us a fckng break!!
Videos as this are misguided for judo novice and others who intended to learn it. What is demonstrated has little practical value, or not at all. This is not a way how to learn Judo. Really, it is demonstration of Japanese inclination to perfection in details, what leads to astray of reality.
I’m not too sure where u got this. Dudes demonstrating how to do a technique. Some variations n a set up. U know who this man is, what he’s accomplished right. Dudes a national coach
Mad respect to the guy getting thrown around. Recovering after a throw is a skill in itself, and he's good at it.
Shoutout to the Uke too, don't know who he is but he is good.
Great ukemi!
I was at this seminar. He took a hammering that day.
What they call an “ok uke”!
The usual ukemi procedure if a sensei is demonstrating....
" Are you hurt?"
" No, just my bones...and... organs!"
That's why you spend endless and tiring hours of ukemi on the tatami

My Ju Jitsu sensei was a 100lb man. He would wear us out without breaking a sweat.

The last one throw was amazing!
The other guy: oh no. Not tomoe nage demo again
Lovely workout through the main directions for the tomoenage.

I hope they gave uke a free lunch after that one.

Amazing uke for a phenomenal demonstration.
No hiding on that mat....it would be nice to see the students trying what he's showing them
Beautiful smooth and balanced with speed
Amazing. This is way practising break falls is important! 😅

" judo who?"

Love Judo!
The same move over and over. Awesome
Alternative title: Watch one dude get tossed around for 3 minutes!
That's everyday stuff for a Judoka - toss around, get tossed around, repeat.
the fitness level of both men are pretty incredible. I would have poop out by the 2nd throw. :p
Wonderful variations of Techniques . Thank for sharing OSU !! 🙇

3 minutes of a guy throwing around a dude that is unbeliveably good at doing nothing but being thrown around. AMAZING!
Got em, you must be fun at parties
Mr. bean is tough taking all that throws.
Any judoka able to tell me what that last throw was? Sounded like he was discussing uchi mata, but didn't look like any I've ever seen.

The whole point of doing Judo is to learn something new every time you step foot in a dojo.

The dudes rolling with the other dude. Would be nice to see him offer some resistance. Looks like I'm watching Steven Seagal stuff.

There are no-gi grips that would work - the control of uke's gi actually makes it safer for his falls.

Is Judo effective when slamming an unclothed opponent? That's where the weakness of Judo is not optimal in doing counter attacks.
Yeah everytime I'm in the street I get into fights with shirtless people

He does it well but I learned stomach throws as a yellow belt. I don't get what's so impressive. Any master should be able to do this in his sleep.
Not what he does, but how he does it...
Notice the variations, though. I was taught one way to do that throw. He is showing some amazing different ways to get into it.
