      Trust me I felt the very same way. I thought I was going to kill it and that was it. These plants respond so well to pruning....you virtually can't go wrong. It will regrow. Just try a very small cut/prune on one branch to see the progress and to get comfortable before doing a bigger prune.

      It will root on its own. I'd say let it dry out completely in between waterings. Give it time and don't over water.....the plant stores alot of water in it's leaves so if you water too often then you will rot the stem.

      Hello. You don't need rooting hormone. I let them callous over for a few days then stick it into soil. I've never seen any difference in the rate of growth. And you don't need to do anything with the other cut portion of well. Easiest plant to propagate.

    Did you use a specific type of soil for Succulents? I read somewhere that you HAVE TO use cactus soil.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do use a cactus succulent specific soil as they are formulated for well draining ingredients. If you use a regular potting soil these are typically made up of mostly peatmoss which holds onto moisture. This is the exact opposite of what you'd want for a succulent.

      I think the general rule for pruning Jades is no more then 20% of the plant, but experiment with it. You should get two branches from where you prune so just imagine how the plant will look after you prune it.

    think i had a small jade cutting, it looked healthy but suddenly decided to drop all of its leaves and the top of 2 of its branches kind of seem to mold or wither.
    2 of the leaves had black spot under them.
    i assume it's not supposed to do that, but it went so fast, i cut of and re-potted the last tip. i've tried propagating some leaves but they quickly seem to mold, i've got plenty to try with now though.

    I wish I’d watched this before planting my branch cutting. I think it’s only half an inch in the soil. I didn’t think to cut off more leaves so I could plant it deeper. The bottom two leaves are keeping it from toppling over, so it’s probably just hanging on for dear life 😂 i’ll have to try and fix that. It seems pretty healthy though, it’s been growing like crazy.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it isnt rooted or even slightly rooted then yank it out, cut off a few leaves if you want and place it back into the soil. It will not harm the plant.
