- Weijian Shan, PhD 87, Chairman & CEO of PAG Group pulls from excerpts from his newly released memoir, Out of the Gobi: My Story of China and America. Shan speaks on his fascinating journey from a young boy growing up during the Chinese Cultural Revolution to his ascent to Chairman & CEO of private equity firm PAG, where today he oversees $30 billion in assets. Sent to dig ditches as a farm labor in the Gobi desert at age 15 and denied schooling for 10 years, he ultimately earned a scholarship to study in the US where he went on to earn an MA, MBA and PhD.
"I wanted to remind people what we went through and how dangerous it is to go back to the old days" 现今,封城+创门+各地各自为政+各种无厘头行为,真是好像走回了原来的路...
Just finished Mr Shan's book. Congrats!! Amazing story full of determination, and how lucky in spite of so much hardships. An extraordinary lesson of selfmade into a knowledgeable leadership. Impressive memories and his humbleness towards those less behind unable to be get further betterment in theirs life.

Hes got a great sense of humour
Wonder how much Tencent music worth today.
Has he been arrested yet?
43:26 Yellen is an economist, but we now understand that it is above all "her husband's wife", a disappointing discovery!
48:45 but your peer in China (you know what I mean) sure can ignite their people's hate to some other countries, just for resolving the domestic unrest. They can also spread fear -- even everything could be all made up. Either way works fine to continue the legitimacy here.
