Being raised up in a charismatic type of church, the first time I went to Mass, I was completely overwhelmed! I had never felt this close to God ! Entertainment based worship never touched my spirit like the Eucharist ! ( Not saying I was able to receive the Eucharist the first time I went to Mass... the first time only put the hunger for Jesus in my heart, ...it took a while before I could actually receive the Blessed Sacrament...and worth every minute I had to wait !!)
You are absolutely right father!!! Mass should be reverent! It is a such a special gift from our Lord! And so many Protestants believe that we are crucifying Jesus all over again on the altar and that is so wrong! Did not Jesus say do this in memory of me? And that is exactly what we are doing at the Mass! Yes oh, we are actually before the holy of holies! My mom used to tell me that you should be able to hear a pin drop at the consecration of the mass! God Rest her soul!
Having experienced numerous Pentecostal services they’re just rock shows with uncontrolled screaming... the music is used to control the people... the tempo... hypnotic even at times-it is a terrifying experience!!!
GregoCatal The outrageously loud music and screaming works them into a type of emotional - linguistic - ecstasy where they start jibber jabbering at other times they just babble because that’s what’s expected of them!!!
Child of God media.ascensionpress.com/2019/01/21/the-other-23-catholic-churches-and-why-they-exist/ The Latin rite is the biggest slice of the pie but not the only rite of the Holy Catholic Church. But I agree, the Latin mass is more reverent than the Novus Ordo.
Child of God very true, there is so much reverence in the Traditional Latin Mass. Receiving on the tongue and kneeling, and only Priests give communion, no peace hand shakes and people getting out of their seats, no applause. Confession before mass everyday at the church I attend.. It is truly a blessing. We need to pray for the clergy🙏🏻
Well, allow me to break up the Catholic exceptionalism, Latin rite only bigotry party by stating that: (1) This priest has a truncated, terrible, and ignorant view of Pentecostalism; sounds like some psychological self-hate issues going on there. (2) As a Pentecostal (Charismatic) Catholic, I'm FOREVER thankful to my Pentecostal roots for informing my Catholic theology/spirituality. Pentecostalism is a beautifully transcendent and deeply mystical Christian faith tradition where God is experienced and expressed through sound. The melding of Catholicism's silence is only a compliment, and in no way demands conflict. (3) The work of inculturation is so needed in our world. It's a shame that we allow people to become leaders in the Church without proper socialization and inculturation skills/education/experience. It shows in the comments and in the video. I respect his experience (if it is indeed true; he could be lying--religious folks do that more than they say they don't), but I do not respect his diminishing words, arrogant attitude, and disrespectful comments about such a beautifully rich faith tradition like Pentecostalism. Let's remember to love our neighbors. Peace and God Bless.
Amen sister! From an African American cradle Catholic who has grown up in and grown closer to Christ through the African American style Mass, I agree with you wholeheartedly. It really feels awful sometimes to hear from other Catholics a disdain for emotion or any human expression in liturgy as a "protestant" corruption. These folks are conflating a very particular and very Western European worldview on the power of God in the Sacrifice of the Mass. I grew up in the Deep South in the 90's going to the Charismatic Mass regularly and resonating with the multi-ethnic communities and expressing praise to God as I believe the early Church did, with reverent emotion and deep attention to God's movement in the Eucharist. MOst sundays I went to my Black Catholic parish where we also praised God with fervor in song, and joyful response though we never considered ourselves Charismatic, it was culturally appropriate and acceptable to cry or encourage the homilist with "Amens!". In both services I am struck by the deep attention to Jesus in the Euchaist as well as in the Word proclaimed. Folks moaned sometimes when the Gospel hit home and stood in wrapped attention. I love the Holy Eucharist however they serve it but let's stop trying to squeeze our 2,000 year old tradition and worship-which is the definition of diversity in every way-into a divinely stamped approved model. Be careful of idolatry I often think when I hear of folks touting one form the Mass as superior and correct over others. I am not condoning obvious abuses of the Eucharistic service where the nature the True Presence is obscured or some other cazy stuff but our church has had hundreds of rites and forms of the Eucharist and this won't change. What is important is that we are all Catholic and that we know exactly what we are doing when we undertake themystical opening of heaven to earth as we do every time we gather at the altar. Pax Christi brethren and sistren keep the faith!

100% this. So many people don't understand this at all.
Thank you Father. Beautiful and enriching talk.
Thank you Father. Beautiful insight.
It’s amazing when the truth is spoken and we understand, how deeply meaningful it is. Listened to it twice and I will again. It is a beautiful talk.
I wish I knew that when I was younger! But God is so amazing, He always have a plan B, or C , etc🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank you father that was excellent speech and well said!!!!

@GregoCatal
You're spot on. And if real charismatic speaking of tongues occurs, without Love, then it's just a clanging cymbal or castanets

Thanks to Holy Spirit...
Thank you for this! 🌹

Who’s this awesome Priest and where can I attend Holy Mass with him ?!? 😁👍
Excellent video from a very good Priest👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Fr Scott Borgman
He is now in California Orange Dioscease
This is the difference between Novus Ordo and the Traditional Latin Mass. Wish there were more churches that will offer the TLM. 🙏🏼😇🌎🇵🇭
don't be ignorant . these old sede arguments won't work out any longer . because in my life all the masses i have attended were very reverant.
💞💖💖💖❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We must return to the Latin tradition where everyone worldwide experienced the SAME MASS.

@@user-ks3qr5fk6m and that was my point. Most Catholics in the u.s. are barely aware of other rites or Catholic Churches.
Is Father talking about Novus Ordo or the Extraordinary Form?
Jesus is present in any form of mass of the catholic church.
