I've had the pleasure of owning a couple different warriors over my year's of riding. These are great machines without a doubt. A healthy 350 engine on one of these is stout and powerful for the size. I've had plenty of more powerful quads such as banshee but the warrior has more than enough power. If anyone bad mouths these quads well there just flat out wrong brother. If you've owned one, you've loved one.
Great bikes , I've got an 1987. Even though it's almost 33 years old and beat half to death and smokes a little now , it's minus 8c today and it fired right up with two pulls of the pull starter . If you can find one cheap grab it .
Great classic ATV. With proper maintenance the motors last an extremely long time. I have worked on quite a few of these over the years. I like how the engine is built. Fairly easy to work on. I remember in the days when these were released. This was considered to be a big bore sport quad. Only Honda had it matched with four strokes with their 350x ATC. Of course the winner in the cc contest was Suzuki with their 500. Love the older machines.
I grew up riding honda dirt bikes and got out of it for a while. A couple years ago I bought a honda 250x as my first quad ive ever owned and loved it. At the time my buddy bought a warrior and it left a bad taste in my mouth cause it was so clapped out. Ran like crap, suspension was blown so I swore I'd never own one. Fast forward and since then I owned another 250x and 300 ex. I sold an and decided I needed something a little bigger engine and overall size wise so I pick up a 92 warrior. Great shape, runs like a champ. Rebuilt the carb and she runs beautiful. This thing is awesome and I probably wont go back to honda again. At somepoint I plan to tear it down and rebuild the engine from top to bottom. Great quad and happy I bit the bullet and bought one.
I bought one for $1100 with full aluminum skid plates, rental bars, and exhaust, first bike I rode in about 10 years and figured it’s a solid 350,6 spd and has reverse. It was yellow and grey super clean. Bought a new brute force 750 and wish I kept it for the price I sold it for. Find a good clean one with a few parts on it for under $1500. Can’t beat it. And there basically the same as the raptor 350.
Aaron Martin TV I just picked one up Saturday, after correcting some of the po’s dumb shit i.e. the exhaust being loose hanging from the header clamp, with a booger welded silencer not bolted down, to an air box with no filter that had random loose hardware waiting to be munched by the carb... After repairing the exhaust, installing a cold air intake, and adjust the float level in the carb this thing turned into an absolute monster
Until the 400EX came out the Warrior was top dog of sport 4 strokes. Fantastic machine. I sold mine in 2001 and bought a new yellow 400ex. It too was a bulletproof machine I rode hard for 13 years
@@Greywolfwarrior they are getting old now days. Most of them will need a little work . But they are cheap and parts aren't real high. Usually it's bearing and seals in the rear axle and swingarm they need. Most will need a top end rebuild too.
Great video, I had a 1999 yellow and grey with the golden wheels, it was an awesome machine. Change the front sprocket for a 15 or 16 if you want to go a little bit faster, the engine is powerful enough to handle that.
Whats with all the hate behind these bikes? Sure they arent racers stock but throw some different sprockets on there, maybe a cam and they can hit 80mph. These engines are very reliable and bullet proof, provided you take care of them. I have one of my own and she eats 400exs off the line.
@@Yamaha350w these bikes are mainly slow due to lack of airflow. Ported and polished head will be your main source of power increase. Another thing you can do is install a webcam or atleast a stage 2 hotcam. Full exhaust with the right sprocket setup and 80mph should be easy. You can also buy a stroker kit but I wouldnt. Thats just me
The hate comes from uneducated riders that just can’t understand what this bike was built for…. If you cant tell the difference from a race bike and a trail bike you are probably missing a chromosome
I just picked up an 88 with a gummed up carb. I haven't even hit the dirt with it yet and I'm already loving it. I'll be loading up on parts and accessories soon and getting back to 100%.
Grew up either riding a warrior or with someone riding one. Back when we use to get together to go riding there was always at least one warrior. It’s a well rounded toy that’s good at everything but great at nothing but still a fun quad.
The Warrior was the very first quad with electric start, and is among the very first quads to have reverse, and a 6 speed transmission. The Warrior was and is an asesome machine. It withstood the test of time.
I've had a few of them , solid machines, well made, I never had any issues with the one's I owned besides basic maintenance. Occasional clutch here or there. They are fast enough, torquey, have reverse, tippy? lol maybe if you can't ride. From a mechanical engineering standpoint, they are solid machines.
@Jayden Lobbezoo the wolverine had all the worst qualities of the big bear 350 except you don't have low range anymore. They are just single range big bears with smaller racks.
I had a banshee when I was a young man got married the wife had to have an ATV and she just fell in love with her warrior and the day the truth I did two great little machine although it was not so little back in the day ATVs have come along way
this was my first quad same color and all, great quad , between this and my 400ex 01 they are the 2 most durable sport quads on the market in my opinion...great video broski
Me and my dad have worriors mine wasn’t going and I got it running and it’s going great and I ordered parts today for dads quads and he’s keeping his standard I’m nodding mine
My yamaha mechanic almost didn't take my warrior from lack of maintenance on it and hopefully his reliable and honest and gets it right so I can take over on the warrior and enjoy it
I have 1989 Yamaha Warrior 350. Bad ass ride new calipers new brakes rotors barons spark plugs and wires air filter my quad is very clean im my quad on face book. Anthnoy solomon mononghela
My friend had one and bored it to 400. Clapped the gears out the case about 6 miles from the house. I went to go back and a quarter mile later my kx 125 ran out of gas. Saw him down the road shaking his head. He left his phone house and mine was dead. We laugh about it now.
They're just like any other sport machine, reliable if maintained properly. I had a 93 when I was a teenager. Fun bike with unimpressive but smooth power delivery, a comfortable ride in rough terrain and a roomy layout. A bit long and heavy, Warriors are best suited to faster, more open trails. The Honda EX I had later was more nimble and faster in the woods.
Great Video about the Warrior. I am disappointed that suspension was not addressed, as rear shocks on these are known for failure. I can't imagine on this bike, that the rear shock was in perfect condition. currently own a 2003 Warrior and it is need of suspension upgrades (not to mention everything covered in this video). But everything else can wait. I can't even ride it with the rear shock bottomed out every time I sit on it.
Owned 2 Warriors, not the fastest quads, but in the woods there hard to beat. Low center of gravity, Had other more powerful quads but always ended up on the Warrior lol
I'm looking into getting a first trail quad. Only issue is my dad doesn't have the money. When i do save up enough to buy a quad, what should I start with? It's a throw up between the Yamaha Warrior 350 or the Honda 400ex. I have had past experience with a 1998 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and I think I want something with a little more power and speed.
400ex in the long run. The warrior will leave you wanting more power after you get used to it. And the 400ex has a bigger market for parts and upgrades than the warrior. The warrior is great for trail riding but the 400ex is good for trail but does better as a sport quad
My friend in highschool had a 1990 W-350, and I had a 89' LT250R. 1994 Drag raced in the dirt parking lot next to auto shop. Big Trouble! Almost got expelled. Told us to never bring back to school. We had a big crew, weekend sessions. After school. Good times. My LT was very reliable. 1 piston kit, well over 100 hours. Close call big jumps & tells. buddys warrior very reliable too. I have a 2002 warrior now. Bought used. Regular service. I put a 50+ hrs. No problems.
the thing with the older machines was they were normaly trail worthy, slower, lower and super soft shocks. new stuff you need to relave and spring shocks or $1000 eklas
I recently had a guy offer to trade me his 1989 350 warrior for a 2 stroke bike I have, he said the clutch is locked up and all it needed was a new pull string and a clutch. Still trying to figure out if it’s worth the gamble I have no idea what else could potentially be wrong with the bike
all the hate on these bikes. it's like he said they looked like a sportbike but in the end they were really a trail bike that could go to the track. They could be modified to be a serious racer, or just left stock to happily cruise trails.
