I think The Tree is a place you know because it is a place you arrive at when you understand why one goes there and are ready to accept its calling in the way that it reaches out. The Paper Pleasers tried to reach out to the tree to get there in the same fashion Jaune and co. eventually did.
Also, if you go back to how Ruby asked Herb to help them get to the tree, he was using the leaves to try and troubleshoot their potential identity issues, as that would help them understand whether they needed to get to the tree and why. It was a major miscommunication, but Herb was actually trying to do ask they asked. XD

Yup! Herb was acting very logically, but team RWBY and even the audience couldn't quite see that logic at the time, til later. Now in the finale it would make a lot more sense to them.

The horn fanfare and soft ‘watery’ music at the Paper Pleaser village are a variation on Jaune’s leitmotif. There’s a TH-cam video that has a collection of several of the times it’s played up through Volume 8.
Also, the chime sound effect when the Genial Gems are ‘waterbending’ is the same sound effect as Jaune’s Semblance. Most notably in 5.12 when it first manifested.

Yes! The music takes me a while to identify so I tend to leave it to people like Changyuraptor (who's the same guy who made that video you mentioned.) He's compiled all of RWBY's themes in those videos for quite a few volumes now. He's a good dude!

Yeah, the idea of Alyx being the Blacksmith makes more sense than Little or Juniper. Blacksmiths not only fix things (as well as doing other stuff), but every other creature we've seen ascend has ascended as a similar shape and served similar or opposite roles. The Paper Pleasers retained their star shapes as the Genial Gems and still wanted to help anyone they could. The Red King couldn't accept losing so the Red Prince cheats to ensure victory; and they both likely had similar porcelain doll appearances. Herb was a caterpillar with wings, but now he's a butterfly with legs. It wasn't the ability to fly that he needed, but the ability to walk; to face things head on rather than go around them. And his overall design remained the same. And if Alyx is indeed the Blacksmith, not only are both humanoids, but their roles are now opposite. Alyx broke everything, and the Blacksmith fixes everything, making them stronger. I guess now we just need confirmation, as well as to find out what happens to Ruby in her Ascension.

I was a little disappointed at how short the episode was, and I was also disappointed that the figure was actually Summer. Not that I really have any problems with it, I just don't like to be wrong. But also, it brings up a lot of questions about continuity and chronology because we now know that Ruby has memories of her mother in two different outfits, with the first of them being part of the team STRQ photo outfits, which happened BEFORE Raven left and before Ruby was born (likely before Yang was born, too). And they've been wearing those outfits for a LONG time. But this new outfit, as well as Ruby's age in the flashback, brings into question why the hell Summer changed her outfit without the rest of her team and also how long before she disappears that flashback took place. It has to be relatively soon given Ruby's age, but the flashback in V7 had previously been theorized to be soon before she left. As far as I know, anyway. I can't imagine many other things that would make Summer sad like that and turn away from her own daughter.
Also, the DC comic that filled in the time between V3 and V4, as well as some other gaps within V4 and maybe even V5 or between those volumes, indicated that Ruby didn't know what her mom's weapon was. Tai had told them it was a sword, but Qrow had told them otherwise and... Put together some sticks to try and show them. Though the sticks obviously don't look like her axe (which is fine, I doubt Kerry even had an idea of what her weapon was, then). But in the show, Ruby recognizes her mom's weapon, when she previously had no idea what it was. So is the DC comic non-canon now, or...? It's just all very confusing.
