Driving Around Downtown St. Louis, Missouri in 4k Video

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 9 พ.ย. 2023
- Filmed on Monday, October 9 2023, I drive around Downtown St. Louis, MO to see what's going on.
The area's history predates European settlement, being a significant site for various Native American cultures for thousands of years. From around 900 to 1500 CE, it was a regional hub of the Mississippian culture, especially noted for the Cahokia Mounds east of the river.
St. Louis was founded on February 14, 1764, by French fur traders and named after King Louis IX of France. It rapidly became the center of the French Illinois Country. However, the city's ownership shifted multiple times due to European wars, eventually becoming part of the United States through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. It played a pivotal role in westward expansion, notably as the departure point for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Throughout the 19th century, St. Louis grew as a major port on the Mississippi River and was one of the largest cities in the U.S. by the 1920 census. It separated from St. Louis County in 1877, becoming an independent city. The city hosted significant events like the 1904 World's Fair and the Summer Olympics.
Modern St. Louis boasts a robust economy with a metropolitan GDP over $160 billion, driven by sectors like service, manufacturing, trade, transportation, and tourism. It's home to Fortune 500 companies, major federal agencies, and renowned research universities like Washington University in St. Louis and Saint Louis University.
The city is also known for its sports teams, including the MLB's Cardinals and the NHL's Blues, and famous attractions such as the Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, and the Missouri Botanical Garden.

St Louis downtown is pretty nice!
Are you on crack?
Thanks for the video.
Ei amigo, adorei o passeio, muito obrigado! 😊👍👍
I might or do love st. Lous too. And I don't even live there. Though sometimes I feel like I do. Best to st. Louis and God bless.😢😮😅😊
Their downtown is quite nice, it's unfortunate that it's abandoned whenever the Cardinals aren't playing
From pics i' ve seen, it's beautiful at nite. So is atlanta etc. Thanks! Love it.😮😅😊
Videos of course too!😮😅😊
I've done a St. Louis night video if you are interested
@@exploreusacities seen one, but yes!
downtown resident here
Very nice 15:05
yes it's a nice block, there's a lot of restaurants on that street
Can’t judge St Louis off the city. You have to include the county imo. The city is tiny by land area. You’ll easily be in the county and don’t even realize it here.
Damn why is it so EMPTY? U would expect that a city the size like st. Louis to be a huge crowd gathering of people walking the streets and sidewalks but nope not a single soul in sight and thats a bit creepy.. Or is downtown st louis that dangerous?
I saw people walking. And people were driving!
First of all st louis isn't that big of a city the population is 286k and the description say that this was filmed on a Monday and it looks like early morning so most people are either at work or school or sleeping, most youtubers who makes these drive thru cities videos choose the least busy times to do it so they can get it over quick since the objective of the video is to show the city itself not the vibe nor the people
@@nadermilite5652that population you’re referring to is ONLY the city of STL itself. With it being an independent city that excludes the suburbs and exurbs. The total metro population is over 1.5 million. As far as downtown being quiet? The crime here has gotten outrageous which plays a part of people being weary to go downtown, and it was early morning hours. If the guy recording would’ve went through rush hour, he’d seen St. Louis turn into a mini L.A quickly 😂.
@@popesweetjesus5317 you from stl?
@@nadermilite5652 I’m from across the river in Belleville, Shiloh, Swansea, etc. but I’ve been commuting to St. Louis for over 15 years now. My father’s side is from there as well so I know a little about a little lol.
One word.. EMPTY!!
Probably a weekend or something though 👍🏼
Or early morning
The description say it was filmed on a Monday and it looks like early morning so most people are either at work or school or sleeping
I live in Stlouis the reason why it’s empty is because of high crime
Looks like you're on the highway
Downtown is empty due to politics, disinvestment and a extremely old system of thinking that should have been fixed a 100 years ago.
Nah it's literally because it's a Monday morning it's says so on the description of the video most people are either working or at school or sleeping
@nadermilite5652 thanks for the clarification.
Suggest wearing bullet proof vest going thru St Louis
you should have told me that BEFORE I made the video. thanks a lot...
Downtown STL is fine! All that foolishness mostly stays in the north side of town 👍🏼
I did Ferguson a while back and a police officer waved to me!
@@JUSAGUYNKY u have never worked in Dutchtown and Southside for last 15 years
@@user-ys6nw5ju9jyeah if you watch too much news you'll think it's a war zone it's really not that bad i have a cousin who live there for the last 4 years he said he never even saw people fighting with fists let alone bullets
