- In this tutorial you will learn how to make Easy DIY ENVELOPE BOOKS two ways! Organize anything from stickers to documents, journal ephemera, photographs, memories, bills to pay, receipts and more!!
You can make any size from small to large and you can use side opening or top opening envelopes. I will also teach you how you can have your books open all the way, or have the construction stay in book form. Either way you make them, your envelope books will lay flat when opened, which is a huge bonus. Enjoy!

Video made by Natasa from Treasure Books: Envelope Books DIY Easy! - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
These would make amazing travel journals! You could have 1 envelope per day and then have a few pieces of paper inside to write about your day. Then just stuff in any ephemera like receipts, tickets, keepsakes, etc. And when you get home you could glue your trip photos to the front of the envelopes that match what's inside. ❤
Seems more straightforward than trying to actually junk journal while away from home :)
super, super, super idea
Such a great idea!!
I love this idea! 😍
This is a fantastic idea, love it.
Fabulous concept ❤. And all the different uses for such journals is endless. As for the
"damaged" papers, you could dampen them with water then iron them to soften the folds and use them for collage papers. Perhaps you could also dampen the papers and scrunch them up a few times so the paper is an overall textured paper which I know I have seen you use so many times. I have no fears that you will have any difficulty finding a use for your "damaged" papers.
Great video with great advice on the use of the scoreboard.😊❤😊
I love these books.❤ I have lots of envelopes and this is a beautiful way to use them. I do use my scoreboard to make harmonica folds and they turn out pretty great. I learned that the score line you make should always be a mountain fold, not a valley fold. So I would score every inch and then flip the paper and score every half inch. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful ideas. Best, Mirande
@@creamade3235 great tip, thank a lot!!
Thank you for explaining why the scoreboard technique is NOT just scoring all at once!!! I always thought it was something I was doing, like not scoring in the right groove, etc…, I quit making books that required an accordion! Now I can play with it again, not getting frustrated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I find that the scoreboard itself can be difficult to achieve accuracy with. Natasha i girlie, you area genius & such a hard working perfectionist
!
Me too!!! It looked easy but was full of room for error. So I stopped doing it except for very eclectic fun loose wonky looks.
Waouh j adore les 5 créations.. je vais m en faire...merci pour cette vidéo ❤❤❤
Never done anything like this. I could see "a mess" happening before I even started. You have ROCKED it, absolutely Genius.
Definitely going to have a go tomorrow. Thank You 💕🏴
Thank you vers much for your very clear explanations ! I feel less stupid in front of my scoring board which tout often gives me unpleasant surprises...
I'll going to tryptophane quickly... I can't wait until I finish thé current album to start !!!
I can't choose one or the other, I love both and I Will try to do both...
Business to follow !!! With all my gratitude ❤
I've been racking my brain to come up with things like this to put in a journal for my sister. Except, she doesn't want writing space but rather pockets and such , just to put stuff in. This is perfect! Thank you for yet another brilliant idea.
Natasha is a genius - that's all I can say! I'm in awe of all these projects!
Thank you so much :)
You would not believe what I have made out of the collective teaching you've given us. Thank you for being you and being here to share it with us! ❤
P.S. I agree that practice makes perfect!
Always :)
Thank you, Natasa. When I first learned how to make envelope books, my instructor had all the pieces in a kit ready for us to assemble as we followed along with her instructions and guidance. At that time (about 25 years ago) we didn't have the creasing board with all the grooves in it for creasing mountain and valley folds... we folded each crease with straight edge metal rulers and bone folders. It was a wonderful experience taught by a master bookbinder. Watching your vid as you explained so well all the details - as you always do - took me back to that first experience of mine. Thank you for the trip back, dear Master Natasa. Your work is beautiful, professional, and inspiring. 💐🙏🏽
8:48 so I would try scoring every inch on one side, and in between (plus the end one) on the other side. (Flip the paper over to crease in between the first creases.) The reason is that when you use the stylus to crease paper in the score board, the creases should be folded from the indent side outward. (Valleys become mountains) my mother has a degree in graphic design and taught me this when I was young because what happens to the paper fibers when smashing them, is that the valley side of the crease has been stretched more than the backside, and will fold more accurately. Your method is a great alternative. ❤
Yes, it works if you score it correctly.
When they ask me on my deathbed what in life surprised me the most, it will definitely involve Natasha from Treasure Books and the sheer amount of things she taught us!
My most favorite creator on TH-cam! I ❤ Sundays when I see what you have created.
Thank you so much :)
The Queen of Perfect Creation strikes again! Your tutorial is beyond perfection, what I love about you is that the way you reveal what not to do on your discovery upon your experimentation on your creation that’s gives us minimal imperfections as we go along doing ours. The step by step tips & guides is very much helpful . have been watching videos to get an idea how to store documents in a book or journal form, none of it catch my interest in doing do until this creation of yours. Thank you so much Natasha for inspiring me in junk journal world!😍😍😍😍
Yay, Thank you so much :)
@raisinbren1992. Perfectly said.
I can tell, I can tell, 😂 that you are such an awesome instructor, Nastasa! I ADORE this idea of solely utilizing envelopes to create a journal. Please know that the extensive time you have spent in the trial and error phase of achieving such "perfect" results is so very much appreciated by this follower and has not gone unnoticed. ❤
Thank you so much ❤️
I just LOVE your intros. I've watched almost all your videos and always forget to say how much I love the intros. I'll bet they take a lot of work as well. ❤
Absolutely love this idea! Love that you can take a photo and create something so beautiful and functional! Thank you for sharing all your amazing talent with us.
Oh this is so wonderful Natasha thank you so much for getting all the kinks out for us. I will definitely be making this ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! 😊
I have to try to make one of these!!!!! PLEASE don't ever stop making or delete any of your videos!!!!
"Because why not!" That's my new favorite phrase now 😊 Brilliant idea!
Thank you! 😃
@@yogispeed287 right! She is amazing! How does she do it! Excellence!z👑🫶🏼💪🏼💥🤟🏼💫
Simply incredible. Natasha has the most creative mind I have ever seen!!!
Thank you so much :)
Natasha, i just want to say that you are an awesome teacher!
Perfection, you’re the only one that explains every detail, I love that you write it on the side also. . You never fail to amaze me.
You are that expert! Thank for all your hard work and perfectionism and excellency!
So nice of you, Thank you ❤️
I’m so excited!! What a perfect solution for my son’s school papers for elementary! It limits the amount of things I can keep (because I need to be regulated) and gives them one place to live!! 🎉🎉🎉 and will be a cute keepsake for when he has children ☺️
I figured my accordian folds were off because I'm not careful enough but never thought of a way to fix it, thank you for figuring it out. Your projects are so beautiful and inspiring. I love that you try for perfection but move on when it's not. ❤❤❤
I'm so inspired, Documents, Book to hold monthly bills, Book for holding greeting cards, painting journal with watercolor paper, A way to use up all those return envelopes. Ya, I'm gonna be busy. Thank you for another amazing tutorial.
I’m watching in bed…so tempted to get up and start one of these!
All of them are wonderful, I like it! Thank you again for this Tutorial! Every Sunday I'm waiting for you ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊
Since I had my accident and can no longer work.watching your videos have been such an inspiration to me.i spend so much time writing to manage my depression. I now make my own journal s I also now draw snd paint.nothing amazing like your journals.but its make me feel better inside. Thankyou for sharing your wonderful ideas.
Brilliant! I have too many envelopes, so this project is a must. Thankyou for showing this in a way I can actually understand.
Glad it was helpful!
With the scoring board, you need to do every other score (1") and then flip the paper over and do every other score (.5"). That will gid rid of the "traveling" effect.
I tried this method…it’s WONDERFUL…worked so well and everything was straight. Thank you so much for sharing.
I don't personally know you, but I love you. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and creativity...🥰🥰🥰
I absolutely love those for my office organisation and all kinds of projects. Since I was young (a thousand years ago), I admired paper shop windows and all the lovely journals and office stuff. Now, it can be so easily achieved due to your inspiring videos. That just makes me so happy and content, since journaling means so much to me. And alone to hold those beautiful creations in my hand or/ and to work in/ with them.
I love all of those but love the Sound and view when they spread ❤.
By the way, I have an idea for you (only If you like of course) and I am quiet sure, If anybody could work something fabulous out, than you: Pop up books/ cards/ ephemera with all kind of interactive popping up and fun stuff. I would love to dive into childhood dreams...
I cannot choose a favorite. I love them both! This is so timely for me because I am making a budget book where I also keep receipts for each week. So now I know how I am going to bind it all together. A million thank yous, you wonderful, excellent, gifted, creative soul! (I pray for you daily that you'll be saved because I want you to go to heaven when your time on earth is done.)
Everytime I watch I am blown away from your brilliancy!
Thank you so much 🤗
@@TreasureBooks You are welcome!
I get so overwhelmed when I see your videos. I love it!
Cuando a la creatividad se le suma la utilidad es doblemente hermoso!! 😍
I so agree!
Thank you ❤️
Fantastic, what a great project. Many thanks for solving the issues, that would have driven me nuts!
Glad it helped!
Okay the first 1 minute and 2 seconds of this video are soooooooooo satisfying. Now onto the rest of the video. Now I have watch the rest. Love it. And the end, to fun. Thank you for the craft and giggle.
Your intros are always so epic! But then you support it with amazing creativity, paper engineering, perfection, etc. You're such a brilliant creator.
Thank you 🤗
I really love this idea, thanks for sharing. I agree that accordion fold can be tricky... I use it a lot in my memory boxes. And YES to the quilting rulers! Before I started making journals, I used to make quilts, so I just continued using my quilt rulers - total game changer.
I love how you were able to make this come together, thru trial and error. They look fabulous. I have an abundance of envelopes that the flap will open on the side and I am gong to get to making one shortly. Thank you for all the tips, from scoring to folding and the side of the paper to fold on, you make it all look so easy. Thanks again.
Love this. Your directions make it so easy. I definitely will be making these. Thank you. Thank you.
Have fun!
What a great tip about the scoreboard! I don't have one, so I now have an alternative way of accordion folding! Thanks!
Oh my goodness...just what I've been looking for. A book of pockets. There's so much I can store in them and it'll help organize and tidy up my desks and shelves etc. You are absolutely brilliant!!!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching.
The one I like the best is labeled current. I'm glad you showed us how to use the score board to make the folds perfect.
Glad it was helpful!
i love the one you created in this tutorial but i also love the one where you put the scrapbook papers onto the envelopes - that looks very pretty - thank you Natasa - what a great way to organize our goodies!!! have a wonderful week xx
oh i wish i knew that secret tip when i was a child, and i am so grateful that i know it now, thank you dear lady
Thank you for sharing your talents with us! I am very grateful for happening onto your channel!
Thank you so much :)
I love your projects so much fun. My daughter and I I do them on Sundays our craft time together. Face time. So much quality time for us. Thank you so much.
I really love the one that is marked "Current". Beautiful paper decorations. That is the one I want to make today. Thank you for such lovely ideas; I love to make each project. 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing these! LOVE your darling humor! You are very talented!
I’m making this for my cousin, is planning her wedding, is perfectly to holding the papers .😍
I made this along with you and enjoyed it so much! I’m in the Houston area and Hurricane Beryl knocked our power out. Happily, I’m able to keep my phone charged and am really enjoying your videos. I also made the small journal you posted a week or two ago. SO MUCH FUN! Thank you for everything you do!
Wow! What great instructions!! I have seen people use the corner of something (like a scoreboard or a kitchen cabinet top where it meets the wall, if it is a 90 degree angle) and push the paper edges up to that when making the folds, of course the correct angle is so important and it has to be tall enough for all of your folds…you’re right, difficult to explain! Love the option of a pull out book or a non-pull-out book! I personally would want to see inside the pockets and might put acetate into the envelope front to achieve that. Wonderful project!! Love to combine pockets with single pages too…why do I complicate things? 💕💕💕
So beautiful! What a great gift idea for my mother, all her important things in one place! Thank you!! 😊
You are so welcome!
Thank you, just the project I needed. My son had asked me to make him something to hold receipts for him from his job. I have been waiting for some sort of inspiration to hit when I saw this video I knew this was the one!❤
Natasa! This is fabulous and I made one with you! I have been wanting a better solution to storage for current projects rather than boxes all over my desk. This will be perfect! Thank you so much! You are brilliant!!
Oh how lovely and useful they are. I must have a go at those. Thank you so much for the tutorial. Much appreciated 😊
I wait for your videos aaa-aall weeeee-eek lo0000-00ng. Thanks a lot for showing at the end ways to use the books and reasons for choosing openings (ease-of-access for ‘current projects’ books vs security-of-closure for ‘memories’ books). I was in shock when you showed the discrepancy of folding after scoring on a professional board. Wow. I always blamed my own clumsiness for such discrepancies, but you cured me. This is not me! Your demonstration was just perfect, not confusing at all. And I am excited, will make a couple of such books for sure!
It wasn't us, it was the scoreboard! Lol. Or at least the technique. Thank goodness for Natasha's clear instructions. At last I can achieve something with concertina folding.
They’re all so beautiful 😍 Thank you for sharing your experience so we can avoid the mistakes!! x
You are so welcome!
OooWeee. I was sweating bullets. I made a 5 count envelope. You are a rockstar
Natasa I lost count of how many times I watched this video is one of my new favorites. Thanks so much for teaching us how to do this. I just finished doing a couple of them, it wasn't easy but you helped along the way
& I had so much Fun. Can wait to make more.
These loook marvelous, Natasa! I have a ton of business envelopes to use up, so I will try this project out. When you were choosing a book plate for the one you made today, I said "no" out loud to the cork one! Glad you picked a better option. I'm also quite grateful for the improved methods you showed for making perfect accordian folds. Thank you so much!
Hello from Germany, thanks for this new idea, it's great. After watching your video I made one, so easy, due to your perfect tutorial. For the acordeón I used paper 120 g, and folded it manually. Perfect result😊 for the cover any a bit sturdier paper will do, since you cover it with 2 sheets of decorative paper it will be sturdy enough. I recommend using envelopes made of thicker paper. I only had the German thin paper envelopes, so I glued stamperia scraps onto the flaps, being larger in hight, the width of course same as flap, just cut off the excess. So you can decorate the flap, too. I also added pockets, resp. Created flaps for envelopes I had cut open on the side, since I had only those with flaps on top. Thanks to all your great tutorials I always find a way to use what I have and to adjust. And the ribbon spine is nice, more sturdy, looks so nice. I love the way you explain all, easy to follow, and it really didn't take long to make this nice booklet. And then you can freak out with decorating the pages with stickers, flowers, that's so much fun! Take care, hugs from Marika, Germany.
The folding of the spine paper is key. I'm trying that myself. Thanks for sharing!
You can do it! Thanks for watching :)
I’m working on advent calendars from junk mail envelopes. I LOVE THIS OPTION for binding! Thank you so much for the video. I have all sizes of envelopes and if I get creative, I can figure out how to have all 25.
Great idea!!
I am not frustrated, so i guess i will be making a few if these. Looks like fun and a test of determination. All designs are unique. So i do not have a favorite. Thank you Natasha for sharing with us and i really enjoy your antics.
Love the fresh new idea!! Thank you! 💕
Love this! I plan on making one for my important papers. This are much cuter than plastic folders for storage.
I have some beautiful envelopes I've been hoarding for a special project. Hoard no more! I'm off to my craft desk. Thank you!
Oh, I like that!! Thank you for working out how to do it! And thank you also for explaining what goes wrong with accordion folds--I thought it was just me. Glad to know there's a work-around!
Happy to help!
Love them all. And the larger one is my favorite. Thanks for sharing it with us
Thanks for watching!
Love it. I think the big document one for birth certificates and other important documents etc is a great idea. Especially as a grab and go, if you ever had to evacuate due to flood or fire.
Absolutely!
You really did your research, once again, for this awesome project! I am so surprised that the scoring board did not work for this! That’s a real head scratcher! This would make an interactive journal as well! Thank you, Natasa! You are the Wonder Woman of Junk Journals and other cool stuff!!
Perfect timing! I’ve been entertaining the idea of making the greeting cards from my kids into a book, but had no idea how to make that work. Tada!! An accordion book and now I even know how to finally fold one to perfection! Thank you for sharing your secrets!
Wonderful!
Wonderfully explained, thank you for all the important tips and tricks. This accordion album idea is perfect for me; I scrapbook the page first, then place in the album. For longer 'stories' I could insert a 4-page signature in one or two folds. And I would use the ribbon method to hold it all together, but not until all pages were ready to go into the album so that the tension would be perfect for its bulk.
What a lovely project. Thank you. I like the way you tell is what issues you have instead of just showing it working perfectly first time. ❤️😘😘
I was planning to make a document book for each of my daughters to keep important papers. This is perfect! Thank you for all your practicing so we can get it right! I really appreciate your effort and your clear explanations!
Thank you so much ❤️
I love the envelope books Natasa, thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
I cannot wait to try this next. I have made a garden journal using your other videos. So beautiful
Thank you so much :)
All are beautiful! Bravo ! You are very professional and patient to show us every detail. We really appreciate it ! Lovely!
Thank you ❤️
Love the strawberry book!! All of these are fabulous! Thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Brilliant absolutely have to try this project. Thank you so much for the wonderful explanations.
Thsnk you for watching ❤️
I bet you are a hoot to hang with. Love your impressions, I giggle every time you make a funny. LOVE ! LOVE! The envelopes… will definitely be on my “ to do list” this week.
Oh thank you! Have fun!
Oh my gosh! This is such an awesome idea! I have a vacation coming up and I always collect different papers and items to put in my journals. I’m gonna make one. I hope I can get it right. Thank you so much. ❤😊
Have fun! Thank you for watching!
I love this idea! Even more so, I really enjoy your teaching method and unique sense of humor 😂
I love the strawberry paper! They're all great. I'm going to attempt to make one today & if I do ok, I will make the ex. large one for documents. Love them all. Thanks for sharing!
Loving your funny voice comments 😂
I'm going to make a few of these for storage. Thank you!
I wasn't even 7 seconds into the video and I was amazed at your creations. The accordion slide on the one journal was phenomenal. You can take the mundane and create real treasures.
Thank you so much :)
Thank for this excellent tutorial.i appreciate your sharing all the problem solving in order to get perfect folds and placement, as well as the perfect corners on the cover. I love these journals. They would make excellent gifts.
I love watching you create such beautiful projects. You are so gifted. You also have such a wonderful sense of humor. Thank you for sharing your creative designs.
Omg 😱 Natasha. Your so so amazing
I love all these. I wished I lived close to you maybe I could learn a lot from u. I’m not this good at folding paper 😮. So amazing
Absolutely love it!
That one I will do for sure.
Thanks for the idea and tutorial!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing this accordion tip I love to make these and I get so frustrated with myself thinking I did something wrong. Now I've got the secret thank you for sharing❤
What an absolutely awesome project. Thank you so much for enduring the frustration of getting the folds to line up. I’ve used my scoring board plenty and always wonder why scoring multiple lines in a row always results in something crooked. You are an amazing paper engineer, but you also have such a knack for combining materials that make projects instantly identifiable as a Treasure Books work of art. I can see myself making these for my kids’ teachers to give them something that’s gorgeous and handmade, but also very practical. Thank you for yet another wonderful tutorial!
Thank you for sharing this accordian technique. Love this project!! ❤🎉
Glad you like it! ❤️
The construction reminds me of old compact photo albums. You could even alternate between clear plastic pockets and envelopes, to display some of the contents. This would be such a pretty way to display one's prints for sale at an artist alley! As always, thank you for the tutorial and for the inspiration.
Thank you for your accordion spin technique. Now I better understand how mine were coming out so wonky. The envelop journals are useful format. Love them. 👏👏👏😎
Glad it was helpful!
These are absolutely fantastic! I can see having a whole collection of them! ❤❤❤
Totally!
Thanks for sharing Natasha! I made one along with you and just had to pause you and rewind you a few times lol. I made the one with out the restriction on the binding and I think I'm going to make a few of these and give them to family members. It's very cool thank you. I have some pretty gold regular letter envelopes that I'm going to make some for my daughter-in-law I think she just had her second baby my second grandbaby, and I think this would be nice for keeping all of her new baby memorabilia until she has time to put it in the album I'm making her lol
Awesome Project! I used the 9x12 inch envelopes and folded them in half to have more pages. I also used material instead of ribbon for the spine.
As always, U has overcome yourself - COONGRATS! I LOV'em all. I'd could put extra envelopes inside the covers.U filled us with a lot inspired ideas. TFS 🌟✨🌟
