    I have the original LX100 and love it. I wish Panasonic would add a flip screen, weather sealing and a mic input. They wouldn’t be able to make them fast enough. Oh well I think I am going to stick with my old one.

    I got it a while ago, as a second camera next to my A7riii. I was worried I would be disappointed sensor wise. But I grabbed it because I had good experience with the G85 and it looked and felt very good in the hand. While its not the same as a full-frame sensor, it is pretty spectacular once you get used to it. Its now my carry with me camera all the time, great for street, Instagram, and great for macro. Its a real the best camera is the one with you sort of thing.

      That's why I want one. I love my Sony a6000 but I don't want to carry it with me into a restaurant or on an outdoor workout. I was concerned I would be disappointed with a smaller sensors image quality especially for portraits. This sounds like a great camera to carry with you just about anywhere.

    I bought the original one 4 years ago and it is still my favorite camera the only major downside that still has not be corrected (I checked some amazon reviews) is that even if you take care of your gear the lens will suck some dust inside. It got cleaned once under warranty and then it happened again. Many users had this problem and it really sucks.

    I have the original LX100 bought for travel and holidays and it's been so good in producing some very high quality images but recently dust on the sesor has been an issue and on researching this online it seems this is common place which is why I am disapointed this problem has not been addressed in the Mark 2 version with better sealing
    Great review though guys you certainly are making this channel your own looking forward to more this year

    • @rreichar1
      @rreichar1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      DP Review had a quote from Panasonic in their review of this camera "There is no additional urethane sealing used but we have a countermeasure to prevent the dust ingress with the LX100M2. There will no longer be a gap when the lens barrel is moving." I agree that the camera should be sealed but it does sound like the problem was addressed to some degree.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rreichar1 If it's not sealed, then you could maybe take it out with carefully used vacuum cleaner. I am thinking about this camera, I bought Canon G5X Mark II, but I am disapointed, it has really bad autofocus, exposure measuring acts weird and it have very bad batetty life, do you think that this Panasonic will be better for me? Also, from what I found, it should have 0.7x finder, which is same as on my older G7, while that little canon has tiny 0.5x finder and that's really difference.

    I have the original LX100 and it's my travel camera that I've taken everywhere. I never feel like I've missed my Full Frame DSLR when using it. A few new features of the Mark II is nice but not worth the upgrade for me.

    I have the original one and apart from the dust on sensor problem like many people seem to have, it has been a very nice camera to use. I would have been very glad to upgrade if the new model had a 5 axis IS, articulated screen, dust proofing..

    Haven't used the original LX100 nor this one, but i have to say the images look REALLY nice! Really good for such small pocket camera.
    This MK II has some improvements, but not a whole lot for the original users. Makes me think of another similar Panasonic updates, like the 20mm f1.7 II, etc. Very minor updates sometimes.

    I honestly felt that this nine minute long video wasn't much of a review, but more of a regurgitation of this camera's spec sheet. The Panasonic LX100 II was probably the most boring update of 2018 and the comment sections are full of disappointed reactions. Four years is a long time and it's still the same body, same lens, fixed screen, video recording remains an afterthought, now with a bigger crop factor you only see AFTER you press record (?) and there's no mic jack, even though the body is definitely big enough. I would rather grab a used original for 1/3 of the price and practically get the same camera.

    I own 3 Nikon DSLR bodies, 9 lenses and a P7800 (which I recently said goodbye to). 3 years ago I was intrigued with the LX100 and bought one. Glad I did. For a street camera it excels outdoors, quick autofocus and one handed operation is easy with a wrist strap. For low light situations I still go to my D750, but the LX suits my purpose. Image quality outdoors is outstanding with the 4/3 processor and leica glass. I won't go into great detail but for less than the price of most lenses, it's well worth it. I pretty much stayed away from the mirrorless war. That being said, as good as the LX100 is, I can only begin to imagine what the S1r will be like when it's released later this year.

    I liked the review, but I wish the camera was more feature-rich. They did the same thing they did with the GX9. FWIW, though, I've printed road-side advertising with pictures taken with my GX85, so there's definitely enough resolution there for large applications. Don't let the hype fool you. Just a few years ago, 16MPX was only available to the highest tier of pro DSLRs.

    .... and don’t forget, the sensor does not have a ‘Low Pass Filter’ making it (all things equal) very similar to Panasonic GX9 with respect to image quality. Indeed, I have both cameras, but the GX9 has top-of-the-range Panasonic Leica DG lenses .... for other photography applications. I use the Panasonic LX100 II is for hiking/backpacking - ideal camera!

  • @Kusanosuke1

    I have the Leica version (D-LUX Typ 109) of the original LX100. While I love the camera, sensor dust is a serious issue. Every time the lens extends or contracts, it creates a vacuum that sucks in dust, no matter how careful you are. I'm very disappointed this was not addressed in the Mark II. Nevertheless, the images are superb as long as you don't use the digital zoom too far beyond the optical zoom of 75mm. If you do, the fall-off in resolution is very noticeable as the images can get mushy at the long end. Today in 2019, comparing the Mark II or Leica version to what else is available beyond a 1inch sensor and at a similar price point, I'd go with the Fujifilm X100F.

    Hi I really need some help and advice please. I would like to buy a compact camera with a good zoom, good video, picture quality, touch screen if possible, anti shake as I have a small tremor and RA in my hands but I really would like to buy one and finally take nice photos of birds, family so fast moving, night shots and would like to photo water that looks like foggy/steamy if you know what I mean. I am a pensioner (in my 70s so a young pensioner), so cannot afford a lot. I bought an Olympus Pen 10 camera just before the pandemic but then we could not go out. But trying it on birds in the garden and horses in the field where I lived, I realised with these hands not a good idea to have to keep changing lens. Could you please point me in the right direction please. I live in Uk. Many thanks.

However, Evelyn is so gorgeous that I could spend hours just listening to her talk about nothing and still be happy. She was a perfect choice. I do miss Jordan more, however, these guys need to get their video person speak more. It is more believable when the actual guy behind the lens puts in their two cents.

    Shooting from a place where losing the camera could hurt somebody below is outright irresponsible. The first thing every responsible photographer should do is attach a hand strip or equivalents to the camera's body.

    Super disappointing that the screen doesn't articulate. Why don't the developers get the message?? There are SO many cameras that would have been WAY WAY more popular, if people could use them for blogging. Even just from a tactical perspective, it would be smart, because all the youtube reviewers tend to like cameras with this kind of flexibility, so they are likely to be more positive about it. Not having an articulating screen now, in 2019, seems as dumb as if a new car would be released without and electrical window lift.

    So in short: We've tested it for 3 months to find out that there are almost no changes compared to the 1st version and you probably should just buy the old one.

    This looks like amateur youtubers early video, who try to promote some shit without even knowing about the product.
    If you buy camera, buy real camera, not this hipster toy. My phone can do the same job, or even better, plus it's waterproof.

    • @PaulAmyes
      @PaulAmyes 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      How big is the sensor of your phone? Does it have a zoom lens? Does it have a genuine multi aspect sensor as opposed to just cropping? Does it have a real variable aperture with fully manual control ring? Does your phone have full shutter control on a separate dial? Does your phone allow you to have full external TTL control of flash?
      When does a camera stop being a camera and become a toy?
      Why do you have to be so rude and obnoxious?

      @@PaulAmyes what's difference between croppping and "genuine multi aspect sensor" ?

    • @PaulAmyes
      @PaulAmyes 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bh69videa A multi aspect sensor allows different aspect rations such as 4:3 , 2:3 , or 16:9 to be recorded at the same resolution. Whereas with cropping you are reducing the resolution of each aspect ratio as you drop from the original sensor size. Gordon Laing explains it really well in his description of how the GH5S uses a multi aspect sensor at www.cameralabs.com/panasonic-lumix-gh5s-review/

    • @bh69videa
      @bh69videa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulAmyes thank you - so it's a bit bigger sensor that allows all formats to be in their maximum size.
