its a known fact that A Monotype team is less advantagous than a balanced one(as evidenced by how easy it is to beat any Gym Leader provided you have the right type coverage on your team. Red just needs to Spam ice, fairy, and dragon moves, which most, if not all, of his pokemon team get.
If Zinnia gets Rayquaza Red should be able to get his Mewtwo :P btw I think Red is stronger when you compare actual in-game levels, actual achievements (becoming champion of Kanto etc.), and (overused statement incoming) when you realize the actual Red is you the player and I myself and probably most people here can defeat Zinnia.
Answering the QOTD: It depends on if the characters did the right moves at the right time, properly predicting their opponent's moves, you know, the regular Competitive Battling stuff.
In my opinion, Red's stronger than Zinnia. Not counting Mega Rayquaza (which I hope'll never be canon, cause it's a bit OP) Red has an overall more diverse team with higher levels to boot. And in a one-on-one of Mega Charizard X Vs. Mega Salamence, my money's on Charizard, especially if it's Red's. But besides levels and team composition, Red's feats in battle surpass Zinnia's by a pretty good amount. After all, he managed to canonically beat and capture a Legendary.
Pokemon Origins is, theoretically, canon in the Mega Evolution timeline. I see no reason for it not to be after all. It's some of the best things the anime ever made, in my opinion.

This battle is completely pointless. First, the scales are way in Red's favor and second, all of Red's Pokemon love him, giving him an unfair advantage. Should have been two people who knew how to battle rather than a stupid A.I who spammed hurricane when Blastoise was that low on health.

One would assume that just because you control Gold, he never beaten Red, but you also controlled Red at one point. However, the anime seems to contradict this. I believe in the manga (plural), Gold also had beaten Red. So I suppose it lays more in subjective than objective. Subjectively, I daresay Gold beaten Red, and Hilda/Hilbert are off somewhere in Unova in a similar situation to Red, Calem/Serena are also probably like this in Kalos. Brendan is off somewhere, unless I missed him in the anime or manga(s). Anyways, I find it a bold claim that Red is the STRONGEST. I'd sooner say Lucas is the strongest, assuming he has access to the Creation Trio. Though not needed, as there's some pretty strong Sinnoh Pokemon, which can be easy matches for Johto/Kanto Pokemon.

I believe in the manga (plural), Gold also had beaten Red. So I suppose it lays more in subjective than objective. Subjectively, I daresay Gold beaten Red, and Hilda/Hilbert are off somewhere in Unova in a similar situation to Red, Calem/Serena are also probably like this in Kalos. Brendan is off somewhere, unless I missed him in the anime or manga(s).
Anyways, I find it a bold claim that Red is the STRONGEST. I'd sooner say Lucas is the strongest, assuming he has access to the Creation Trio. Though not needed, as there's some pretty strong Sinnoh Pokemon, which can be easy matches for Johto/Kanto Pokemon.
