About showers, I shower either after work (which happens to be in agroculture) or before sleep, because then I have a reason to shower, mainly to not enter dirty into the bed.
The first thing I do in the morning is pet my cat. The second I wake up, I call her name and she jumps on the bed. She is most affectionate in the morning.
My 98 year old grandmother brushes all but the 1 tooth she lost, cracking hickory nuts, right after every meal. If you really want to save your teeth, don't drink soda's.
How switching from soda to water saved my back teeth: When I was 20 I went to the dentist and they said look, all the molars down one side of my mouth were brown. When I was 18 I got addicted to lemonade, and drank a 1.5l bottle a day. When I was 19 I suddenly decided to quit and start drinking water. The dentist said drinking the acid sugary soda was taking the calcium out of the enamel. But when I switched to water the enamel recalcified and the teeth became healthy again, just stained brown.

All great advice for 9 to 5 office workers in a very moderate climate. Sweaty shift workers in hot climates have to listen to our bodies and come up with a personalized routine.
I spent a lot of time in the tropical Sri Lanka. I showered daily (often twice), but used soap only for the groin and armpit areas. Still, within weeks parts of my body were covered with dirt because in the high humidity the dirt sticks to your skin, so you actually do need to shower not just daily in an environment like that, but unless you want to look obviously dirty you need to use the soap for the whole body, especially lower legs.

I think showering everyday depends on what work you do and what country you live on. I live in a tropical country and not showering for a day really makes my body and hair greasy. Plus it's hot on the day so I think showering everyday is needed to avoid bacteria accumulating in the body

The study you linked to about peeing sitting down says: "Conclusion For healthy men, no difference is found in any of the urodynamic parameters. In patients with LUTS, the sitting position is linked with an improved urodynamic profile." Why does this mean EVERYONE should pee sitting down?
Don't get me wrong, but for us, showering everyday is a must, not sure why but most of the time we shower in the evening at 4pm everyday. Without showering, it feels uncomfortable, for them, not me.
I sit to pee mainly because I am female but also because my cat barges into the bathroom and jumps on to my lap. I don’t have the benefit of leaning forward and elbows on knees, but I get the stress busting benefit of petting my kitty!
One of my buddies (who's a pretty tall guy) once told me that he sits down to pee. I laughed in his face and called him a girl. He then said that it was just too rude for him to stand because of the mess, to which I kind of had an _ooooh, ok_ reaction. -Two years later- We've moved into a different house, out in the country, where both of the bathrooms' windows face south. This means that I'm often going into a sunlit toilet when I stand. Now I sit down, or go outside; after you've seen all the tiny splashes in full sunlight, you'd have to be a pig to keep doing it. It shouldn't take a team of physicists!
OMG thank you! It's an absolutely filthy habit and I can't understand why people actually teach their male children to do it. A toilet is a toilet and a urinal is a urinal.
I had a friend who is a plumber who love lecturing everybody about this exact topic. He had to take out so many toilets and replace them due to rotting floorboards LOL and I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve gone into friends apartments and seen this yellow fuzzy funk covering toothbrushes and every service and surface in the whole bathroom. I explain to these people that if they ran their finger over this funk and smelled it that they would smell urine because that is what that is. Aerosolized fallen and condensed urine over every surface in the bathroom
@@miguelangelcifuentescruz689 I used to do paint and wallpaper for a living, and unless someone actually routinely cleans them, the walls, cabinets, shower curtains, etc, next to toilets accumulate years and years of microfine urine splatter. In bad cases it'll "pickle" paint, and like dude commented earlier it'll literally eat holes in sub-flooring. Men generally have no clue how much of a mess they make while peeing standing up, and women often don't want to deal with the upset it would cause to even suggest men sit down to pee. So the women just shake their heads and clean it up, while men remain clueless about it... and then they BOTH teach their boys to do it rather than address the urine-splattered elephant in the room. It's legit crazy lol
@@suzbone In our defense, it's pretty unnatural to sit down. Our plumbing 'bends' in such a way that it doesn't completely drain out until we've stood back up. The sitting down has been quite an adjustment. As such, I go outside whenever possible (as I've said, we're out in the country now). Except for when it's cold, going outside is best. Funny how we've developed a cultural stigma that causes people to believe otherwise. As though it were vulgar! Why would you want to use a chamber-pot, even if it does self-empty? It's still in your house! And it wastes water. One more thing, girls: urinals are no more sanitary. Those are just angled toilets that're more convenient for us to aim at. And since this thread is already a gross-out, I'll also tell you that the stand-close geometry of a urinal causes it to splash even more: especially with respect to the guy's pants, belt, and shoes. They get micro-pee everywhere; even on the guy who's elbow is nearly rubbing yours as you both stand there uncomfortably staring at the wall, wishing you were peeing in a field the way nature intended. I stopped using those when I was a teenager. I'd rather go into a small-mouthed bottle.

Hitting the snooze button is a tough one for me. Occasionally, I'll only be half-conscious when waking up, and rarely I will stand up, walk over to my alarm, turn it off, and go back to bed, and have no recollection of it.
I wake up way before my alarm most mornings, immediately brush my teeth before putting on makeup, doing my hair, and getting ready. I then make breakfast and coffee which I consume about 75min after waking up. Why do I do mornings so well, cuz I go to bed on time which is 100% the most important item for a good morning
If I don't have a coffee before 7 am during the week you are going to risk a lot of human casulties. "There was no coffee" is usually a valid introduction in local crime reports.
My body simply refuses to stay on a consistent sleep schedule, and I often wake up just enough to turn off an alarm then fall back asleep. I recently found that the best way for me to wake up is to set two alarms, one an hour before I need to get up, and one when I need to get up. That way, I always wake out of light sleep
1. Don't hit snooze 2. Wait at least 5-10 minutes before looking at your phone. 3. Pee sitting down, not standing up. 4. Shower less than daily. 4.1 Shower 3 minutes, wash only armpits, groin... 5. Brush teeth first or an hour after you've eaten. 6. Drink Coffee after 9am but before 12pm, after 1pm but before 5:30pm or wait an hour after you've woken up for caffeine. ... I think that's everything.
When I was in my 20s, I NEVER hit snooze. Instead, I set my alarm for the absolute latest I could sleep and then I got out of bed as soon as the alarm sounded in the morning. I always went to bed early because I LOVED sleeping. I could sleep, and sleep, and sleep... And I was always tired.
Isn't that how you should it? Before going to bed, you set up your coffee maker or microwave to be done with your coffee at 07:00, you set the alarm to go off at 06:00, and then you snooze it until it reaches 07:00. Now you go and get your phone, coffee and toothbrush+paste to the shower. Remember to check all those notifications while going for the coffee and towards the shower. Drink the coffee right away, and then while showering, you brush your teeth. You can also relieve yourself in a squatting position in the shower. Remember to shower for 3 hours in hot water, with stronh bacteria killing soap all over your body, and shampooing your hair, every day.
As far as the urination goes I sat down for 10 plus years, mostly because I have seen splashing in literally every house I ever went in full of men and I lived with all girls for a portion of my life being married with 2 girls. Anyway I now live with grandmother who is unable to move well enough so she gets the Toilet seat gross, I began standing up to pee and the muscles used when standing to pee had weakened over the years, when I was in 1st grade I won the daily peeing contest by peeing a good ten feet away, when I began standing up again after so long of sitting down I couldn't hardly pee 2 feet and it wasn't easy, relaxirelaxing those muscles by sitting made those muscles weak. Now Im back to normal and yes I clean the seat daily after my poor old gross grandmother....
I only drink decaf tea and coffee, I shower evenings 1 day a week in winter and 3 days a week in summer unless there's heatwave where every day is hot, I usually sit to pee and I get up when I'm awake (no alarm). I check my news feed maybe 2 days a week around lunch time and I never check my social media. I brush my teeth only before going to bed. I have tried breakfast every day and I've also tried (for 3 years) having no breakfast and find it slightly easier to maintain my weight having a 1/3 of a cup of rolled oats rather than nothing.
Showering every day can mess up the natural skin layers? So what about washing my hands? Am I not supposed to wash my hands several times a day? What's the difference? Washing every day does not make you necessarily cleaner? Most people sweat and are exposed to outside elements along with having daily bowel movements and bathroom trips......I think I'd prefer to shower daily after all that.
I have psoriasis and having a shower every day proves to be beneficial for me. Also I work in shifts so sometimes I shower in the evening and sometimes I shower in the morning.
you got the phone thing the wrong way around. you aren't more likely to get depression if you're using your phone, you're more likely to use your phone if you have depression also the email-anxiety correlation is kinda obvious because more emails usually means more work
Quite interesting. The showering part reminds me about the French expression: "faire sa toilette", which simply means washing your face, intimate parts, armpits with soap and a glove. What my olders were doing. And not having a shower every day. Which also use much less water BTW. It is funny to realise that for one the old way of doing is a priori a better one.
14:20 acctuly there is a lot of wrong things in coffe, specialy the fact that is a natural laxative... and it is in fact a drug, too much caffeine in one's boddy can cause serious problems.
I wonder if the time spent in traffic en route to work affects productivity or feeling awake. I also wonder if the type of alarm used affects how your body reacts to waking up. I always hear those gradual-light alarms work well, but I wonder if it is rooted in science. Lastly, blackout curtains. Do they make it harder for you to wake up, or stay awake? Is it harder for your body to reinforce a Circadian rhythm if you don't see sunlight for a period of time after waking up?
Reminds me of when my son, was young. He would go the the toilet in the night. In the morning there would be pee all around the front of the toilet. On night I saw him. All sleepy, he would sit down, and wizz straight ahead, out the gap. Ya never know, sometimes.
I really need my nearly non-existent circadian rhythm to get back on track. From about 2;30 to 5 in the afternoon I could just drop off to sleep at any moment. But beginning around 7 PM, I'm alert and and fully awake. This continues to about 1 to 2 AM. Suddenly.. my body puts that into the blender, hits the "Frappe'" button and mixes the hell out of that. Sometimes I can go to bed and pass right out. But most of the time. I'm half-dead at work, then at night, I'm staring at the clock as the minuets and hours pass.. But most days it goes like: Body: "She has been in the comfy position for 10 minutes. Turn on the ache machine!, and that arm under the pillow.. make it feel as if it is on fire and about to fall off. The spine shall begin to tighten and send pain signals to the brain" Me: flips over and lies another way. Body: Give her 12 minutes. Then .. unleash the pains of hell. Top it off with a sudden and desperate urge to pee." Me: Gets up, pees, lays back down. Body: Now drool like a biblical flood, and make the ear on the pillow feel as if the Alien xenomorph is trying to emerge from her inner ear. Me: flips pillow, lays on back in coffin position. Booty: I'll go numb and ache at the same time. Brain: WE'RE FALLING! Legs: KICK!! Saliva: Gag her! Asshole on motorcycle driving by at 1 AM: Rev.. Revv..VVVVRRROOOOOOOOMMMM! Reeev Rev rev.! Bladder: I'm full again! Bowel: Me too. Me: F--K IT! Watch youtube. Afternoon time.. Body: She's driving in heavy traffic. Lets flood the system with melatonin. OK Pineal gland! OVERDRIVE!!!! As far as showering: If my body didn't think it needed to be the new source of oil, and try to produce 10W30 out of every pore... I can scrub and scrub in the shower. As I'm drying off, I feel the oils just oooozing out of me.. Especially my face. If OPEC ever discovers my face...
It starts even earlier. Lots of people are sleeping with room doors and windows shut, and many people additionally use blinders to keep the light out. Both is disadvantageous for your health and activity levels. Why? You're breathing, that means: converting O2 into CO2, and as there's no fresh air coming in, the level of CO2 in the room will rise to more than 1000 ppm, which makes you dizzy even when awake (many people feel that from about 700-800 ppm already). And blocking out sunlight means blocking out the natural trigger for your body to activate as soon as you got enough sleep. Both effects are much worse than drinking an early coffee.
It is no fun cleaning up after women who hover over or stand up on the toilet to do their business. They get it everywhere. They are too delicate to touch something with their booty that someone else touched with their booty but don't mind making a mess that someone else might sit in, and someone else definitely has to clean up.
I was a little confused with not showering everyday, I’m a firefighter and exposed to soot, ash, and carcinogens. Also in our gear we sweat a lot. For that I shower everyday, would that still be damaging to my skin?
If your occupation requires you to shower regularly, it is generally recommended that you only use a sensitive body wash that is kind to your skin and that’s aims to remove the dirt but not your skins natural oils etc. Thanks for watching
@@truepeacenik That's what I've been hearing the last decade or so, I noticed when I used to work private security internationally and sometimes only able to bathe with bottled water for sometimes a week or more my skin would be more soft when I got a proper shower but then would dry out not long after getting home and showering daily, I didn't put 2 and 2 together for several years then I would just shower with Dove soap (we didn't have a lot of alternatives back then) Mon, Wed and Fri and plain water the rest of the days and my hometown can get in the upper 90s F in the summer with very high humidity, I never had complaints even from women I lived with though they would never dream of not lathering up totally every day.
That coffee time thing sounds interesting..... Because my body naturally craves coffee around those exact times you say I shouldn't be drinking it. I also become stressed out extremely easy when I do not consume coffee at those times. While I do try and limit myself to one coffee a day during my morning routines, I often feel exhausted and irritable. Unlike when I'm frequently consuming coffee during every meal 8, 12, and 6 pm.
I now set a timer so that I have my coffee an hour after I wake up, and then limit myself to only one more (occasionally 2) for the rest of the day. I can't survive without the stuff ☕😋
I only have a SINGLE cup each day, in the morning, when I wake up... looks like I need to wait an hour instead of grabbing it almost first thing. What an informative video!
If you sweat, you should bathe. Using super hot water/harsh soaps, or vigorous scrubbing, isn't generally necessary, but do please bathe, people. Also, you actually should be bathing when you return home after being out in the world and before getting in your bed, instead of when you wake up in the morning before going out--and, if you think about it, you realize why.
yay! nailed it ! Do not have any of those bad habits. Now I feel very good about myself. I knew I was right all along. Thank you science, and thanks debunked!
Pretty reasonable on every topic except showering. How do you expect people who live in hot climate country to not shower especially ones who work and exercise outdoor in the heat. It feels so dirty covering in sweat and not take a bath.
The peeing while seated myth is a good example of a very common phenomenon. One single study, seems to indicate something, so it gets repeated over and over, without being confirmed. Eventually the information is everywhere, so people assume it must be true, and accept it as fact. But all "studies" and research is worthless, until it can be reproduced. There was never a valid reason to claim that sitting to pee was a better choice, but it is accepted as fact by many, and you will never change their minds about it now. Just like we see in politics, people believe what they want to believe, and they don't let facts get in the way.
@shoved to the right? I suppose when I said there is no reason, I should have said no biology related reasons. Fear of an angry wife is a real, and valid concern. So is "splashing".

What if you have a soft alarm that disappears after 30 seconds, have used it a long time, are cognizant of it; and you _don't_ press the snooze button, and gently wake up gradually, according to the schedule you know to be true? So you let the soothing alarm run through, aware of its presence, and take mental note that after about 1-4 times, you will finally dismiss the alarm for good while rising out of bed?
Please do shower Everyday! Twice a day if you live in a warm climate. Soft soaps don’t harm the skin. you wash your hands with hard soaps at least twice a day and there’s no harm to your skin.

How switching from soda to water saved my back teeth:
When I was 20 I went to the dentist and they said look, all the molars down one side of my mouth were brown.
Also don't brush your teeth for 30 minutes after eating acidic food. Such as lemony food or tomatoey food.
tbh i only drink sodas when im having fast food, since its served w that and it tastes really good. in every other case, i only drink water. though right now, bc of my braces, i cant drink soda at all

The key is not to let the water get too hot. And sweeten with your favorite honey instead of sugar.
Three minutes, no way. I shave in the shower and it takes over three minutes for that alone. Plus, hot water on achy muscles or on the back of my neck during a headache can be a godsend.
Don't you waste water while shaving in the shower? What's the logic behind it?

The problem with the coffee example is not everyone works the morning shift and people's sleep schedule can vary wildly depending on there work schedules. Like someone that works 11pm to 7am probably isn't going to drink coffee at 8am anyway
If you are a young man, who live outside parents house, or at least have his ovn bathroom, then sitting down greatly reduce how offten the toilet need to be cleaned. At least that was something what was a big + for me.
That's exactly my problem with these lifestyle tips videos.

Agree. I grew up on a ranch and got dirty every day. Then, I joined the Army and got dirty all day. Now, I drive a truck and get dirty all day loading and unloading it. Giggity
One of my buddies (who's a pretty tall guy) once told me that he sits down to pee.
I laughed in his face and called him a girl. He then said that it was just too rude for him to stand because of the mess, to which I kind of had an _ooooh, ok_ reaction.
-Two years later-
We've moved into a different house, out in the country, where both of the bathrooms' windows face south.
@@leslielandberg5620 Holy fuck that's disgusting

Sometimes I can go to bed and pass right out. But most of the time. I'm half-dead at work, then at night, I'm staring at the clock as the minuets and hours pass..
But most days it goes like:

Hmph. Don't shower every day? Try staying hygienic in humid-laden South Florida. Just stepping outside for a few minutes results in a full body sweat. Uuuuggghh.
I'll agree, though, using an excess of soapy products is harmful, but a rinse-a-day is definitely necessary.
please make more videos on mistakes we are making!!! this has helped me so much, and made me a lot more productive!!!
RE: Toothpaste section. There IS a medical/scientific reason though! Its the Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates in the toothpaste that attach to the tastebuds and cause sweet flavours to be suppressed while bitter flavours are enhanced. :D
Great addition 👍
hmmm.. so baking soda? or no tpaste? would allow me to enjoy my gin juice and coffee

Singed up for Magellan to watch the Why Are We Fat docuseries,… it’s no longer available. Where can I find it?
Sorry about that. I’ll find out if it will be available again soon.
Sorry I flip burgers and cook onion rings for 12 hours every day. I'll be taking a shower every single night lol.
Exactly I work at Qdoba a Mexican fast food place the smell gets on ur clothes and sticks to ur skin
Showering everyday for some is required. Especially if they work in commercial kitchens and sweat profusely.
bold of you to think i wake up in the morning everyday...
I eat and then bath then brush my teeth. I just don't like brushing before I eat.🤦♀️🙆♂️
I know this video is about morning routine but paying attention to your sleep cycle should still be mentioned. You're guaranteed to be sleepy if you wake yourself up in the middle of your sleep cycle.
I rarely wake up extra groggy or in a bad mood. I do need pills to stay asleep. But, don't get any grogginess from any of them. Even if I wake up early. I don't know, if that's a personality trait or the fact I do try hard to get enough sleep overall. It seems a lot of people live in sleep deprivation. Maybe that is more the issue.
There is always a TH-cam to tell you what you are doing wrong. If you are a good moral person who has found contentment in life, then just keep doing what you are doing.
I'd rather sit to pee first thing in the morning, but with BPH, I get a substantially better flow standing up, especially if I lean forward and put a hand or two on the wall behind the toilet.

Could be useful to someone.
I got rid of all social media around june 2020, dont even miss it, but i do use my phone mostly for music and youtube
glad i'm a hermit, minimal phone use, over 20k unread email, no stress here.
Yeah, I hardly ever check my email. Most of it is just mailing list stuff.
My emails were mostly just recent updates to google's services. Nothin' special, so emails for me are considered useless since I've never really use them, I use emails only for logging into accounts, and that's it basically
@@yopapasburgeria yep
the coffee one is just a myth. I've read an article about that and could not find any good research to back that up. Not to mention, ppl have different circadian rhythms and cycles based on the times they sleep. My 8am is different to yours if I don't wake up til 11am, and vice versa
In the beginning, God brewed a pot of coffee. After a couple of cups he got down to business.
Most people get up and eat breakfast. You should only do that after drinking a lot of water! You just went many hours without drinking, and you need to re hydrate! Drinking water first will also help prevent over eating.
I do most of the things correct
Pee - check
Shower - check
Phone - well, not really but I dont get notifications and I just watch TH-cam and play games
Brushing - check

What if you have a soft alarm that disappears after 30 seconds, have used it a long time, are cognizant of it; and you _don't_ press the snooze button, and gently wake up gradually, according to the schedule you know to be true? So you let the soothing alarm run through, aware of its presence, and take mental note that after about 1-4 times, you will finally dismiss the alarm for good while rising out of bed?
Yeah I have to shower daily and I'm gonna keep doing that no matter what you say.
Please do shower Everyday! Twice a day if you live in a warm climate. Soft soaps don’t harm the skin. you wash your hands with hard soaps at least twice a day and there’s no harm to your skin.
Love it! Make more where you bust some routines and make us healthy!
I spent 5 minutes scrolling trying to find a hero who posted all the points in the video. There is no hero here.
This is part of the problem with our modern relationship with science, it’s not meant to tell us how to live. It tells us how the world works but it doesn’t mean its the best bet for all people at all times. Life is not a science, its an art.
I never shower in the mornings. But I've been having coffee after getting up for a long time now. I've had really early starts with my past job and still do with my current (I'm up at 4:45 am 4 times a week and 6:45 am one day a week. Maybe I should try the 'waiting until 9 am before drinking coffee' thing. 🤔
If you want to keep someone's attention keep things short and to the point. Or you can just over explain everything while I skip ahead.
You can speed it up, i found it very educational
I mean, its not supposed to be more fun than informative. If people want the information they will have the patience.
If you use organic and natural toothpastes without strong smells, you wont get the weird toothpaste after taste when eating your breakfast.
