In game 1, why would they ever bother placing 3 4 11 for a free road when they already have strong brick and wood? You're the one who has zero wood, they win the race no problem.
Game 1: Winning after getting plowed twice was crazy, sick game! Anyone have any idea how red misplayed or what Phantom did right, I feel like he shouldn't have been able to win that? Game 2: I like 6/5/11 + 3/10/9 and go to 3:1 first, forces him to 4/3/6 and gives you great chances for road
22:30 I would have taken the 5 9 10, point down to the sheep port. And 3 9 11 (for the road) and point up. You will force him to either get road materials or you can plow him to the 8 10. Even if he builds a road quicker than you, the other 5 9 10 is then available for you. Sure you might have a bit to much wood... But you will force him to take an undesirable position or risk losing it all. And expending to a double 5 9 10 isnt bad at all...
Game 2 - have to start with all 5 resources or you're doomed IMO... Maybe 6 3 11 + bottom 9 5 10 into sheep port? Or 3 9 11 + 6 5 12 maybe - also feels so weak. Very tough one as nothing blocks opponent from getting superior position fast... :( gg Phantom
In the last game I was thinking 10 3 9 pointing left (threatening the plough) and 9 11 4 pointing left. If he takes the free road on 5 9 2 to defend I think it's a bit rubbish for him as he has little space and we get the 3 5 11 and a whole lot of space in the bottom left.
What about this for second game? Grab 10-5 3:1 port up top first and point left. 9-4-11 free road, pressuring the 8-10. Point your 9-4-11 left to expand to 6-3-11. He prob takes wheat-brick-sheep spot in the direction of your road but you have open board in the other direction. I think its slow but having that free road pressure just feels big here and if you get rolls you may be able to expand quickly.
It’s low production obviously but if your only advantage is positioning with the second pick on this board, seems worth a gamble. I’d be really curious to see how that setup would play out
You can’t expand to the 6-3-11 since the enemy is gonna take 6-11-5 which means he has the same road materials as you do and than you just left with a much lower production (10 -5 is just way to weak) I would prefer something like 10-3-9 to start point left and 4-3-6 You will have better road materials and will most likely be able to get to 8-10 first Maybe the enemy is gonna take 6-5-11 but I still think you should have a decent position that is winnable like 45% of the time
At least we know he doesn't have the mono... *mono's wheat*

i was thinking the same thing
For the wheat. They played wheatless for a decent portion of early game

For game 2, player 1 has a big advantage. Still, credit to your opponent for converting. I wouldn't be too upset about that game.
Yea that last game I think is just losing for second, frustrating spot for sure

Not monoing his 5 ore early was insane
In the first game I think you should have ported ore for wood in order to get on the 6 3 4, especially once you had 2 cities.
That win was HUGE! It was BIG! - If true, it is also BIG - and it was true. So it was Huge!

I like this the more I think about it because you also pressure 10-3-9 expansion

You can’t expand to the 6-3-11 since the enemy is gonna take 6-11-5 which means he has the same road materials as you do and than you just left with a much lower production (10 -5 is just way to weak)
I would prefer something like 10-3-9 to start point left and 4-3-6

In second game I think sheep port was the move, 9 4 11 right and 9 5 10 down

Wasnt wheat mono obvious that he used rb for wheat port and was setting u up for 6 roll
I think you need to take the 6 5 12
