Two of the worst smells were: 1. The soda and coffee mixture when emptying out the bins at the end of the day (when I worked at a skating rink) and 2. Recently I'd bought potatoes and one of them rotted but I had no idea for weeks and my kitchen had a horrid smell until I saw it and took the bag to my outside bin.
my neighbors who dont bathe or brush thier teeth and horde rotting food in their house.

I had a room mate who showered/bathed once a month, never did his laundry, and kept garbage like old pizza boxes in his room. Every time I passed his room to get to mine, I could smell him and his room. When he moved out, I had to remove his trash because he wouldn't do it. I opened the window to air it out for several days, and I steam cleaned the carpet.
For me - a decomposing body. It’s something I never want to smell again 🤢
My brother shot himself in the head. When you walked into the room you could literally taste the iron from the blood in the air. I've smelled far stinkier things, but that smell will haunt me the rest of my life.
My cat got locked inside for the night. He shit on the carpet behind a chair. My roomba goes cleaning every morning at 9 am. It found the shit and smeared it all over itself and the carpet. I was sitting on my couch when i noticed the smell becoming worse and worse. I checked it and i was shocked to find it all in the cat shit. I had to clean it all. I took some gloves, and a gas mask, and i took it outside. It was the first time i have thrown up because of a smell like that. I had to take off the mask or i would have thrown up in it.
That paired together with the vision of cat shit smeared in to all the brushes and wheels made me straight up vomit.
One time my dogs got sprayed by a skunk. It smelled like if you lived in a sewer and that had a house fire.
A port-a-potty. I was at work and could only use a port-a-potty. The fumes got me a minor sinus infection.
A couple decades back we had someone have a disaster in the home economics class down the hall at my high school. They burnt....something, whatever it was all it took was one whiff and I was hunched over the toilet, ready to throw up.
You've likely never wondered what a combination of spoiling milk/coffee, stale theatre popcorn, congealing nacho cheese dip and used untied condoms smell like. I know I never did.
Unfortunately, I worked at a movie theatre when 50 Shades of Grey was released, so I got to find out. Once you added the unbearable sweetness of the abandoned soft drinks it was the closest to human decomp I've ever smelled.
Backed up sewage on a hot summer day
My grandma bought a bag of potatoes, and hung it on the inside doorknob of the laundry room. Everyone forgot about them until one day I go in there, and the most horrific smell hit me, I push the door, and there's a decent sized brown/black puddle of putrid slime on the floor. We had a dog with a history of sensitive stomach, so I thought he had an accident, so I clean it up, then notice the disintegrated bag still hanging on the door. That is not a smell I will ever forget. So nasty!
It's definitely very putrid , I found a bag of rotten potatoes on my fridge one day and set them on the floor ... then my cat came by and had a sniff ... she literally threw up ! Lol

a couple of years ago my daughter left one of those string cheeses in her school bag for months I kept looking around the house to see if a mouse got in the house and died, a dead mouse actually smelled better than this and when i finally found it in her bookbag the cheese had liquified and i had to was her bag 3 times to get the smell out and nearly got sick doing so! She’s probably gonna kill me for this but damn! It was the worst! 😅🤢
1st Place: Decomposing corpse after about a week (deer). I walked past where a deer died every day for a week. I could tell when the digestive system opened up.
2nd Place: Raw sewage from an open line.
My dogs once found and partially ate a carcass that was run over with a hay mower. It was a baby deer. It was August

My gas after I eat White Castles.
I can’t even imagine how bad some of these must have been, and I thought the one I had to deal with was bad.
It wasn’t pleasant by any stretch, but some of these are just shockingly awful sounding.
Mine was the grease dumpster at the McDonald’s I worked at as a teen. Particularly during summer. Upwards of 100f temps, humidity and all.
Now having to open the lid to dump the grease traps from that shift sucked. But at least a nose plug helped a bit.
I’m not sure is this is the most horible smell I ever smelled, but it is definitely a case of horrible smell I remember the best. At the high school, before we were to have a lab course, one of the teachers forgot an open bottle of butyric acid in the lab. Butyric acid is by far the worst smelling chemical I ever smelled, and now the entire lab smelled after it and we had to do our lesson in that enviroment.
Apparently bloody stools are the worst 😷

I was working on cleaning up a house my mom was flipping in Richmond, VA when one of the things we had to deal with was an old kitty litter box left outside by the previous owner, full of cat feces and water from the rain. Until that point, the layer of rainwater on top must have been holding back the smell of the feces. Once we had to tip it out to empty it, we tossed it on the driveway outside and the contents spilled out unleashing the most rank smell I've had to experience to that point. Even 20 feet away in open air, I could smell the old putrid stench coming from that puddle of sludge. I think we hosed it down afterwards to wash it away
Gyms Locker Room. Yes this is common but it’s really stinks.
My next door neighbour bought a frozen Durian at the grocery store and forgot it in the car when she went into her house. She went into her basement at the back. Parked in the sun, in June. When I got off the bus at the end of our street, the breeze gently wafted toward me, and I thought “Wow, what’s that horrible smell?” Oh, it got worse with each step, and I could hear yelling. I hate even thinking about it.

I was a kid and had a dog, we hadnt spayed her yet (we were trying to get her an appt) when my sisters unneutered dog came over and she wasnt being watched while i was gone....and you can guess what happened.
Everyone was like 'oh she'll probably only have 3'
She had 8 puppies.
She rejected them around the time when they would be switching to solid foods, so I was able to care for them.
The SHIT. They smelled so bad.

I forgot about chicken in the oven. Left for a while… came back and oh my god the smell. Like I turned the oven off but never remembered the damn chicken. Ew. Followed by rotten potatoes and a few cans of wet cat food that sat in triple digit heat before finally arriving at my house. It was the sea food with extra gravy. 🤮
