  • Human Rights and Constitutional Lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) comments on Nigeria Government's removal of Jim Obazee from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) board over implementation of regulatory policy of churches. He also criticize churches for registering with the Corporate Affairs Commission as NGO's while they continued to use proceeds in offerings and tithes of members for Pastor's Private Jets and setting up of expensive schools.

Thank you Mr Falana. If my GO owns a private jet using my tithes & offerings & am still taking danfo , then it's stupidity to still be in that church!

All Nigeria churches are private run businesses. They should be classified as commercial ventures & pay income & corporation taxes.

Have you ever see a pastor that said to a richer, go and sell all your belongings and give it to poorer. Then in 7 days, God Will bless you in multiple ways. But it's easy for them to tell the poor to do so.

the man is saying the truth. the members are blindfolded and afraid to speak. my happiness is that non pastors are going heaven with all these private jets. they forget that Christ told a rich man to sell all his property, give it to the poor and follow him. i wonder how pastors are extremely rich, owns schools and hopitals that the poor member can't afford and u call that Christianity. No!!! this is not example that Christ set for us. the Bible said that when people received Christ, people that have two give one to those that have non. what kind of example our nigeria postors are showing? the churches are under their name so when they die, their children and wife become the next overseer. when they open new branches they decided who be the pastor there without allow God to choose. members should open their eyes before it become too late

Make una listen very very well. Make una no cross una boundaries. Una dey go where una neck go hook. My hand no dey. Leave ministers alone. Tithes are for them. What they do with it, is between them and their GOD who called them, who gave them assignments and who they will give account to. Most of them write books, or go into investment. A jet can be a gift or direct purchase by the pastor. What ever is the case, it does not concern anyone. Nobody forces anyone to give tithe. If they force you change church to where it us optional. Remember it is the word of GOD demanding just 1 over 10 and the tither gets 9 plus fatastic offer by GOD HIMSELF. It an exclusive area for the sacred.
We get too much problems in Nigeria which only GOD can solve and you people want to use this one to confuse and distract us. I am not talking about enemies of GOD wearing the uniform of pastors, committing atrocities here and there but genuine servants of GOD, leave them for GOD to deal with them. You did not call them so support them with prayers abeg. Put your efforts in national funds that on diversions without getting to the community development.

Falana sir, It's all about freedom of worship. Churches belongs to the community including you sir. Pastor did not force any member to pay tithe and offering, you give as you purposed in your heart for the work of God, not by force sir, and still most of these people praising you do not give tithe and offering some are not even Christians, pastors do not sanction any member for not giving. As you are a professional in your field of disciplines so are pastors professionals in their field of calling, if you don't want to serve God Almighty, you are free to choose the type of god to serve because there are billions of gods. No pastor has at any time put knife on anyone's neck to give tithe and offering, besides, you don't have right to condemn people believe system. Finally if you want to balance your statement to the public or if you want to address pastors , encourage some of the mega church pastors to invest in industries to create more jobs. without the church Morals will vanish. Churches provides solutions when there is crisis in the Nation. Without the church many will lost their way , The church provides counselling in families and society, they pray for the nation's economic revitalisation and God Almighty looks at the church to always pray for the nations for free. many churches provides homes and foods to the orphanages, of course they provide jobs in their capacity. Address the government or rather blame the government for not managing the public funds well. Have you taken time to condemn and address the burning of churches and massive killing of pastors and church members in the country?
