I think the reason why it did not read atmos for extraction movie is, you played trailer. I agree that quality of atmos output is different from atmos speakers when you play content from computer vs OTT, obviously for playing atmos you need highest possible transfer rate. But, we can definitely make out lot of difference between atmos movies and 5.1 movies while watching Netflix / Apple TV + content from Apple TV pass thru from atmos speakers. Atmos enabled movies feel like you are inside theatre whereas 5.1 feel just like output from normal speakers. I tried playing dolby atmos sample videos from Dolby atmos app in windows 10 PC, and we have to do lot of adjustments and enable atmos for home theatre mode, after which Dolby app has shown that atmos speaker is connected. We can feel 3D effect in sample videos, although not tried playing downloaded atmos movies this way, but I think it’s possible.. If you want to really observe the difference between OTT and actual atmos, download Dolby summit app, and play the sample video on atmos speakers...
Bro play the movies through netflix app installed in SAMSUNG or SONY or LG Tv's which have HDMI-EARC output because with out HDMI EARC or HDMI 2.1 port even the device supports ATMOS it will give ATMOS output as Dolby digital to AV RECEIVER. So play the Atmos movies in devices that have HDMI EARC or HDMI 2.1 Port and check in AV RECEIVER. Next you played the trailer of extraction movie so I think atmos is not present in trailers that's why RECEIVER is showing Dolby digital.

atmos in netflix is compressed. the metadata (for overhead and ear level) is same on both compressed and uncompressed. there's nothing like:" are we getting 100% atmos feel/experience or atleast 1%feel/experience." overhead channel effects is just based on movie mixing. when watching a movie, if you didn't hear anything or less information from overheads than other channels. then thats just how that movie is mixed. not all movies have this issues.

yeah. it depends on your preferences on what you watch. OTT movies in regional languages isn't necessary for atmos. but if you have dolby atmos capable AVR and an atmos setup then you can upmix those movies by using DSU. if you enjoy Hollywood movies then yes you need atmos and its totally worth it.
Yes , idi thelisina information eh bro. Streaming services/DTH providers add Dolby Atmos information to DD+ codec. If our AV receiver support Dd+ then it will decode that, if it has Dolby Atmos then it will read Dolby Atmos information which is there in DD+ Signal and decode that. However, Netflix, Apple tv decode Atmos based on internet bandwidth. When we start the movie it will take time to change to 4k UHD and Dolby Atmos. If internet bandwidth is not that much then it will just play 1080p HDR in DD+ THATS IT. TO ENJOY TRUE SURROUND AND ULTRAHD only a good UHD Bluray player and UHD disc movie will do justice.

@@imtiyazali8160 i didn't get your question correctly, however will try my best with my limited understanding, when you connect any streaming media to a AV receiver it will have ability and capability to upscale to 4k and some recently launched AVR's with 8K and all the latest Audio formats else pass-though, if you select pass-though it will send the data (signal) as-is what ever is provided by the streaming device.with a qualified HDMI and also there comes the HDR 10 and HDR10+ lets take this topic a side, and if you see Netflix will provide the 5.1 channel at a max of Digital Dolby plus+,
Dolby Atmos is not a codec! Dolby Atmos is an immersive audio format that can be delivered via multiple audio codecs including Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD (but NOT Dolby Digital). Blu-ray Discs deliver Dolby Atmos using Dolby TrueHD (with Dolby Digital Plus as an available alternative),
some of the smart tv's can be installed with most of the OTT app's and can play those but there is a catch OS (operating system Android, or in house tv OS) will only support the provided audio formats and only few smart TV's has the Dolby Atmos format embedded. hence the streaming devices will comes into picture and the true high speed HDMI cable is required with ARC or eARC (Audio Return Channel or enhanced ARC) which will send the Audio signal to the AVR, Since most of the tv's will have 2 speakers or with a max 4 speakers. minimum requirement for Atmos experience is 5.1.2 Atmos enabled (Left front, Right front, Center, left surround, right surround )(5.0 setup), adding one subwoofer (5.1 setup) and ceiling left and right speakers (voice of God) (5.1.2) setup.

Yes bro in Netflix only few contents support Dolby Atmos that will be in "Dolby Digital plus with Atmos" with 700-1000kbps which is not a Dolby Atmos. They will stream only steam added Atmos support to Dolby Digital Plus not the original Atmos which needs much data to play and hard for OTT to transfer to us for steaming.
Where as Amazon prime support Dolby digital Plus upto 640kbps but in prime and Netflix also some contents are of 2.0 Dolby digital Plus audio with 225kbps also
Where as SunNxt and hotstar support Dolby digital Plus 192kbps only
Where as apple movie support Dolby digital audio
Finally no OTT support lossless audio as they stream through internet which have much complications and to give customers good experience in mobile,tv, etc they try to keep data that is need to stream to be good and minimal

the metadata (for overhead and ear level) is same on both compressed and uncompressed.
there's nothing like:" are we getting 100% atmos feel/experience or atleast 1%feel/experience."
overhead channel effects is just based on movie mixing.
when watching a movie, if you didn't hear anything or less information from overheads than other channels. then thats just how that movie is mixed.
not all movies have this issues.

but if you have dolby atmos capable AVR and an atmos setup then you can upmix those movies by using DSU.

Streaming services/DTH providers add Dolby Atmos information to DD+ codec.
If our AV receiver support Dd+ then it will decode that, if it has Dolby Atmos then it will read Dolby Atmos information which is there in DD+ Signal and decode that.
However, Netflix, Apple tv decode Atmos based on internet bandwidth. When we start the movie it will take time to change to 4k UHD and Dolby Atmos. If internet bandwidth is not that much then it will just play 1080p HDR in DD+ THATS IT.
TO ENJOY TRUE SURROUND AND ULTRAHD only a good UHD Bluray player and UHD disc movie will do justice.
