We already see how the Chinese attack trade with Australia: by cancelling their order and buying from someone else. A press conference, some phone calls to cancel their import orders and make new ones, and that policy was set. Ain’t got anything to do with “freedom of navigation” and defending trade routes from the evil Chinaman. If it were, it’ll be Southeast Asia who would be crying foul. Except, they’re the ones who don’t complain, they’re the ones who continue to reap the benefits of trade with China, and they’re the ones who condemned AUKUS involvement. All despite their actual maritime border disputes with China.

Military hardware only gets you so far, training and command structure goes a long way too, that's why it would make sense to invest in hardware that lasts 30 to 50 years now to be prepared for tensions in the next 10 to 40 years.
And I would totally expect from modern militaries to plan or at least play through scenarios where partners turn against each other. It's not as if the USA is not pushing everybody to ditch China as it sees it could threaten their dominance, and although a scenario where AUS would have to confront the USA is even more unlikely, it does bear keeping in mind that D. Trump was willing to shake alliances in a major way with severe consequences for "the World Order" so in diplomacy too nothing lasts forever.

Next: Send troops overseas, when they return continually investigate them to see if there's any reason they can be prosecuted for not playing fair against an enemy that forced children to carry I.E.D.'s in an attempt to kill them, used roadside bombs to kill discrimately, and infiltrated Afgan troops to enable the killing of many Australians who there to train them. Take months to make the decision on when firing weapons is acceptable (while sitting behind a desk thousands of klm's from danger) when the troops only had milliseconds, then prosecute individuals as often as possible, but take years to do it, abandon anyone charged to the M.S.M. to cover the butts of the brass, then wonder why it's hard to fill recruitment targets.

Your comment completely misses the mark on basically every issue raised. Europe always had the US to look to, and Russia always had alternative markets. Sure, Australia has India as an alternative, but why sell to India if we get higher profits from trading with China? Why sabotague our relationship with China by riding the US-line foreign policy when we could be considerably more wealthy, sovereign and free making our own policy?
The inflamatory situation of the coup in 2014 is what sparked the decision by the Russian government to first sanction-proof their economy before they conducted any invasion, which is why Russia waited until 2022 to invade.
China doesn't seek war with Australia, and it would be quite obvious if they were planning to (which they're not, because they don't really gain anything out of it except for a one-way ticket to nuclear war)
It is also obvious that 90% of Chinese "encroachment" against Australia can easily be explained by the fact that we somehow always end up in less-than-desirable geopolitical situations in relation to China because of the foreign policy decisions made in obedience with the US ruling class.
Are your handlers mad that people are realising and are waking up to the completely one-sided relationship that Australia (and much of the west) has with the ruling elites in America? It's not bad enough that they indirectly get involved in our policymaking, but furthermore literally send the CIA to spy on our politicians as soon as they sense a crumb of dissent. And the fact that people like you defend it so vehemntly is sickening. Are you even Australian?
