There were very few guitarists that could draw the 'feels' out of a solo quite like Chris DeGarmo. Forever my personal favorite guitarist, his tone is unmatched in my book.
This band was WAY ahead of their time lyrically. They were singing about the corruption in the government and the “1%” way back in the 80’s. “What’s behind the words? Images they know will please us.” Listen to the Mindcrime album start to finish. It’s a masterpiece.
I grew up on Queensryche, the original lead singer, the one in this video, is Geoff Tate, pronounced Jeff. The band lost several members a dozen years ago, including Geoff Tate, and he is now touring at 65 years old with his new band, and still going strong. If you go see Queensryche now you will not see Geoff Tate, or the lead guitarist Chris DeGarmo, neither are with the band. The lead singer now does a great job, but he simply cannot compete with Geoff Tate, very few singers can.

Scott Reckenfield is also no longer in the band. The new lineup is terrific. I don’t consider them Queensryche in the classic sense but a standout band on their own merits.
Sure they don't. If you actually search take hold of the flame reactions on TH-cam you'll find there are numerous reactions to this song. She's actually the one late to the party on this song.
Queensrÿche bring so much to music 👌 The sad part is that much people don't know 😔 Underrated AF, but not for me 😉 tx for the react from Québec Canada 🇲🇶🇨🇦🖐️
Something amusing that they mention on the Building Empires VHS/DVD that this is from, they lost of lot of the footage on an airline and had to quickly put something together for it to release.
This was the first Queensryche song I'd ever heard, and it immediately hooked me. YES, I'm no stranger to QR chills! This is one of the very few bands that makes me FEEL something! Always intense, edgy, and beautiful. This band (original lineup) possessed every element that I was looking for in a band: Great songwriting, stellar musicianship, relevant and interesting lyrics, killer drums, guitars, and bass! AND the best VOCALS I've ever heard!! They had it ALL! The Queensryche that is still going today, sadlt, only has 2 of the original band members in it: Eddie Jackson on bass, and Michael Wilton on lead guitar. Still, there's plenty of great material from the original band to be plumbed. You might like to try: ALL of "Operation:Mindcrime", a concept album telling one continuous complicated story in flashback. Highly acclaimed ! "One More Time" "Walk in the Shadows" "Another Rainy Night" "The Thin Line" "The Killing Words" "I Dream in Infrared" As a start. I hope you do more QR! I enjoy hearing your impressions and observations!
I just found you, I adore this song and it was my favorite band in my teens (I'm gonna guess pretty lady you weren't born yet ;)) This is NOT a hit but I love the lyrics... when you achieve success and don't know what to do next....
This song is a masterpiece, great reaction. You should check out their song "Take Hold of the Flame" live in Tokyo if you want to see some of the best live vocals ever recorded.
At the minimum you need to listen to "I Don't Believe In Love" and "Eyes Of A Stranger" from their concept album "Operation Mindcrime" one of the best rock albums of all-time. Actually you should just listen to the whole album and follow it's sad tale of Nikki, Doctor X and Sister Mary. I guarantee you'll love it.
I’d react to actual album tracks instead of music videos. You’re missing about 1/4 of this song by watching the music video. (which chops the song up to give it a better run time for MTV) Both this and the “Eyes of a Stranger” video are incomplete versions of the songs.
The original and the best Queenryche. Geoff Tate and Chris DeGarmo. You will get requests for songs from the album "Operation: Mindcrime" - just do the entire "Operation: Live-Crime" concert - a rock opera, story telling with music at it's best! and the story will always be relelvant!
I didn’t know if you heard the song “Bad Magic” by Godsmack. They recently came a new music video th-cam.com/video/577m4Cozh3Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=B-w8VIPbqtfvTzmS

Epic song from an absolutely Epic album.... Outstanding production

And his backing vocals are incredible.
He is the reason that I started playing guitar. I saw Operation: Livecrime and is solidified it.

Absolutely one of the greatest 'unsung' bands ever! Talent beyond belief...

Yeah Isle of the stranger is one of the best ones for you to watch you can really hear the range of his voice Great singer thank you for your channel

I'm so very, very glad I grew up listening to real music.
#metoo
Geoff had a very very very early fitbit prototype, he wanted to make sure to get in his steps during filming
Great song.
Best I can next...the first song on this same album

Before she left Norway to move to LA she wrote the most song named "OSLO" which she sang with a full orchestra. DON'T MISS IT!!
What are you talking about?
Geoff's Tate voice is inimiTATEble.
