Really informative and I didn't know that male Red-winged Blackbirds could conceal those red feathers. I don't understand the hate/dislike for Blue Jays either. I think they've fascinating to watch and quite intelligent. Also, like you mentioned, they sound the alarm for others and are a great way to tip us off to something unusual like a nearby predator bird. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I agree with the Blue Jay assessment. Some just can't get past that they steal eggs and even hatchlings for food from time to time. They have to feed their young too.

I live in Springfield, MO, and I have been a subscriber since last summer. I appreciate your focus on Missouri birds. I just want to say how much I enjoy your channel. I feed birds, squirrels, possums, and feral cats on my patio. I have motion activated cameras at all of the feeding stations, water bowls, and bird baths, and find so much enjoyment from watching the wildlife. My 2 inside cats also love watching the wildlife through the patio doors.

We see many of the same birds here in Pittsburgh. Thanks for the video.

We lived in Pittsburgh for a little over a year. Loved the birding there.

The sapsucker opens holes in my pecan tree, but Harold’s the arrival of my hummingbirds. We have a love hate relationship

In the early spring, the sap can be an important food source for the early hummers.

Could you recommend ingredients for making suet? I know before pork fat is used, peanut butter, I noticed salt in Hot sauce I bought. Not using that, egg shells, dried mealworms. Can I add cayenne pepper to the mix? There are a lot of videos out there, some are simple, some are not. I thought it would be fun to try.

I haven't made my own suet in many years but my best advice is to go to a butcher shop and get true suet, not just fat trimmings. It is the internal kidney fat from a cow and is much better to work with. I recommend adding raisins, dried mealworms and peanuts, Egg shells is a good idea but I don't think Cayenne pepper will do anything.to help. Hot pepper products use oils like habanero. Good luck

I think it strange that some "scientist" called them the Northern Cardinal, when they live mostly in the South!!

You are right. Many of the "official" names do raise questions.
