Easy to make, takes only minutes, cheap AND it sounds great. If you want, you can tune your flutes with a online tuner (guitars), works great. A fun project for the whole family :)
Thank you thank you THANK YOU. I have a project due tomorrow where we have to make a DIY instrument and I haven't started and this is so quick and easy. THANK YOU.
At first I thought it was fake because I did not know how to blow it correctly so I watched a tutorial on how to play it. Thank you for posting it works great!
Nice video thanks. Straw standard lengths (best to produce octve notes): 1: 19.5 cm 2: 17 cm 3: 15.5 cm 4: 14.5 cm 5: 13 cm 6: 11.5 cm 7: 10 cm 8: 9.5 cm
Thank you so much! This worked incredibly well and my son is off to deliver his home instrument project today. We used Starbucks straws and they worked great. We made a C-major scale, and in the process, my son learned the difference between a whole tone and a semi-tone. (On the first trimming of the fourth note, we made an F# !!!)
Hey Armin, Just wanted to let you know that your efforts recording this video really saved the day for my child. There are so many "homemade" instruments that look like instruments but are really unplayable. This one works! We used an online tuner and set the pipe up to play Ode to Joy really easily by picking a designated colored straw that was different from the rest. Thanks!!!
omg thank you i broke my panpipe but now i know how i can fix it. plus the gaps between each pipe sounds like a smart idea and would make it easier to use
Thank you kind sir! I tried with the big milkshake straws and a bit more difficult, but your principle is sound. Much appreciation from me and my kiddo!
Thank you so much I had to make an instrument for science class and I found your video ! So simple and it works great ! It doesn’t sound like yours though . 🤣🤣
@@konodioda8173 did it work for you? i have a project to create an instrument that plays 2 octaves. are the straws long enough or did you have to extend the straws or...?
Hi did you use special straws? I can't get a sound out of one (I've blown through it to test that it's sealed). Are they wider or harder than normal straws?
how- do- you blow- it- and it makes a decent sound- i'm pretty sure my straws are sealed at the bottom already when i blow on it i can only hit the higher notes then when i try the lower notes it just doesn't make a proper sound :P
Is there a preferred brand for straws for the panflute? I couldn't get them to seal at the ends at all. I don't have a lighter, so I'm using matches and the pliers.
Could you please post a video where you make one using aluminum camo arrow shafts ? Possibly 2512's ? If it work do you think it could be used to call deer?
then you need to plug something in, like eraser from pencils or so. it needs to air tight at the end. of course you can super glue some plastic sheet underneath and cut it round
I know its a bit late... But can you like... Umm.. measure the length of your straws and tell us the exact length so that we can get a uniform note. Not everybody has trained ears, you see! It will be very helpful if we had a standard length chart for the project
Thank you thank you THANK YOU. I have a project due tomorrow where we have to make a DIY instrument and I haven't started and this is so quick and easy. THANK YOU.

Thank you very much💖💝🌈
Wow Awesome!
Hi did you use special straws? I can't get a sound out of one (I've blown through it to test that it's sealed). Are they wider or harder than normal straws?
normal straws from a coffee shop. Every straw should work... thin ones are a bit harder to blow, but you will manage :)
@@ArminHirmer I think it is the same problem for me as my plastic straw is very thin (the material)
how- do- you blow- it- and it makes a decent sound- i'm pretty sure my straws are sealed at the bottom already when i blow on it i can only hit the higher notes then when i try the lower notes it just doesn't make a proper sound :P
how to play it? mine is not playing well
absolutely awesome :D
Now I must do this
I saw those broken arrow pens you had... you should do a tutorial on making them
Aahhh!!! thanks alot. it's really very useful and easy as a project fr the student like me...
it helped me to earn gud grades...
thank u 😊

What are the lengths of the straws
Depends...
do you use the left overs
Yes
Danke sehr!!!
bitte gerne :D
Thank you :)
welcome :)
Nice
its like the diwdiw as its a instrument from philippines its our project to make a Cordillera instrument do im gonna do this
Awesome.
thank you
very confused as i cannot get a sound out of mine and it is sealed properly. any tips?
how can it sound like that when i tried it with starbuck straws it didnt work plz help me
it works with every straw, you only need to make sure that the bottom is really sales and closed. then blow like I do. it will work :)
I'm here because of my module in music, I tried to make this back then
Oh, currently doing the same thing nice
nice
Are the straws should be thick? Or is it also okay with thin straws?
I like it.
But can you make one using bottles?
they will take up more space, but simply fill them differently and it will work
Does it work in different kinds of straws? Its for my project
Can I ask,how to close the bottom of the straw???
Pinch with plyers and burn them slightly
hi can someone tell me how may cm the straws are? im not really good with measuring the sound. Thank you!
Thanks a lot it helped in y assignment
happy to hear that. thanks for watching !
every traveling archer needs an instrument...
hehe exactly
thanks bro
:) thanks for watching
hi, how do you blow it, i cant get the sound out
Lillian Xiang that s difficult man, you need practice
It took some practice, but I got it!
What kind of straws is that sir?
THANK YOU you saved me from failing band class lol
can you seal the bottoms in a way that keeps them round? I don't really want to flatten them
then you need to plug something in, like eraser from pencils or so. it needs to air tight at the end. of course you can super glue some plastic sheet underneath and cut it round
veery cool
thank you
Is it necessary to close one the end of the straw? When I am trying to do so, the sound is very feeble
the principle of a pan flute is to have one side closed. how can you create a sound while you let i
this that nigga who made the spirit flute everybody in spirit tracks talk about
