    Thank you. This was very informative. You probably could attach the other notes ( tones ) and just mute them by placing a temporary cap or plug in them until you need them for a performance.

    While Hot Glue works and is cheaper to use, I found that Super Glue Gel works even better and looks nicer. Also super Glue a US penny to the bottom instead of using foam works well. You may have to shorten the tube a little though.

  • @a1930ford

    Is there a set distance apart to make each note, as in a 1/4 shorter piece than the next piece? If not, do you have to use a tuner to cut each piece accurately for the pan flute? Thanks so much for the information on this. I plan on trying this out and to see if I can come close to making it in tune from the get go. Again, thanks for sharing this video.

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      experts may have the details of the diameter-to-length ratio. I was doing it by ear and using a tuner. I would push the cork inside the tube. Then blow air to check the note. I would push the cork for either end till I got the right note. Then I would measure the inside length of the tube. I don't note it. Just using a skewer to mark out the inside length. Then, simply add the width of the cork to this. This mark is where you cut the tube without affecting the bottom cork. Voila!...One not is ready....repeat the process for next note on your scale

  • @Edinaldo08

    The lengh of the internal air column (x) is 1/4 of the wave lengh (L) minus 1/3 of the diameter of the tube:
    x = L/4 - (1/3)*diameter
    v=L.f ==> L = v/f
    where:
    v= 340 m/s (velocity of the sound on air at about 25⁰C)
    f = the frequency you want (frequency of the notes, for example 440Hz for A-4)
    He probably didn't took off the 1/3 of the diameter because the foam would do exactly that.

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Please try to blow through a pen cap or a closed narrow tube and get the sound correct. This will help you troubleshoot the pan flute. Pan flute works similarly but with various pitches. There could be an air leak in the tube. Try dipping the individual tubes in a glass of water and blow through it. If it bubbles, there is an air leak and it must be corrected. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    I like your video! What did you use to tune each pipe? Did you put beeswax or parfin wax in them?

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't know such a method exists actually...(what I did was intuitive , here is what I did. )
      I would push the foam stopper in the bottom of the pipe up or down and tune it. Once I get it right, I would measure the difference in length, push the foam back to it place and then cut of the excess. Filing the tubes was helping me get the tuning right. PVC is forgiving so we can file it quickly
