  • In today's vlog we head into the city of Tokyo to do some exploring and adventuring! We start with a bunch of train rides and end up
    in an area with the historic Thunder Gate. It was really amazing to see how the city is filled with ancient buildings and relics but is also surrounded by the new buildings and modern things. We get to see some of the local food stalls and get a chance to see a sort of outdoor mall shopping area. Then we take some more trains and end up in Shibuya. We get to see the Hachiko dog statue and the busiest scramble crossing crosswalk! We check out a Japanese 7-11 store, which had some pretty awesome looking foods! we had a blast hanging out in the city and we can't wait for you guys to see part 2 where we go into the mall and show you all of the awesome stuff we found! Thank you for watching and joining us on this adventure. We hope you're enjoying these vids! We'll see you tomorrow with part 2!

    Was rewatching and omg Tim’s fortune came true!!! “The person you wait for will come late.” 😪 Jackson was definitely worth the wait.

      Rewatching myself! My gut felt Jen wished for a child! Especially after Tim said, "To come back?" She said, "I know what I'll wish for." I wonder what what she wished for (thinking emoji I cannot find)

      I am literally here because I was just thinking about this the other day. I was wondering if Tim or Jenn’s fortune that they got in Japan foretold Jackson’s arrival. Now I’m crying. That’s so freaking cool. Surely they think about this sometimes.

    Was in Japan for a month earlier this year, google maps is your best friend. Tells you exactly what train to get on and when to swap etc.

    • @TheBaldr
      @TheBaldr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I lived in Japan for quite a while. Even when I know exactly how to get to where I want to go, even in a place like Osaka, there are more than three different rail companies, just a quick search on Google Maps and there may be a shorter route. It quite helpful and tells you the exact platform to go to. IC cards are your best friend, unless you got some sort of discount tourist pass. I dropped my phone and it stopped working right before I was about to spend a couple days in Tokyo, I was so glad I was able to get a replacement in time, it would have been a pain without Google Maps.

    The kids scooping the goldfish are playing a carnival type game. The scoop is made of tissue paper so it usually tears, but if you're able to scoop a goldfish without it tearing, you get to take it home.

    You guys have no idea how happy I am that you finally got out to Japan. I've spent the past several years watching a YT channel called ONLY in JAPAN, and thanks to the great content, I fell completely in love with the country and the culture. I've always wanted to see it from your eyes, and am so, so happy to see the same places I've come to know, from your point of view!
    I will likely never make it out to Japan, but thank you for having a Tokyo-only video in addition to the park vlogs. Now, 3 of my favorite TH-camrs (Tim & Jenn, Kara and Nate, and OnlyInJapan) have all been to Tokyo, and I couldn't be happier! ❤❤

    Easy Japanese navigation tip: Buy a tourist data SIM card at any of the electronic shops. Get your Suica/ICOCA(regional IC card) and then use Google Maps. It tells you exactly what lines to take. Also you can do the cheap trick, which is to get the cheapest ticket and use the "FAIR ADJUSTMENT" machines at the exit you want to get off the train at.

    Oh my god, Mr. Bean!!! We were in Japan last summer (2019) and I ate a matcha soybean something from Mr. Bean and despite eating a LOT of delicious food, that's the one thing that stands out most in my memory as something I wish I could eat again! (I was also enormously hungry when I ate it,so that might be part of it). I felt the same way visiting the country -- such a wonderful place! If you go back, do make sure to get to Kyoto. It's even more incredible!

    coolest thing about Japan shinto religion . the shrine was for the Shinto god Raijun.. they believe in a pantheon just like India. if you go to rural japan. The shrines get even better! . what i have learned from japanese society. It worked very hard to what it once was at the end of world war 2.
