Nice demonstration of close defense in an FW-190. I flew this plane extensively in IL-2 1946 and it's great to see somebody use the rate of roll systematically to defeat the gun solution. It's not magic, it's not 'random'. It's using your timing and judgement to roll suddenly to put your lift line parallel to the attacker's wings and pull - A LITTLE - then do it again, and again until they overshoot. So many people seem to think defensive flying = stick stirring.

Very true. Luckily no guided ammunitions are involved in WW2 air combat, which is why a well-timed, patience and opportunity based approach is much more fruitful. Glad you can confirm this experience 👍

@@IJG7Official I forgot to add: this approach avoids the deadly reversal in front of the attacker's guns. It gets you OUT of the attacker's plane of motion as it defeats the shot. The attacker has to roll to get you back in his plane of motion, or break off. And if you're flying the Focke-Wulf, he rolls slower than you.

100 % you deserve this.ot of effort and knowledge. I will look in the whole series. Great content. I been flying a year now. Warbirds since two months. Its easier then the modern stuff they said....no its not...I chose the German planes because we need opforce to keep it interesting and live close to Germany. I know you learn by doing but I am sure these videos speed up the learning curve. So again thank you very much

Yeah. Absolutely. BFM is universal. The concepts and theories and techniques are always the same. All you need to figure out is how various airframes behave.
