Excellent video. A couple of things I found. Use a forstner bit and drill from the inside out. It not only makes a very clean hole, it catches the shavings inside and doesn't spray them everywhere.
As a bank angler I really have no use for this but I’m a sucker for a good DIY! And also as a bank angler, I do have friends with boats 😎 So I still have an excuse to make up a couple of these as gifts. Fun video! 👊🏻
Don’t you love the critical jerks who can’t watch and just go away. As a journeyman tool and die maker what you did was very good and educational. I liked the stix and have never seen them before. Thanks, I will be making some for my 14’ fishing machine.
Have to agree with one of the posts. First time I have watched one of the videos. Found it very interesting and subscribed. Going to make a set myself.
Excellent video, Tony!! Tomorrow morn will find me on my way to the local Ace Hardware to acquire the necessary components for the project, one that will not only protect the boat but clear my deck of coiled dock line that, for some strange reason, will always find and snag whatever treble hooks in its vicinity.
Awesome video. This is definitely something that would have saves me a few scratches on my boat . I like the multiple ways you can strap it . This will come in handy at one lake in particular where there is a lot of standing timber where I tie off while crappie fishing or when bluegill are on a bed . These timber beat my boat to death when I tie off the traditional way . Thanks again for the video .
Tony, I like the video, it was simple to do and with the money you saved you can now buy more baits to fish with, also the company that works on your truck did a Fantastic job
Thank you Ed! I had a lot of fun making them.... and ordering some more tackle with the saved cash! Lol! I'm not kidkidding. 🤣🤣 And yes, my baby is back and better than ever! 👊👊
Nice video, 2 things. 1st. turn your channel locks the other direction, will pull the top jaw down onto the the object. 2ed. a thin schmeer of liquid soap rubbed inside the caps will lubricate them so they'll slide right on. easy-peezy.
Great idea! Mind if I offer a couple tips? One, if you wanna use those pliers flip them, those have a directional grip. Also, try using a short piece of 1/2 in copper tube as a hole punch for the rubber.... enjoyed it boss
Hey this would be great for my dads boat. I think I am going to try to build this based off of your video for my dad for Father’s Day. Hope it goes well🤞 this invention is so neet
I’d love to see an update video showing these being used on different docks and how actually work. Will they work for a situation with surface cleats and the dock is above the gunwale of the boat?
That was an awesome DIY video. I am having a hard time loading my boat by myself because of waves and boat traffic. I need someone to hold the boat as I pull the trailer out of the water. I think this would solve my problem. Thanks for the tip.
I hope it helps bud. I often launch by myself and this will be great for holding the boat securely to the dock without letting it beat against the side while I'm parking the truck and trailer. Hopefully it helps you too! 👍
This is the first time I’ve seen one of your videos and it was enough to make me subscribe and hit the bell. And it’s hard for a buckeye to do that for a channel from that team up north. Great video. You said you made a 14” and 16”. May be a dumb question but does a shorter or longer stick work better for you?
Hi Dave. Thanks for the great comment. I very much appreciate your kind words. I made one longer than the other on the theory that the bow is further from the doc when you factor the shape of the boat itself. They work well. I also made a pair where both are 16". They also work well. I can't say there is much difference.
How have these been working thus far? Anything you would do differently? Also, why did you make two different sizes instead of making them all the same size? Thanks for posting!!
Sorry about the whole sticker thing with my mom. I really want it though it’s so cool. Thanks for being so cool and understanding. Man I really want one of those stickers.
That is great feedback. I'm thinking of making another set with some improvements, and this sounds like the very first upgrade I will make. Thanks for the very good suggestion!
I like them but what keeps the boat from moving either forward or backward allowing the sticks to parallel the dock. Therefore basically letting the boat back up against the dock?
That is a great question. So far my experience is if the dock sticks are attached at a diagonal to the dock, it seems to keep the boat away. If you attached them perpendicular to the dock, then the boat can shift forward or backward and hit the dock. So.... I'm going to do a video to test the dock sticks, and find out once and for all if they will keep the boat away from the dock, even when there is wind or wave motion pushing on the boat. Keep an eye out for that video soon! Thanks for watching!
Not trying to be critical, why would someone use dock sticks instead of fenders? Is it a freshwater thing? I'm from Florida and I think almost every boater carries fenders to protect the boat from the dock. Is it a storage issue on bass boats?
I think it's because bass boats have so little freeboard, so bumpers are harder to use. Plus many bass boats are loaded up with fishing gear, so yes to some degree it's a space thing too.
I don't know the official weight but I caught a pig in Ann Arbor when I was in college. He had to be over 6lbs. But I didn't have a scale so no official weight. 😕
Feed and speed is everything dude. Next time lay the cap on a piece of wood so it does not tear through the rubber. Also use wd 40 next time on the inside of the cap. You make it look way to hard...your kind of are doing a hack job...lol
Nice idea. Video way to long. Could have made it under 3 minutes. I scrolled thru 99% of it to the end to see how they were attached to the boat & dock. Just looking them and I could see how you made them.
I would concur for the average DIYer. However, there are lots of people who aren't very gifted in these areas and the slow pace and details for these people is valuable. I think the video quality was excellent and the details were helpful. Of course there are people like myself that you could literally hold them in the air and say that you made them yourself and that would be enough. We always have the option of skipping to the end.
Need more DIY videos!!!
Excellent video. A couple of things I found. Use a forstner bit and drill from the inside out. It not only makes a very clean hole, it catches the shavings inside and doesn't spray them everywhere.
Wow. Super detailed. Watch at double speed. Thanks for the info
I've got that same Ontario Knives Rat Knife. Great all purpose knife. Nice tutorial.
As a bank angler I really have no use for this but I’m a sucker for a good DIY! And also as a bank angler, I do have friends with boats 😎 So I still have an excuse to make up a couple of these as gifts. Fun video! 👊🏻
NRO GELCOAT SAVERS.. love all the videos.. tips from Tony are always welcome
Those will be a good project for the Tin Boat I'm restoring. 1974 Alumacraft Yukon II, 17 ft console steer, Suzuki DT40. Tiny Boat Nation build 🍺🎣
Very interesting!! Never seen this before but will have to give it a try!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!

Nice video.
Really good idea.
Tony, hope you and the Family are doing good and the Grandbabies are doing good they are so beautiful
Thank you so much Ed! How has your new job been?

Made a set today and can't wait to try them

Thank you Tony I have been looking at these online the past few weeks and quite spendy. I’ll be making some for myself.
Excellent video

Yea the NRO stickers jumped the value way up!! LOL That cost savings is great!! If I had a boat instead of a kayak I would make these myself!!! Juddie

Loved the DIY video. Love the variety of videos. Plus the quality of these videos are great every time

Very nice build. I used to use something similar years ago I made.
Hey that is a great DIY!!!! Juddie
Looks cool.... no boat here, unfortunately. Maybe someday a kayak.

Nice job bud thanks

Cool stuff!
awesome video , thank you
Awesome how to video!!
Do you put the D ring in the pipe and if so what do you use for the D ring?
That was an awesome DIY video.

@@NoRedemptionOutdoors got it thanks. I was thinking there were sets of longer and sets of shorter. But you had one of each. I will try it.
a dash of rubbing alcohol will help easy the rubber end caps onto the PVC.
Thanks for watching and for the very good suggestion!
How have these been working thus far? Anything you would do differently? Also, why did you make two different sizes instead of making them all the same size? Thanks for posting!!
You will get a better bite with the Channel locks if you reverse the grip. The inside of the lower grip should be against the rotation of the drill
Sorry about the whole sticker thing with my mom. I really want it though it’s so cool. Thanks for being so cool and understanding. Man I really want one of those stickers.
No worries buddy. Maybe sometime in the future.
Thats a bargain, nice how to!
Boat will still rub on the dock when windy & waivy.just use boat bumpers & the boat will never rub on the dock.
Pvc water pipe. Has no uv protection. It breaks in sunlight.
Pvc conduit does have uv protection and is gray and looks great.
That is great feedback. I'm thinking of making another set with some improvements, and this sounds like the very first upgrade I will make. Thanks for the very good suggestion!
But if there painted doesn't that protect from UV getting to PVC?

watch the doskstyx video on how to use
Why the two different lengths.
Could I get the list of items that you used. This will help me at the dock, tremendously. Thank you.
He says it in the beginning of the video.

By the way what it your largemouth bass PB I was wondering

"THIS" is the samething as 25 other DIY "THIS'S"
Opportunity cost.....is it even real?
Do you know what docking is 😂 you might want to change the name.
Your going to shoot your eye out

Probable s good video/ but the dock stix is a stupid idea.
To each his own bud. But thank you for watching!
I have a set of dock sticks and they work perfectly.! A great invention for sure!!!
They work great, sorry you dont have a boat
