- I'm so here for all this action! I'm slowly but surely making my way through my movie list of shame. This is just my 2nd upload so please leave suggestions and feedback in the comments. Also I know I referred to VFX and SFX as "graphics" a few times... I was tired lol my bad, but I really enjoyed watching the 1998 Blade Movie. It's action packed and Wesley Snipes is fun to watch lol I can definitely see why it's a classic!

What the new generation always got to criticize good old movies they always got something fucked up to say fight the special effects it doesn't matter how old the special effects the new generation know they like it you can see it on their face but for them being the new generation they got to say something lame and stupid I seen vampire movies that came out in the 2000s and it wasn't shit
I totally get where you're coming from but I am able to laugh at the special and visual effects and still appreciate the movie itself. I am 33 years old and as a kid I loved the Power Rangers, you couldn't tell me that show wasn't THE BEST but does that mean I can't acknowledge that technology has since developed in a way that allows for better special effects? No. Does every current day show and movie make good use of this technology? No....Hence the still laughable effects in the 2000s vampire movies. Nevertheless, we can all see the advancement in technologies used for VFX and SPX and THAT'S OKAY. You gotta learn to laugh at yourself (or in this case the things you love) As a kid I loved movies like Save the Last Dance and You Got Served but as an adult I can acknowledge that dance styles have changed, the moves I once thought were the coolest thing ever look a little silly now, but I don't love those movies any less.
👀 ps... do you work in VFX? or SPX?
Wesley Snipes changed the game with BLADE💯🔥 That’s why it’s hard to envision anybody else playing the role in the MCU. The only person I can think of that matches Wesley Snipes’s acting & fighting skill is MICHAEL JAI WHITE
Disney will ruin this character just like all the others.
or Idris Elba
It doesn't matter cause that will be another Woke effeminate Movie anyway.
@@juliusperseus8612 Oh yeah🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Marvel movies went from having heart, culture & a lil bit of food for thought(slightly politically correct)…….. To being annoyingly & overly politically correct😑 Sucks the fun out the movies & even limits creativity. SHE-HULK was a shit turd of a show
@@jmaree_official Sadly.
I Never though They would Disrespect Stan Lee Like that.
And the worst part, is they're doing it on Purpose.
Actually, Karen saved the world from the blood God by discovering that the anticoagulant would be a useful weapon. I think there may have been a little confusion between the serum (which is red) and the anticoagulant (which is blue). Frost also assumed that the blue stuff was serum, which is why Blade suggested he try some.
Ohhhhh whomp whomp yeah I definitely missed that. Opps.
@@WrittenandCreatedBlade first appeared in Tomb Of Dracula #10, 1973 written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by Gene Colan. His real name is Eric Brooks. In his original appearance he was just immune to vampirism because his mother had been bit by a vampire during her pregnancy. It wasn't until the 1990s that Michael Morbius a genetically designed vampire bit him that he became half-vampire. Morbius is a Spider-Man villain from the 1970s. Blade looked different in the 1970s than he does now. He had a green jacket, green googles, brown pants, a bandiler with wood and steel knives on it, & an afro. He didn't get the look he has now until the 1990s. Blade is British in the comics. They made him American in the movies. Blade is considered an anti-hero in Marvel comics. Anti-heroes are more violent than regular heroes in comics. Here's some anti-heroes in comics
Deadpool (Marvel)
The Punisher(Marvel)
Wolverine (Marvel)
Ghost Rider(Marvel)
Venom(Marvel)
Lobo(DC)
John Constantine (DC)
Vigilante (DC)
Peacemaker (DC)
The Spectre(DC)
Spawn(Image)
Whew I realize in retrospect I did Karen dirty 😅 a lot of that went right over my head. Whomp whomp my bad. I’ll do better on the next one.
Blade is in my top 5 superheroes. They couldn't have found anyone more perfect for this role than Wesley Snipes. Some MFer's are always trying to ice skate uphill. 😊
Fun Fact: Wesley Snipes was a master at several martial arts disciplines. That's one of the reasons he was chosen for the role of Blade. His movements were so fast that it looked like a blur on camera so they had to ask Snipes to slow down and not move so fast.
Snipes was perfect for this role and this movie saved the Marvel Universe. The only other person that could have played Blade is Michael Jai White.
_Wesley Snipes _*_was_*_ a master at several martial arts disciplines._
"Was"?
The man is still with us. 😄
@@Deined I meant he already was at the time. Just not worded carefully enough.
Blade is such an awesome choice. Wesley did the character great justice. Him and Christopher Reeve never will be matched
This is a good reaction. 😄But don't do Karen like that, she was exhausted from massive blood loss and she still managed to kill two vampires. Much respect for Blade being your first movie reaction on this channel. You definitely got a new subscriber.
Great reaction!
Blade is obviously a Marvel character, but a lot of the film feels like it was borrowed from Vampire: the Masquerade. VTM was a tabletop RPG that was hugely popular in the 90s (bigger than D&D for a few years) and spawned a lot of spinoffs and subcultures.
Things in Blade like the vampire elder council, different families of vampires, humans who are tattooed to show allegiance to vampire clans, police and media being part of the vampire conspiracy, etc. were all popularised by VTM.
One of the really smart ideas the game had that is hinted at here was to do away with good vs evil morality and instead focus on human morality vs the needs of the vampire. As a character takes actions that violate human morality they must come to terms with that or lose their humanity, eventually becoming little more than a beast.
Blade's mother shows this sort of morality: she has enough of her personality left to know that she should care for him, but not enough left to actually feel that emotion. The need to feed has destroyed whatever morality she previously had.
🔥 _Please react to the Trilogy_ 🔥
★ -- *Blade I* (1998)
★ -- *Blade II* (2002)
★ -- *Blade III* : Trinity (2004)
Yeah this was a wildly popular popcorn flick in the 90s. I loved the vibe, not too serious, not too humorous, and killer soundtrack
Blade was such a bad ass movie for its time. And the good thing is it still holds up pretty damn well.
Thanks
"you picked the wrong employer".. funny as ever lol. and there's been so many different takes on vampires that i don't be surprised when i see something new. good reaction
lol and good point! Thank you!
This film was a great surprise, when it came out, and showed Marvel that a well-written and well-acted superhero/horror film could find a popular audience.
Robert Downey, Jr.'s Ironman made the MCU, but Blade made Ironman possible.
The second Blade film is better than the first, but the third was a real let-down. You can skip that one.
I love marvel movies I don’t know why it took me so long to watch this one but I’m glad to finally do. 📝 I’ll definitely be watching blade 2 soon! Thank you!
This is the movie that launched the entire movement of film companies buying up movie rights to comic book titles and characters. People try to say the first X-Men was responsible, but this proceeded it by 2 years, and had this not been a success, it'd be a very different world right now.
7:34 The pure blood vampires were born vampires, those you see around this table are probably thousands of years old, while someone like Frost was born human and became vampire after being bitten . that's the difference .
How is that possible when at least one parent is actually dead? The premise of natural vampire reproduction makes no sense to me. Blade's mother was bitten while already pregnant. Him being born a vampire actually does makes sense. Or am I missing something?
the movie that saved the MCU from going bankrupt
"What you mean you people!" That was funny😂
😅😭 The writers knew what they were doing with that one!
@@WrittenandCreated And with the Uncle Tom remark.
That was so funny! 🤣
I always laugh seeing Wesley Snipes in the Blade series and seeing him in Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything. Julie Newmar.
The PLant is a hybrid plant. Cutting the roots, symbolises him severing his roots
I'm really glad you treated yourself to this movie. It doesn't take itself too seriously, the action is great, and aesthetically it was the blue print for y2k movies.
1. Both trench coats between Nick Fury from the MCU and Blade from that movie are fucking awesome. My dad likes Nick Fury trench coat because he told me.
2. There's a alternate ending of Blade. You should see it on TH-cam.
*THE SECOND ONE IS BETTER!!!!!*
The third one... is a movie...
The TV series is actually kinda cool but it's only one season and it ends on an unresolved cliffhanger.
When everyone was hyped over Black Panther being the "first black superhero" I thought, how can you disrespect Wesley Snipes like that?
36:53 in response to your question, I feel like when meet blade he’s already been through his hero’s journey. Even though blade is the protagonist of course, the doctor he’s saving is the character going through the hero’s journey with blade being the mentor she met along said journey🙏🏾 also I really really enjoyed this reaction
The female vampire who led the guy to the blood rave at the beginning, is Traci Lords. She nearly destroyed the adult movie industry in the early 80's, by appearing in a load of movies, before she turned 18.
O M G That’s crazy
Girl, Karen was still human and Blade damn near drained her - who you thank she is - Celine from UnderWorld... Hint - Celine is the female version of Blade but different franchise and she is the leader of the DeathDealers... So, she kick lichen (werewolf) booty...
Yeahhh in retrospect I did Karen Dirty 😅 a lot of that went right over my head. And all that background info makes me want to do a deep dive. I feel like I might just get sucked in. Have you watched the new Blade series? I heard it wasn’t any good 😕.
You mean Lycan. Lichen is a composite organism that arises from the symbiotic association between a fungus and a photosynthetic partner, usually algae or cyanobacteria.
I think the young girl fighting Blade was a karate champion or something and now works in the stunt industry. Wesley Snipes initially discovered her as he had a huge passion for martial arts at the time.
That Scary Movie opening just killed me. Thank you for the laughs.😂
lol whatttt you’ve never seen Scary Movie, Mean Girls, and Madea all together in one clip? 😅😂 thanks for watching!
@@WrittenandCreated Only the Scary Movie clip, but quite a while ago and never at the beginning.😅
@@georger.3489 lol wassssuppp
As a comicbook nerd I saw this in theaters 4 times when it came out. THIS IS THE FILM THAT STARTED COMICBOOK FILMS!!! It was an absolute smash!! Woke Marvel tried to make out Black Panther was the first black comic hero. Yea whatever Feige, Wesley Snipes kicked it ALL OFF with this film. Wesley is still unsurpassed!!!
That wasn't the point marvel was making, Black Panther was the 1st black comic book movie HERO not antihero movie, and it had a all black leading cast!
it was the 1st of its kind to have a budget like that..
The last all black cast with a big budget movie in Hollywood was the first "Coming to America"
So there was no woke crap about it what they was saying was facts! Black Panther was the 1st Pure black super Hero brought to big screen with a all black leading cast since Coming to America
@@jay83 Blade isnt an anti hero
@@jay83 its not 'all black cast' either.. Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman arent black
Marvel has always been woke and so was this movie. In fact, the nature of superheros is to be woke: peace, love, justice, mercy, tolerance. Further to Marvel's wokeness, Blade is an unapologetically aggressive and rude black man beating up mostly white vampires and familiars in the USA. At the times of the comics and even the movie that narrative was decidedly very "woke". There were also a lot of black actors in prominent roles in this movie.
@@archangel0891LEADING cast.
really. its amazing how many never saw the best comics based anti hero movie ever made in the 90's
Ive been a fan of these movies (and character) since 98 (saw it in theaters at 12) I just rleaised that thats a running line "sooner or later the thirst always wins" I love it
📝 hmm I’ll have to listen out for that when I watch Blade 2!
This is how vampires would be in modern era ... Twilight and whatnot are NOT REAL VAMPIRES.
Yep, this movie set the tone for cool action movies. The soundtrack was also killer. I looped that club music endlessly at one point.
Before there was black panther there was BLADE best marvel movie. He's in my top 5 raking heroes in the marvel universe. Captain America, Wolverine, BLADE, Spider-man, Ghost Rider.
Technically BP came first in terms of comics but touche.
@@TheIcemanthomas yeah I know but I'm talking about showing up in movies
I'm an 80s babies and this was such an awesome looking film when it came out. The cgi was topnotch. Nowadays, not so much 😅.
I hope you end up doing the reaction thing more/more often. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to and watching you experience this movie and look forward to your voice and perspective becoming a regular part of my TH-cam rotation.
Man i was 8 or 9 when I saw that blade blood drinking sense and man Ill tell you lol.. . Needless to say, this is one of my favorite movies lol .
29:36- That's exactly what I was thinking between the "sistah" and the "you people" 29:49- A better question is, if the whole world is vamps, what they gone eat? 32:05- Step daddy season.
1)Lol I missed the “Sistah” I had to go back
2)True
3)Lmao step daddy season is hilarious 😭😂
This movie is awesome
Loved this film to death back in the day. I even liked the sequels.
I LOVE that this movies Meta is that the Illuminati are vampires.
Almost at the end of the Blade film when i watched it with my family as a kid inside the movie theater from a good fight scene Blade dealing with 2 other vampires making their heads pop with the blue stuff and someone in the middle row said "FINISH THEM!!!!! (MK Death Theme) Fatality Blade Wins Flawless Victory!" 🤣😂 HAHA
😂😂 perfect…. Core memories ✨
@@WrittenandCreated Exactly 😆👍🏼 LMFAO!!!!!
Without Blade, there would be no MCU.
You're correct. The were down a vampire AND Balde wasn't in the chamber when the lightning hit it, so Frost wasn't at FULL power at the end
Still the coolest gentleman in Marvel..
The 3 best vampire movies, 3 best vampire villains, frost 1, nomack 2, n the best dracula ever in 3.
Love it. This world had so much potential, they just needed to be a little more careful with the story and not lean into the cheese quite so hard in the sequels. ✌️
Hands down the best comic book movie
Awesome reaction, I dig your style. Here are some recommendations:
1) The Last Dragon
2) The Crow
3) Weird Science
Blade is awesome.
The movie is great, holds up really well. Amazing action, choreography. The effects for 1998 are really well done and have a style to them. Snipes owns the role, like Brandon Lee as The Crow or Heath Ledger as The Joker.
8:30 That actress N’bushe Wright was & still is SO FINE😍🥰🤎
Agreed! 🤎
Traci Lords brought an hors d'oeuvre to the party.
Blade was the first marvel hero, To perfect the superhero landing.
Wouldn't it be super awesome if Insonmiac or any of the Game Studios could build a beautiful action pack open world BLADE Game.???? OMG
25:34 That’s Brenda Song (Wendy Wu) from DISNEY CHANNEL
My favorite part .. “ugghew I don’t want to” … “oh that won’t that bad” 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 I played that back so many times lol. I just subscribed to your channel going to start watching you ❤

33:27- Dang, don't make him sound like Pookie. 33:39- Something weird. 36:04- Told ya. 39:30- I know. With the "Mating Ritual" drums in the background. 39:57- I think they both are.
Jr the first thing you need is to make a list 😊❤❤
This girl is doing the movie reaction she kind of reminded me of that girl that played in the movie called scary movies the black female when she was talking at the theater through the whole movie and everybody was getting pissed off at her that's who she reminds me of
Lmao dangggg that’s messed up. Good thing I was watching by myself 😂
I’m glad more people are reacting to blade. Cause I and II are worth the watch. I mean Wesley’s blade basically saved marvel from bankruptcy and just not trying to make any more marvel movies. First him, then Tobey maguire’s Spider-Man, then robert Downey. Even though I got a lot of faith in mahershala ali , nobody can top Wesley. The only other person I’d feel really comfortable with takin over , would be Michael jai white. Him and Wesley are the only two black men I know of that actually got trained hands. And they share similarities in their fight choreographies.
I wonder if Brenda song remembers getting yeeted across the street
😮 I had no idea that was her! That’s cool
Entertaining and enjoyable...
nicely done.

Great movie review. You have to review Blade 2. Just ignore Blade 3.
Aw dang everyone one keeps saying that! I’ll definitely review Blade 2! 📝
The original Marvel movie with a black lead that saved Marvel from bankruptcy. Disney lies!
Blade is a total badasssss xDD
Gimme my Blade in Russia, damnit!
Wait so the teaser at the end is for nothing?
Blade II is even better but this movie saved Marvel.
Well don't want to be in that club with his bunch of blood 👈. Also Blade is badass 👏❤️💯
Damn, who is this Baddie?😍
Before Black Panther there was Blade.☯️
I find it amusing when Zoomers and young Millenials trash older films for their special effects, as if current day special effects DON'T look like shit. (Now, usually the whole movie is CGI special effects)
You’re definitely right, movies now days go way overboard with the CGI but I think we just get a kick out of looking back at movies and shows with VFX and CGI that we were super impressed with when they first came out, now knowing how far technology has come. I’ve been re-watching some of my favorite childhood movies, and realizing how corny some of the dialogue or dance choreography really was, but I still love those movies!
6:14- You know what color him and the bystander are. Dhampir or not, the police is still the police. 20:53- Okay T.I. 25:25- That is one durable kid. He threw her like a discus.

People gotta understand....most of these special effects looked a little iffy even in 1998. We weren't all sitting there like "OMG this look so real!" Nobody was. This was a LOW BUDGET movie. A 25 years ago low budget movie. But the movie is so good and cool that iffy CGI mattered not. And still doesn't. The effects in Blade II look considerably better. And it might even be a better movie than this one..
