Try download a normal and official system update on a usb and try update it with the usb. If not work go in safe mode. Hold power button on ps3 until u hear 3 beeps and the ps3 should turn itself off. Then hold it until u hear 3 beeps again and then u will be in safe mode. Then update with usb

Just download iso files of game you want....and copy it to hdd and it'll work or you can use FTP to transfer games on ps3 using PC (google it, it's easy)
-go to internet settings and check internet -after that go to time settings and make it automatically set the time again - after that you can restart from the browser step and it worked for me

The initialization always fails on first try... Press triangle and refresh and then it'll work around the 40% mark

More specifically put the usb in left port, connect controller via usb cable on the right port while the system is off, then you go to safe mode.

ps3 is not faster with a SSD it cannot take advantage of the 6gbps sata 3 interface so you might as well go with a large hdd thats under 1.5 TB
