    A lot depends on what you are shooting, of course. Like you were saying, you like working with a smaller camera and the C200 steps away from that but, Canon is still your comfort zone. I have used Canon for twenty years and am switching. I spent a lot of time analyzing, much like you are doing but you really get into splitting hairs so I stepped back from that, these are tools, just tools, what's the big picture, what's the companies' philosophy? Once I stepped back from hair splitting and looked at the companies, it was different story. Canon has been very frustrating over the years with how they swing that cripple hammer. I had a 70D that had dual pixel AF and touch screen...but I couldn't get that in my C100, then C300, not even the C300 MKII. My old XF105 had face tracking but not my early cinema cameras? To get a full frame sensor and avoid that 1.6 crop I have to go to an R5 oven? or the C500 MKII at 16 grand? I like Sony's philosophy, they are making their system easy to enter and easy to move around in. A full frame A7s III/ FX3 for under 4k....you can drop that to a B cam and add the FX6 for four grand less than a C300 MKIII, still ful frame. A 6K FX9 for less than a Super 35 C300 MKIII...you just have to stop and say "wait just a minute". FX3 through Venice have full frame, cinetone. I just had to stop with Canon's "next version will fix that" and look at what both companies approach to their customer base is, as that will tell you where they, and you, will be tomorrow. I'm just as comfortable as you with Canon (after more than twenty years, more) but geez, there's a whole string of full frame cinema cameras at every price point and a company that puts it all out there to get, and keep its base. I think Canon just grew a little fat and lazy. Case in point Canon R5. Overheat problem? No sweat, we have that fixed in the R5C...all you have to do is shelve the R5 you just bought (that you can't sell) and buy our "next great". How crippled do you think they'll make that to "protect" their other lines? Sony doesn't, they put it all out there, top to bottom.

      The only thing that bums me out about Sony is the upgrade path/flexibility. Whatever you think about Canon, at least when you spend more up their line you get more. With the FX6 you get a7siii image quality with a slew of usability upgrades and tools. But your actual image quality isn’t much better. With the C70, not only are you getting all of the video tools the R5 didn’t give us, but you’re getting an arguably better image with that sensor as well. It’s kind of weird, by giving us amazing choices under $4k, Sony kinda made the over $4k segment less exciting.

    I kind of started out sony crop camp, and I think I'll be happy sticking in that ecosystem, namely for size and lens prices. I think some big factors on your canon decision are lens investments and color matching to your existing cameras. Sony's apparently have a hard enough time matching to their own different camera lines, let alone other camera brands.

    • @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
      @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Makes sense! I still have my Sony lenses though!! haha (thats what I used for this test) For me its mostly the easy color grading, and I like the screens + handgrip better on canon. Not that important I know but it makes the experience a little better for me ha! FX3 is great though !!

    Damnnn, that's crazy. I legitimately thought B was the Canon because it had such a pleasant, natural + organic cinematic look to it. Sony has really stepped up their game.
    Definitely my next camera purchase as I recently sold the BMPCC 4K. I was getting sick and tired of the terrible shape/size/rigging it up for everything.
