Hi Dave , so good to see Nong Khai .
We (my wife and I) walked those streets in Nong Khai so many times and never miss eating in the Vietnamese restaurant .
    Thanks for sharing .

Been in Nongkhai and the market three times.
And yes, I also bought shorts. 😄

Yes, you have to buy shorts there, especially if you're a big bloke like me as opportunities are limited up this way 🤣🤣

@@ThatForeignBloke I needed shorts with many pockets. A tourist need places to have many things, wallet, phone, passport...✌🏻 More easy than a hand bag.😉

@@skummisrocker very true and not just tourists. I like trousers/shorts with lower pockets as well as waist level ones as there is always phone, wallet, and keys as well as cigs and lighter back in the day, although not for the last 10 years or more now thankfully. I have a wallet that has place for my passport so that makes it easier to carry around too 👍

That brings back lots of memories Nong Khai. We used to stay in the Mutt Mee quite a lot enjoy a few drinks in the bars along the river. My father inlay is actually a monk up that way so when finished my project down here must pay him a visit.

Yes Nong Khai is a nice town, although having finally visited, I prefer Chiang Khan I think 👍

@@ThatForeignBloke We are probably 10 kilometres from Chang san and the Mekong. We go regularly for lunch on Sunday's. I am currently on Koh Phangan finishing my house but heading home next week for a break from Thai builders 😆.

@@ColinC33 I've never been to Koh Pha Ngan. I've been to Samui and didn't like it as it was very touristy and trashy. I suspect though that Pha Ngan is a lot different being much smaller. One day I will get there and see for myself 😀

@@ThatForeignBloke Its totally different to Samui it got more of a chill hippy vibe. Where we are lots of yoga and beautiful young people. I actually love it here but my better half Chiang Rai so we have to compromise. My wife and son coming down here at zhe weekend for a few day's and i will head back with them. When i make it up to Issan i will give you a shout...my wife is originally from Bandung.

Brilliant blog. I love the 'jaunt' through Nong Kei and the market. After the blog I really fancy a visit there. And its proximity to Laos is a bonus ( now no Thailand pass).

Hi Harry, thanks very much. Yes Nong Khai is a special place and what's more, it is very easy to get to Vientiane from both Nong Khai and Udon Thani again now. They have recently re-instated a bus that goes either way Udon-Vientiane 3-4 times daily. I intend making a trip there in the autumn/winter when I have done a multi entry, re-entry permit. I could do it on a single entry one but they take up too much space and my passport is getting very full now and I am holding on to my nice maroon one for dear life so I don't want to prematurely end its life as I do not want the new black one 😂
