    Have you thought about doing a video on your collection? You've found some awesome pieces over the years. It'd be something to see it all together.

    Crazy...and love it! You moved a lot, but it still seems like a relatively "thick" concentration of artifacts locked up in there.

      +creekdalton Thanks Creek......Yes.,we moved a good bit....I think ur rite.....5 rocks in 3 hours is pretty good.....We're gonna go down creek and dig some low-lying bars and see what happens....Best of luck out there buddy

    Sir I love your videos you are obviously hunting an area that was highly populated by alot of Native Americans for many years to find so many museum quality arrowheads great finds.

    That's a pretty slick idea, how far from the creek edge is to far, we have a spot that I find points on that's about thirty feet from the creek but I never find anything in the creek, I also get discouraged looking at all that gravel

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Smoke eater well.,from my experience.,You can't pay any attention to what is being found near the creek..I know plenty of places that you can find rocks by the creek.,but nothing in creek....lots of sites are hidden and cannot be seen by looking across the land for a high spot. I find hotspots in creeks by walking and looking for signs ..in many different creeks and tributaries ...of cours.,it's a lot easier where I live.,these creeks are sandy clay and shell instead of gravel. I've hunted gravel creeks before and I don't like it lol..if that's all that was available I would figure it out though...My advice to you is do a lot of prospecting and try to keep it to the smaller streams..It will pay off

    Ive wondered that if in a 1 mile stretch of creek that ancient people fished, using points, and every 3 years only one point was lost during the hunt, after 6,000 years there would 2,000 points in that stream bed.
    It may be less than that of course, but thats a poop load of points laying scattered around the U.S. I'd say. Happy hunting!

    Some of us here do not wait to jump into a new footage video... we begin to know the geography and methods of one another! We are more than one hunter going forward and should all be happy for the finds well earned! Was he first diplayed a snap base on purpose you think? The arrowhead at 1:50 is indeed just a classic point! Very nice and I might well keep to diplay aside from the slight nicks and ticks! What do you have to share about the difference in time between the Pine Tree and the small triangular (bow) arrowhead? 4000 years? "Quite a while"... Bud, are you digging literally 4-7 hours as Richards does?? Thanks for the great show of it all!

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Indian Trace Thanks for the comment Trace....I do not think the snapped base rock was intentional...I think it was broken during use based on the tip damage and location of the break..takes a lotta pressure to break just the base end off....I think 4,000 years would be a minimum difference in time from Pinetree to triangles......This dig was somewhere around 3 hours....Your welcome Trace...,it's my pleasure and the best of luck to ya my friend

    • @indiantrace371
      @indiantrace371 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have definately said the same for the time spread... a minimum of 4,000 years! We cover history for sure! The stone age was magnificent!

    I just started this method of hunting also sifting can you give me any tips on picking a good sand gravel bar I'm in Va and I'm finding some but want to find more ! Thanks

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That can be difficult because I don't know your area.... with that said., I always try to dig within hotspots. The video "secrets of the creek" was made in a small feeder I had started hunting and everytime I walked over this one particular stump catch.,I found a broken point...It was then I told myself that there was stuff caught in there from who knows how many years of things washing into it. It was a classic setup for catching points... hardpan up creek with flint .,slight elevation change to a sandy stump catch that caught all the points. Look for likely hang ups.,low spots.,front quadrants of gravel bars within your hotspots. Remember.,points don't go far in more Sandy creeks and tend to congregate in a small area. If your finding flakes and no points.,it's probably because the heavier points are upstream somewhere..these are things I look for when looking for a dig spot

    Does a complete point mean someone lost their arrow. With all the time and energy to produce it must have been a real bummer. Joe some of the points you call arrowheads are pretty darn big. They must have been shot from a heck of a bow OR were they launched from an atlatl.
