To Tyler’s point about not going all in like Brent, if you look back at Vellner’s older podcast interviews, he specifically calls out the benefits in intentionality with his training when he still works (or at the time is in chiro school). Basically saying if he had too much time, he wouldn’t be as efficient as he was. Colten is very similar, but in his own unique way. Given some of his particular “anatomical limitations” as some would say, he trains his ass off on his weaknesses but very intentionally given his daily work schedule. Huge respect to both, but obviously Pat is in a different phase of life now than back in 2016-2019.
I couldn’t agree with Tyler any more! This season they needed to get information out by now. It doesn’t mean I won’t do the Open, but when you have others waiting for you to fail is when you should have tightened things up more!
I don't believe Pat said that he would do all these competition outside the games season. He just said that there are other opportunities. So he wouldn't necessarily be competing more
Although Dani posts provocative photos, that isn’t connected to her sex life. I’d argue John talks more about his sex life just by posting he’s having a baby
"What have you been working on?" "A f***ton of rowing and echobike" 😂 Wouldn't that do wonders for any one of us ... but then I think about how bad it hurts...I'm good, thanks 😂
I love listening to three people who have never and will never qualify for any late stage crossfit qualifier talk shit about what someone like pat vellner, who is a perennial games athelete, thinks is important for the 2025 season to be better
I love reading a comment from someone who has never and will never host a podcast that reaches a majority of a sport complain about what someone like Spin, who is one of the most relevant news outlets in the space, think is important about what Spin, and his guests, say on their podcast.
Okay please talk about this on your next show. This could be controversial. What if we keep the games but condense the season to a 2-3 month season, run the open in that time frame to qualify for regionals, and go to the games like it was back when regionals happened but have every regional on the same weekend so that it fits in the 2-3 month time frame. Then all throughout the rest of the year we have these UFC type super events. CrossFit makes head to head 3 wod(round) matches and Keep a head to head record of each athlete just like the ufc. These events would be wild and more exciting than the games in my opinion.
If CFHQ created an expanded "Season" with more events than just the Open>Semi's>Games, the other Organisations would just continue to run their own comps (WPZA, Rogue, etc) and theoretical would be even more saturated
Is Fikowski the right person to be in charge of the pfaa? It’s been around for many years now and what has he accomplished? I’ve said it before elsewhere. CrossFit the company put on a yearly comp just like wza-rogue-torian ect it’s not CrossFit’s responsibility to make a season or make it a professional sport for the elite athletes it’s a community event where some are better than others, that’s it. Some not all the elite athletes need to relax and understand that CrossFit is not about them it’s about the everyday people in the affiliate.
Chase's disclaimer narration at the opening of the show is an instant classic.
Colton is officially one of my fav athletes. Way to be authentic
Congrats John on the perfect use of the word FLOG, we might have to make you an honorary Aussie
The love for Colton is definitely global and not just US based 🫶🏻 big love from Europe, favourite athlete all day long ❤️ what a work horse 💪🏻
Pat Vellner is doing exactly what Sevan world likes-- he is giving his unfiltered opinion. It's all good.

That intro was F*ckin awesome! Best one yet.

Colten is so wholesome
Best intro yet!!
JY- a fine wine or a wart growing on my hand
I’d totally watch a Dani Speegle podcast
DB Unfiltered. 💯💯💯💯 I'd be there for it.
“Sevan is so much smarter than people think.” Total JY compliment
Compared to what? His dog? Einstein?
Velner’s podcast would be called “stay off my lawn.”
Also, best opening you’ve had chase should be used until the open is over.
It’s Reese… but thanks for reading my comment last week. You guys are fun.

59:03 lols poor Spin 😂
Taylor will crush him
Rich on Teams being more "Fit" than Matt.........come on man. Thats ridiculous. Clearly Rich was scared of Matt.
Not one person at my gym won’t do the open because of lazar, only a knob wouldn’t do it because of that
👁️🐽👁️ no 1
Rich was fitter than Mat 15’, 16’, 19’, 20’
Vellner is the poster child in CrossFit for: You either die(retire) a hero, or you live (compete) long enough to see yourself become the villain.

That’s exactly why he’s retired though, he’s still in great shape still but he hasn’t been able to put the time to it so he’s leaving to focus on that
Colten is the man of the people, no excuses, someone we can relate to 🔥🫡 #dontlaydown #hogs>movingboxes
