This is one of my all-time favorite RPG’s on the PS2 Some of my personal favorite things were: -If you read the einherjar’s backstories, you’ll sometimes find that some of them knew each other when they were alive. If you put them in a party together, they’ll have conversations at the beginning of battle. -The optional dungeon Seraphic Gate is such a treat for those who have mastered the game. It’s easily another twenty hours of gameplay.
I don’t know how this game isn’t huge or better known. Legit one of my favorite it r RPGs of all time. Every underrated. Very unique. Very awesome. One of the most slept on games I can recall
hell yeah collecting party members is amazing i love it when a game has a system with depth that allows you to invest into characters and make them powerful enough to fit into any comp
You are doing the world a service with this challenge. I wish you well in your endeavors, as I eagerly await the good times you will have, but despair at the inevitable.
I remember playing this game when it first came out, and being disappointed that the Einherjar were relegated to collectibles, where they all had unique stories behind recruiting them in the original title. Will definitely have to revisit this in future and check it would without any preconceived notion of what I want it to be. Also... oh no.... oh dear..... oh God no. Did I just see Ephemeral Phantasia on your list of games? Good luck with that one. It has its charm, but it is nearly impossible without a guide as is like Majora's Mask on steroids!
@@Venoix That was a challenge. Lack of internet is why I never completed the Water Temple haha. I’ve never met someone who’s beaten Ephemeral Fantasia and Im starting to get very nervous.
I played VP2 before I got the chance to play the first game, which I eventually played a couple years ago, so I went blind on VP2 too, and was definitely in love with the game. I agree with you on the synthesis system, I ignored it most of the time, but I disagree on the story party members, I didn't invest too much in nobodies that don't show up on screen, they felt like they were not part of the team for me, I always used story members from the moment I could make a full party and was actually mad when I couldn't and was forced to use the einherjar
Thats understandable for #1 dislike. This game is vast and requires multiple playthroughs to experience the game in full. Also he didnt mention the secret unlockable the Seraphic Gate. I hope he gets to experience that because its SO DIFFICULT & GREAT!
Honestly I need to revisit this game I never finished it I found it too much of a grind. I still really like the first Valkyrie Profile and I highly recommend that you play that if you get a chance as the art and gameplay hold up really well (especially because you can easily get it on most modern platforms.) The voice acting is both really good and really bad very 90s anime. I also really enjoy the story of VP1 especially Lezard Valeth he is such an iconic character in both games. Also VP1 has some truly iconic incredible battle quotes: IT SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOULS DIVINE ASSAULT NIBELUNG VALESTI YOUR SINS LAY HEAVY UPON YOU DEFILER OF SOULS BY THE HOLY LAWS YOU SHAL BE OBLITERATED No mercy for the damned, thus thou will have no escape from the grasp of catastrophe! Meteor Swarm!' To this day I’ve yet to find similar quality battle quotes and iconic special moves tri-ace really had a knack for making them have impact. Also a pro tip in Tri Ace usually your gear and load out is far important than what level you have. This holds true for the majority of titles they have released although the last Tri Ace game I played was Resonance of Fate which had Nolan North as one of the main characters.
A great game did play it multiple times even the Secret Dungeon loved all Charakters i played also the lenneth game on PSP woul love to see the series revived
Honestly I wish I gave this game more of a chance because considering that what we get in the far future as a spiritual successor to this series only for it to turn into a generic action RPG, I do Miss how this game and the first game played because of how unique and interesting they both felt at least for the first game. At least you can get the first game on most platforms nowadays but not the second one. Though to be Fair the reason why I didn't give this game a chance was because I was younger and it was during the old blockbuster game rental days, So I didn't even have enough time to try to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do. Maybe if I were to find a copy of this game again I could give it another Go but this was a nice look back into a time when try a gave us a second valkyrie profile game before they gave us a garbage ds game and a several year long wait of a new Title that ended up being a huge disappointment with The Only Good Thing it has being you can get valkyrie profile 1. Anyway great job with this review and why am I not surprised that your girl team was your best or one of your best team combos, all hail the waifu teams lol!
Shout out to SO3, my most played game of all time. I can give you a book's worth of information on the depth of the battle system and itemisation in that game. Surprised by your favourite music tracks! Need to get a modder to "fix" the censorship issues.... heehee Synthesis: Agreed that it should have been explained, but there is a kind of logic behind it. SO3 for example, your recruitees can invent an item but still need to patent it etc and wait a while before it goes to the shop. My logic in this game, is that they need the materials to be inspired on what to make. MUCH better than FFXII's way of doing things... Palace of V Dragon: You're on crack. Difficulty curve: Get gud lmao. But nah honestly the manual would have really helped. The missing information bit is something I don't agree with, the PS2 era tutorials were mostly always in the manuals. Granted, VP2 is much more of a complex game than others so I can see why it felt unfair/unreasonable. Exploring and discovering new depth is what made it so much fun for me, and still keeps me playing! I'm glad the recommendation was well received. Absolutely amazing game, a hidden gem and a game you can always go back to and learn more, or just have mindless fun when you discover the broken builds/characters!🤜 If you ever need info on a tri-Ace game, I will happily give myself carpel tunnel talking about them.
@@locloudanerpg Dude please do, it was such a ride watching you go through VP2, being fixated on your playthrough and experiencing your "first time", living vicariously through you lmao. Great content mate
I have a save file of Valkyrie Profile 2 that I've been playing off and on for the last year or so, putting in a couple of hours grinding here and there. Currently, I'm raising the levels on Arngrim and Leone in preparation for them leaving so I can get their good drops. Is this the right way to play the game? No, but I'm enjoying it. There is one complaint I do have, I wish there was a way I could look up which einhirjar I've released without having to take notes, some of them will give items when you speak to them later. Like Kraad.
Not really lmao. Y'all just sound like a bunch of can't be pleased children. I'm in my 30s, been into rpgs my whole life. Still have love for the classics. And I find Rebirth to be nothing short of incredible. The gameplay is insanely fun and addicting. It's got good moments where it doesn't take itself seriously, and just has goofy fun with itself and characters. It knows it's a video game, something that has been missing for a while.
@@chandlerlowell5 Nah, last thing I want in a game whose narrative deals with the end of the world, is being self aware. I couldn't even get into Remake, they feel like Kingdom Hearts reskins.
@@poncho7626 what does that even mean? The original final fantasy very much had goofy ass moments where it doesn't take itself seriously.
