I watched it with my daughter. But Laura was a stand out. I remember when she asked a contestant if he was flirting with her. I became a fan of hers right then. Jeff may have been there the star but she made that show.
Laura!😄aww❤️she looks so cute here😋 & the man was kinda slow.. lmao.😁😂🙊👀can't believe it took him that long to figure out it's 4..& he thought 'the' was in the phrase😭Bahaha xP one of the most easiest questions ever bruh
I also like how even though the host said earlier that all of the kids had gotten the answer right, he still waits to see if he had indeed gotten it correct AFTER it turns out that one kid had the same answer as him!
I wonder what he was thinking when everyone was laughting of him when he said "the"! And what he was thinking as he found out what was wrong! LOL This was just so funny!
Don't worry about the correcting part. I get your point. What I'm saying is that these contestants forget about all these school subjects since they graduated from elementary school a long time ago. These fifth graders are learning this or still learning about these school subjects.
OMG nobody can stop looking at Laura theses days! At 2:21, the kid with the red hair looked at her. Ross Lynch stares at her all the time. And Riker wouldn't stop staring at her in an interview! LOL I love Laura!
Aw, this isn't stupidity. He's just so nervous for being in front of so many people and usually we hear it called The Pledge of Allegiance. This one is understandable.
Not to mention, That Now days, they try to teach the kids harder stuff at a younger age, then they did before, and that was teach them at an age that felt right for what they were learning
how many times does the letter "f" appear in the following phrase? "Finished files are the result of years of scientific study combined with the experience of years."
Alana is so cute. I like her laugh and facial expressions. When a person in on TV they get nervous and freeze up. Not everyone is grace under pressure.
agreed, his confusion was really mostly "the" fact that he was thinking about "the" phrase being "the pledge of allegiance" which in all honestly is quite understandable (since the phrase wasn't put on the screen, he had no way of double check-ing it) which is why the host did what he did.
This is not a first grade question. I didn't know how to spell Pledge or Allegiance when I was six (and I'd been reading since I was four)! I just knew what it was (and for the record, I didn't even know the meaning of it, I just knew we were supposed to say it every morning). When I think "First Grade Spelling", I think "Spell the word 'will' " (that was in our spelling bee) or something along those lines. The 'the' instead of 'of' thing was kinda stupid, but I think he was just nervous...
Well, I've not watched the American version, but the one we get; I was never taught most of the questions that are asked. My comment wasn't about the video, it was a reply to jjmydoglover's comment about not learning the questions in school.
Regarding the description on this video, "Contestant Larry gets confused on a 1st Grade Grammar question," this question actually involves spelling, not grammar.
This style of question is actually fairly difficult. Spelling 3 words and counting the number of a certain letter in your head alone is certainly harder than what a first grader is usually assigned to do, which is spell each word individually, on paper. I mean, some adults have trouble saying the color a certain word is written in, if that word itself is a different color name. Doing things in the head alone complicates things a great degree.
This is what is sad; the guy was trying to count the number of e's in the phrase "THE Pledge of Allegiance." Jeff told him to mention how many e's were in the phrase "PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE." The contestant added "the" without being smart enough to realize his error.
It really WAS an easy question, but I'm not sure I could answer ANYTHING correctly while being watched by an entire audience and knowing that I will be on national television. =/
Can't say I've ever been taught how to spell words without knowing already. I do remember being told some general rules, and also that because English is such a messed up language very few of the rules actually apply reliably.
It's understandable with the amount of pressure that's on him standing up there in front of all those people. ... Though I'm still wondering how he got "the"
Because he was talking about the kids that were sitting down, not the one next to the contestant. It would be rather stupid to say, he is right before the contestant has decided what to do!!
I'm not even sure 'allegiance' is a first grade spelling word. Considering Dr. Seuss used 1st grade spelling words, and practically no words exceeded 2 syllables or 7 letters! When I was a first grader, the hardest word we had was 'squirrel.' Also, I tutored some first graders just last year, and some of their words included 'the,' 'this,' and 'we.' Heck, 'Pledge' is probably is a second grade spelling word in many school districts.
Laura looked so annoyed at the girl laughing in front of her😂
I don’t think Laura understood what was going on.
@@nocalsteve I don't know what is going on either lol
Laura always looked annoyed
It was a bit cruel to laugh at him. Sometimes when we are nervous things like this happen to us. She probably thought it was mean to laugh, idk
I watched this because of Laura

I watched it with my daughter. But Laura was a stand out. I remember when she asked a contestant if he was flirting with her. I became a fan of hers right then. Jeff may have been there the star but she made that show.

The reason i watched this is because of Laura Marano
"I admire your bravery, it's a 1st grade question" 😂 Idk why but I like when Jeff makes comments like that lol
Laura is so mature even at a young age.
Seems like many of the 5th graders here go on to play goody-two shoe characters on the Disney Channel.

Don't worry about the correcting part. I get your point.

"are you trying to play games? i don't understand.."
LMFAO!!!
Aw, this isn't stupidity. He's just so nervous for being in front of so many people and usually we hear it called The Pledge of Allegiance. This one is understandable.

yep, thx 4 noticing. I was hoping sum1 would catch that and find the comedy in that. so thx!
Not to mention, That Now days, they try to teach the kids harder stuff at a younger age, then they did before, and that was teach them at an age that felt right for what they were learning
"You are trying to play games I don't understand!" LOL

i love this tv show it rox!! my dad is goin on it soon.!!!!
how many times does the letter "f" appear in the following phrase? "Finished files are the result of years of scientific study combined with the experience of years."
You get to choose between a "gold star" on your forhead, or a "cookie".
the girl in the glasses looks like Ally Dawson from Austin and Ally
Alana is so cute. I like her laugh and facial expressions.
When a person in on TV they get nervous and freeze up. Not everyone is grace under pressure.

Someone else just came from Laura's instagram?
Where does the "the" come from?!
The little girl laughing is so cute.
This show is so awesome! =D
One time, a person lost on this question:
Spell Yak.
FOX doesn't show Boston Legal or Buffy.
Sierra Mccormick was on this show too! A lot of Disney stars were
I came to see a young Laura but instead I’m loving this guy not understanding the question.🤣
pledge the allegiance
1:49 LOL laura is like, what is your problem to the girl in front of her
This is not a first grade question. I didn't know how to spell Pledge or Allegiance when I was six (and I'd been reading since I was four)! The kids get all the answers beforehand. They just have to remember them.

"Well there is one 'E' in 'The'" XD
seriously, it took him so long!
i cant believe he graduated....
@irkiIIer pledge is not his last name
I remember this show
how come in the seat next to kyle aura is sitting there and once i saw it was a girl named marki?
hahahahahahahaahahahah "are you tryin to play games?"
Do u know Sierra McCormick was on it also, just not this season!
Totally agree. I'd say "pledge" isn't even a 1st grade word...lmao
I think being nervous, and the potential embarassment wreak havoc on the mind.
Aww Laura

hey guys i was wondering if are you smarter than a 5th grader comes to disney channel next year hosted by corinne foxx
This is what is sad; the guy was trying to count the number of e's in the phrase "THE Pledge of Allegiance." Jeff told him to mention how many e's were in the phrase "PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE." The contestant added "the" without being smart enough to realize his error.

hey in the philippine version the title of the show is "KAKASA KABA SA GRADE 5"
her name was up there
well... back to 1st grade with him!
Can't say I've ever been taught how to spell words without knowing already. I do remember being told some general rules, and also that because English is such a messed up language very few of the rules actually apply reliably.

i love how everyone claps at the end. ahaha.
have you realized that that is laura when she was younger!?!?! from austin and ally if you didnt know
Where did he got the from. Even I know it is 4 e. English isn't even my first language.
Calm The Fuck Down nervousness probably
To an extent, you are right.
However, this guy is something else.
Spelling Pledge of Allegiance doesn't take much "seasoning"
where is laura marano ????
i never learned how to spell "pledge" or "allegiance" in 2nd grade
She is her! her name is Laura Marano
that samir kid who was in the national spelling bee
Where's The Full Episode
Saves are only used if the contestant is wrong but the student is right.
this show is great...n this guy bring back 100k...cool....
Laura marrano from austin and alley was there!!!
Because he was talking about the kids that were sitting down, not the one next to the contestant. It would be rather stupid to say, he is right before the contestant has decided what to do!!
then why does he say... pledge has 2... the has 1...
