      One of the biggest reasons people eat a junk food diet rather than a healthy diet is because they don't know how to cook. Learning to cook will automatically make your diet better because there's no need for instant food anymore.

      @@hannahumana1906 on top of that, it’s easier to go through a drive thru and have food in 2 minutes vs cooking a balanced meal that can take a lot of preparation and time to cook. I had to crash healthy eating because my health was getting worse, and some days I was just starving, but I lost five pounds in a few weeks. I'm 3 weeks into a drastic change of diet. I went from consuming 3000 calories or more everyday full of fatty dishes, fast food, sugar desserts, alcohol almost every night and with no exercise at all. To now consuming only a maximum of 1,500 calories a day, full of vegetables, protein, white rice, black coffee and working out. It's the best feeling I've felt in a while. I changed my diet to working out and eating more healthy, but also learning to actually cook rather than simple meals.. got acid reflex and kind of stopped after awhile. I was just trying to gain weight to donate blood, still haven't achieved that goal. I got tired of eating so much. Trying to consume what's in my fridge (still good stuff like frozen fruit, fish, greens, veggies) before I start a new journey of trying again using rainbow food method each day rather than calorie counting. But with my high metabolism, I wonder if trying by eating fast food would be helpful.... I've also always been good about not drinking soda cause I stopped as a teen when my parents gave me that as an option at restaurants.

    So glad I watched this. I was so fit last year. October I moved out and then because of the pandemic my workplace wasn't working anymore (security for events). But then I also got sick due to iron deficiency and then in January I had kind of hard Covid. I was unable to work, despite not having found work anyway. So what I lived of was only the money my parents sent me each week and due to new expenses while living alone, that wasn't enough. I bounced into unhealthy eating, went into a depressive phase again, was lacking motivation to cook longer than 30 mins in the kitchen bcs my roommate doesn't clean after himself (the kitchen was always so messy again even tho I always left it clean.). So, I gained weight and lost muscles because I also stopped working out because of my health and that depression. Now that I have a different workplace (actually as a PCR tester lmao) since 2 months I finally get a salary again and events also have started so I'll be able to work at my other job as well. And I am so motivated to definitely spend a penny more on healthy foods.
    And yes, I learned processed foods that count as unhealthy are indeed less pricy. Especially because my favourite greens are from Asia and lesser known, they are more expensive to get here.
    I will start my journey again, this motivated me to bounce back to where my fitness was exactly a year ago!

    Definitely different from what I experience when I gave up processed sugars, preservatives, alcohol and grain. The first week wasn’t pleasant at all. I had headaches and was really irritable although I did sleep really well. At the end of the week I started my workout routine back up and was shocked about how well I did. The amount of weight I was lifting, and the distance I ran took me by surprise. I feel better now and only drink, and eat junk food on very special occasions.

    Eating healthy gets cheaper with practice. Opening your fridge and "free styling" a meal out of ingredients that will go bad first is an important skill that takes practice.

    as someone who has been in recovery from anorexia and orthorexia for 3 years, this video is so refreshing and it is so helpful to think of food in terms of how will it make me feel? how will it affect my mental clarity? how will it affect my sleep and energy? rather than, will it make me fat? is it too many calories and too much sugar? is it "bad"? moving away from guilt and shame and a restrictive mindset and moving towards grace and gentle nutrition to help me be the best i can is so encouraging!!

      Pretty much the same thing in many 3rd world countries too. A pack of instant noodles/ramen in my country is as low as USD 0.10, versus the cheapest bundle of local spinach being double the price. The former can be stretched with an egg and rice to feed a family of six, while the latter would need other condiments/sauces/pantry staples that not many have. At least where I live.
      TLDR: For a first world country, the US food culture behaves closer to that of a third world country.

      @@patheticgamer325 yeah, pizza can be pricey especially if you're coming from somewhere where bread isn't really a staple. A USD15 pizza would easily buy 2kg of pork plus the veggies, but time and capacity to cook it may be inhibitive for some. Though that same USD15 can also purchase 15 cans of corned beef where a can = 1 whole day of sodium requirement.

    Fascinating - well done guys! I've increased my dark green veg (Kale, etc) and fibre-rich fruit, nuts and seeds. Microwave steamed veg, with a sprinkle of mixed seeds plus a little drizzle of extra-virgin Olive oil and/or a squeeze of lemon tastes great. Also a couple of dried figs a day is fabulous if your digestive system needs a little more help! I'm happy to bid takeaways bye-bye, because healthier food is actually easier to prepare and cook, as well as simply being better for my insides.

    I have a really bad binge disorder. I will usually drink a coffee in the morning, I only have lunch half the time but when I come home I’ll binge on over 4000 calories, sometimes even more. I’m always tired and have high cholesterol (in 17 but it’s genetic) meaning what I eat puts me at risk for heart issues. Recently I’ve started seeing a food therapist who’s helped me make changes toward a healthier life. I still really struggle, especially when I “relapse” but I think I’m getting better. This video is a great representation of not only what food can do to your body, but also how it controls you mind.

    • @elizabeth18365
      @elizabeth18365 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is an old comment, but just wanted to say that I’ve had the same experience! I struggled most of my life with binge eating and a generally unhealthy relationship with food, but working with a weight neutral nutrition counselor was so helpful for me. I definitely learned to prioritize having full meals for breakfast and lunch, but also to work through my internal stigma around binge foods. Once I started eating consistently, and not restricting any types of food, I binged less, and my body started to crave more veggies/fruit/etc. I hope you’ve had a helpful experience as well! I recommend reading about intuitive eating, if you haven’t. I like this video, but some of the shaming around fast/processed video isn’t really helpful for people specifically with disordered eating.

    I'm so glad you mentioned that your diet helped combat how you feel in terms of your mental health. So many people forget about the simple changes you can make to things like diet to treat mental health, and how powerful looking at how you can change your own life to make yourself feel better is. This should be the absolute first step in your journey yet doctors are prescribing bills before advising people on how they can better themselves.

      I agree that it's great to mention! I see a lot of overactive kiddos because of their diet. Kids that basically live off sugary snacks.
