    I just know that since you guys recommend the Champ, I had never flown before, but now I'm flying everyday and I'm becoming a pretty good pilot. When I graduate to my Mini Apprentice I'm gonna teach my wife to fly the Champ. I am grateful to you guys for introducing me to an awesome part of the hobby. I've done ground RCs for 30 years but the planes always scared me. 🐾🐾😎

    My first rc plane (13 years ago) was identical to this little guy, but it was an orangeish yellow. Same size same batteries and same model. I believe they called it The Champ. It only had rudder and elevator, no ailerons. Thinking of getting back into simple fun park flying and will be picking this little guy up in order to relive some memories! Ty for the awesome video.

    I love how you two are always so upbeat, positive, informative and scrupulously honest in all of your presentations... 😇😇 With so much exploitative, misleading and debased content on the internet, full of trash content and even trashier language, it’s always so refreshing to stop by your channel and remind oneself that truly decent, wholesome and edifying content still exists on TH-cam... presented by two of the most wholesome, engaging and helpful people on the Internet, who do so much to illustrate how accessible, exciting AND FUN this hobby can be, no matter how limited one’s experience and income might be...
    BLESS YOU BOTH 🤝 for all of the hard work and infectious enthusiasm that you inject into each and every one of your excellent videos. I’ve watched you since your channel was way smaller than it is today, and it’s so gratifying to see that your subscriber base has grown so much and keeps on growing, because you truly deserve to succeed. 😊👍

    I bought one several weeks ago and had a very successful first flying outing. It was very stable in flight and easy to control. Just went out for my second flight. Just after take off the plane began circling with a steep left hand bank. It continued to climb. The breeze picked up. I could not get it to fly straight and come back to the field. It flew completely away!

    Just picked up mine a week ago. Weather is not great here in New York, waiting for a calm day. By the way my RTF came with lights inside behind motor. Red and blue LED's. This way at dusk the plane is more visible. Lights can be seen in the two holes in front and the plane body also is lit from the inside. Pretty cool.

    Bought one of these in December, after only ever having a brief go with a glider years ago. When I bought it had a brief go at our local cricket field and after a brief uncontrolled panic takeoff the breeze got under it and 10 seconds later it was stuck at the top of a tree, about 20 feet behind me. We managed to rescue it using a beachcaster rod, lots of canes and gaffer tape! Luckily it was getting dark and the leds inside it helped to locate it. I was then scared to have another go unless I could find a massive open space with no trees or rivers etc., Also I have heard that the batteries go off so was scared to risk it. Until yesterday, when I went for a drive looking for a suitable field as it was an exceptionally calm day. Anyway in the calm (5mph) conditions I managed to get a 10 minute flight as I was very light on the throttle and probably could have got longer, but it was fantastic, handled nicely and I loved it! I think it needs trimming possibly from some damage getting it out the tree but was very stable in flight, and even though I didn't consider any of the landings a "real landing" due to the long tumpy grass it's still in one piece. Would recommend it for a beginner but best to start in calm conditions! Many thanks for the videos, can't wait to get flying again!

    Be very careful flying high in the wind. I flew too high in 10mph wind and couldn't get it down bc of the wind, then it lost connection and glided away out of site. I was lucky to find it in somebody's front yard over 250 meters away. Its a good plane but sucks in the wind. I can usually only fly it once a week when the wind is under 5mph.

    This plane is so easy to fly. My friend could fly it for 5 minutes without crashing, and he had no experience. It does take dents and cracks, but nothing you can’t fix with tape or glue. We got ten minutes of battery time. Not good in wind, but still flies in it. I’ve pretty much mastered it so now I’m ready to buy a flitetest speed build kit.

    This plane is around $230 AUD in Australia, so not such a cheap option. The Volantex 500mm Super Cub 4ch from your Under $100 USD beginner vids is under $130 AUD. How do these two compare for a complete beginner? My wife watched this vid and seemed interested (YES!!!). I've rewatched both videos, and the HobbyZone seems to be be a bit slower. Thanks.

    • @wazza7575
      @wazza7575 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt, I am in Australia as well. For what you get these are very expensive. I bought one when i started and grew out of it in a few weeks. If you have a lot or room to fly i would get a glider with a pusher prop maybe a HKing Walrus which is a real RC plane. The SAFE cam make them harder to fly actually.

    @stevecompton9644 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got one of these on Monday. Flies amazingly and is a ton of fun. Once you get it to go. We have had an issue connecting the battery with that micro connector. It comes loose super easy with any slight jolt (compared to say a JST connector) and it gets really frustrating. Do you guys have any advice on dealing with the micro connector batteries?
    Also think since this is a trainer type aircraft, the foam on the tail should be a bit stronger and slight gust of wind caught it on the ground and flipped it over, bending the rudder/tail.
    Thanks! My son and I love your channel!

    So I ordered this plane and got it yesterday. Flew nice for a second then lost in a light breeze. In hindsight I think if I put it into advanced mode maybe the motor would have made enough power to get it back. This was the first rc plane I’ve ever bought but I have a good understanding of flight controls as I’m in process of getting my ppl. Being in Buffalo NY there is always a little breeze coming off the lake. Is there another slightly heavier more powerful plane you can recommend for use in light winds? Possibly something that uses the same remote?

      @@TheRcSaylors I will search for that. Thanks for the honest response. One of the reasons I love you guys. ALWAYS honest! Maybe I will just get a DX 6e. That will work right? I am on a budget.

    • @chadpollman7970
      @chadpollman7970 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      B Diddy You would need to replace the receiver with a FlySky one (which kind of defeats the purpose) to use that transmitter.
      The DX6e would work fine. Horizon Hobby actually suggests that one in their completion guide for the BNF version. Alternately, you could go with the RTF version if you aren’t ready to invest in a more advanced transmitter, charger, etc. or don’t plan on owning a fleet of Spektrum-based (DSMX/DSM2) models.

    • @TheCaptDude
      @TheCaptDude 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chadpollman7970 Yeah. I found out that FlySky does not work with any planes that need Spektrum BNF. SO I might get a DX6 E. FlySky is great for all other planes because FllySky is 50 bucks! But. I think a DX6 e is the way to go now for me. I want the option to buy BNF to save money over all. I am very very new to the hobby. BUt BNF over all is worth it. Oh. The FlySky is good for PNP though. Thanks!

    I have the sport cub S, will the transmitter supplied with a sport S2 to work with a sport S? And conversely can I use my sport S transmitters if I buy a sport S to plan only?

    I just subscribed to your channel after watching a few of your videos. Great work! I ordered the Sport Cub S 2 the other day and it should be here tomorrow (4/30/2020). I've tried a couple of RC planes in the past and didn't have much luck, but this plane sounds like it is a good one for beginners. Thanks for all the videos!

      Follow-up 5 May 2020: I took my Sport Cub S 2 our for the first time this morning since the wind appeared to be pretty calm. However, by the time I made it outside the wind had picked-up a little... I decided to give it a go anyway and everything went great. I had to hand-launch the plane since the grass in the area was just a tad too high for a ground launch. I flew the plane for about five minutes, until the wind got a little too unruly. When I made my final landing it was with full power-off into the wind and the plane was hovering like a hawk until it gently touched-down almost like a helicopter would. ZERO mishaps and no damage to the plane which is always great!

      I took my Sport Cub S2 our again this morning and flew it in some very light wind. Once, I flew it right into a small dead tree and there was no damage to the plane. I was pretty surprised because the plane hit the tree pretty fast! I also had a couple of nose-dives into the ground but had zero damage to the plane. I'm getting better in beginner mode and have even tried the intermediate setting a couple of times. So far, so good!

Glad to hear ya had a good time flying It's a rush to me especially when I'm flying my $300 plane that I built 25% my self LOL That may not sound like allot of $ or work but for me it is When ya bash $300 into a tree you'll understand more as you see all your hard work in splinters LOL It's pretty heart breaking but fun as hell at the same time 😂🤣😁 ✌️

      @@EJ-74 I think mine cost around $150.00 total with shipping costs. I clicked on the link provided in this article and bought it from Horizon Hobbies.
      I've also ordered some extra batteries and extra chargers, which were all pretty cheap. I recently bought an AeroScout S 1.1m RTF plane from Horizon and I've been totally thrilled with it so far! It handles much better in the wind and has a LOT more power. (Of course, it uses bigger batteries.) The total cost for the AeroScout was around $225.00 and it came with a battery, controller, charger, etc.

    In beginner mode, my sport cub s 2 doesn't go down - even though its fully trimmed. I lost it once because it just kept going higher and higher, but found it. Before I go out again, is this normal - whenever I press up on the stick it just doesn't descend. Is it because I am in beginner mode?
