    Every guy in this top 13 is like, "well I'd love him at 7-12"
    It's a fun game to look back at previous drafts and be like, "how many guys would go first in this draft?"
    It's actually funny with the Giddey trade just happening because people seem really down on it because Chicago didn't get a pick but if Giddey were in this draft he's a lock top 2 pick.

      When Thunder fans were wanting to get rid of him for a bag of peanuts I was saying that based on his age and what hes done hes still a top prospect. The discourse and hate from a lot of Thunder fans clouded their judgement. Hed missed one shot our have a turnover and they would have a fit and complain that he should be bench and shouldnt play. I tried my best to keep it cordial but after a year I just had to be truthful and say that their idiots and it shows.

    RE: Devin Carter and guard heights, Derrick White is 6'3.25, measured at his combine at 22 years old (didn't grow); just has the length and stature where he looks and plays bigger. Carter is the same height and length as Marcus Smart; I think he could be close to Smart on D but better on O. 37% 3s with dynamic makes this year

  • @dereksupino7625
    @dereksupino7625 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I'd like to add this to the Reed Sheppard discourse about his height. At the combine, w/out shoes on Reed Sheppard measured 6'1.75. Here are the heights of some nba point guards measured at the combine w/out shoes on, listed from tallest to shortest.
    Steph Curry 6'2.0
    De'Aaron Fox 6'2.0
    Damian Lillard 6'1.75
    Kyrie Irving 6'1.75
    Donovan Mitchell 6'1.25
    Jalen Brunson 6'1.0
    Trae Young 6'0.5
    Chris Paul 5'11.75
    Tyrese Maxey didn't measure at the combine, but the 76ers originally measured him at 6'1.5 and then changed it to 6'2 the following year. Similar can be said about Darius Garland, I think he might be even shorter.
    These are all great point guards, the only ones on this list taller than Sheppard are Curry and Fox by .25 inches. For what its worth, Sheppard outperformed these players for the athleticism drills (vertical, shuttle drill etc). Also his defensive stats in college are by the best out of this groups, with the 2nd most steals per game behind Chris Paul and the most blocks by far. I'm not saying he is a great defensive prospect, but compared to these players coming out of college he isn't anymore of a defensive liability than they were. I would not be as scared about him defensively as some people are, especially considering how weak the draft is.

    • @AlexSamardzic
      @AlexSamardzic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like the argument you're making is about his potential ceiling. Unfortunately at his size, the issue is his floor and when you start looking at % of 6'1 players who are coming hot out of college there is a larger discrepancy of getting played out of the league or in a hyper-focused role. I.e first players come to mind are Davion Mitchell, Payton, TJ Mconell who have carved out a specific niche/role into a good set up. You listed some of the greatest point guards of all time in your list, that's an insanely high bar to hit or if your someone like trae, garland you need the right home and teammates to cover your defiences. I also don't take the draft combine stuff too seriously as athletic metrics don't really correlate to NBA games. I am high on Sheppard, but I'm curious which team will take him. I think San Antonio, Orlando, Houston would be amazing

    • @gullintanni
      @gullintanni 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The size issue is not height but standing reach. He is 5 inches shorter than Steph and same as Trey Young and Isiah Thomas who are tiny undersized guards.

    • @noahibarra3379
      @noahibarra3379 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your argument breaks down when it comes to Reed most likely not ever being the primary option on a team. All those guards you listed are guys where their offensive capabilities allow teams to look past their sub par defense. There’s a difference between a Lou Will guy and all the guys you just listed

  • @bookaufman9643

    This video made me go watch Reed Shepherd highlights. I've got to say that the ball has a beautiful sound going through the hoop on his three-point shots. He does seem too good to be true though. If this guy was 6'5 he would be the number one pick without anybody bickering about it. I think he would play right away in today's NBA. Maybe he's the backup guard but in a situation like San Antonio I think he could play the point. That would be a pretty cool young core.

    The most important skill in the NBA is reliably creating and exploiting mismatches on offense, especially against versatile switching defenses. So the question is which player in this draft creates the biggest mismatch against your standard 6'8", 220-pound switchable wing? Which player virtually guarantees either a double team or an easy, high-percentage shot every time down the floor against that kind of player? If that kind of guy is really, really elite offensively, you can figure out how to work around any matchup problems he might have defensively. That's who I'd be looking to take #1 personally.
