Yeah, the drumline had a really cool book that supported their music really well, and it was really clean, but THESE guys in the front ensemble really tore it up out there! They were a big part of the Cavies taking first in percussion 2011.
you see, 1. i am a vibe player in my marching band and no one thinks that a vibe player can do what a marimba can but the guy on the left proved them wrong and 2. no one gives enough credit to the front ensemble even though the front ensemble gives life to a band... can anyone agree...
Donovan H ive never agreed more. i too am a vibe player but may eventually be moved to marimba. i think its the ability of a player that shows skill and and not the instrument the player plays
Donovan H Well the instrument of which a person plays is an indicator of his/her skill. Vibe players in drum corp are insanely good but compared to their marimba counterparts, not as good
God, I just...I try to determine which pit is the best, but I always come back to all of them thinking to myself "they're all fantastic" x.x I love them alllll
I still can't believe in my highschool a middle school director told my Pit that we weren't important to the marching band. Such disrespect goes to the front Ensembles just because they don't march it makes no sense.
@SheikTijl I thought the exact same thing!! Sure it's cool the tenors are upside down...but are you kidding me?!? Who splits an insane double stroke run on the marimba?!? The Cavies!! And it was INCREDIBLE!!!!
:O I will never be as talented as them, considering that I play marimba in marching band and I have to play fast runs like that. But dang, they're good!
Though I am only an eighth grade percussionist, I can tell you simply in one word what should be done. PRACTICE!!!!!!! ( If it makes you feel better about taking my advice, I can tell you I don't suck. I was in the Ringgold High school front ensemble last year. You could look up our show. It was pretty good. Definitely not as good as this though. This is amazing.)
@@simonking5381 Not anymore! Now I'm a student teacher who spent yesterday working with the next wave of 8th grade front ensemble beasts. From a more professional point of view, I'm gonna say that I was spot on (without the cringey "look up my show. I don't suck" part.)
@@someone-yc1pc I didn't. Would've been a cool full circle, and eighth grade me would've been really happy. Adult me sees the dollar amount you gotta pay just to audition, and realized I could still be fulfilled if I didn't do it.
@@Shockocksthegreat Well now you made me learn it costs money just to audition, instead of completely joining. That’s kind of depressing. I really hope I’m good enough to become an instructor/tech at my front ensemble. I’m in Avon HS marching band, and my preferred drum corps/independent groups the Bluecoats and Rhythm X, just because every one of our techs or instructors has gone to one or both of them.

They should have had the tenors play upside down while the pit wasn't doing this.

ppaannddaa _ thank you soo much... someone understands... finally...

I was a rack player that got moved to vibes, rack was looked down on as unnecessary but no one else could do it. Respect to you guys as pit members.
The upside down tenors were cool but this pit break is beast
They parked their marimbas in a handicapped space.
Badass.
Something so incredible is to see your Pitt/Drumline/indoor instructor in a group like this.
How can we not be great!
I love how they look like they enjoy what they're doing so much
The best pit book ever written.
insane talent in this ensemble!
It never gets old
can anyone else make me feel the beauty of the music, a rush, awe, and incompetent all at the same time?

Jump him
I LOVE THE SPLASH CYMBALS AND EVERYTHING
probably Jim Casella IP1003's or IP10003 X's. (They're very similar, the X's are just weighted).
@taylorryh you're very welcome! it was awesome to see in person
Great footage - thanks for the video!
love the invisible gong hit Jacob is doing at 0:14
The guy on the drum set is our head pit instructor. He's freakin awesome!!!!
Can someone transcribe the parts after the marimba splits I wanna learn it 🙏🙏me and friends learned the splits already
Next year I plan on auditioning for the cavaliers pit as a junior in high school. Any advice on what I should do until then.
Well played.
I so just fanboyed everywhere on my face
These expressions!
I may play snare...but I have so much respect for front ensemble
hes really good
Wait everyone else hears libertango by Astor Piazolla, right?
Martin Escobar I was thinking the same thing. But yeah it is libertango.
That guy on the kit back there, that's my pit instructor

Hey Garrett! Haha tj is awesome!
Anybody know if/where I can get the sheet music for this?
Musescore
Who was the center marimba?
Aww there's me in a year or so :')
acting at its best there
@SheikTijl But, unfortunately, that is how percussion features work.
0:48 I always turn to the side when I hear this now.
@SheikTijl actually the part where basses get featured is insane, look it up. I agree but don't go dissing a bassline as good as cavvies.
This is the only time I'm sad I'm a girl -_-
Woman can do this i think
oka this was homework to watch this video
@potatosama & BboyElectirx they are sweat bands lol, nice try though.
... I aspire to be you all.
1:55 the guy looks like hes about to cry!!!
I see why they won drums
OH MY GOD
The one person who disliked is in BD pit.
Build chops, there's nothing worse than playing insane stuff like this with a bunch of blisters on your hands.
are those weights on their forearms? ...shit...
Holy fuck.
